Twenty Somethings

I'm 23... so far I'm enjoying being in my 20s... what I'll miss when I'm no longer in my 20s - being in my prime.

Not to be harsh, but that's easy. Just get off your ass, get in the car, and go somewhere. ;) :D

Crow's got a point. Just cause you're still in school doesn't mean that you can't travel, even if you don't want to skip class (although I don't know why you wouldn't). I've travelled more during college than I did before.

What is this car you speak of. In NYC, it is kinda pointless to have a car especially with the price of gas these days...

Oh come now...lets be honest...traveling like Munachi is doing is not that easy especially when you're a poor college student with homework, tests, and papers due. Yeah...weekend trips might be ok if you can afford the gas and don't have midterms...but to do the amount of traveling that Muni is doing, unless you're doing it as part of a university program, is nearly impossible for a student to do. And then of course, once you get out in the real world...you possibly have the money...but still not the time. To just sit here and say...well stop complaining, jump in the car and go wherever you want, I think is a gross oversimplification...

I don't think we were talking about traveling around the world, at least I wasn't. There are plenty of places to go visit for a weekend around the States even without a car, especially from NYC. Just head over to Penn Station and pick where you want to go. Philly, DC, Buffalo, etc. are all options for a weekend trip that won't break the bank. A trip every month or two shouldn't be out of the question, even with classes. In fact, I'm preparing to make my second weekend trip of the school year this weekend and I have another trip planned for right when classes let out for winter break.

I'm not saying that it's feasible for everybody, but I'm just saying that the options are there if you want to persue them. Besides, who needs to study for midterms? This is college right? Gotta prioritize.

I should've responded when I first saw this, but I didn't get a chance to.

Anyhow, I'm sorry I made the wrong impression. I did not mean to be mean. I was simply saying that there is always a way to go travel. You just have to find the means. Ok, so I should have SIMPLY said that instead of what I did say, but I have a way with words.

Anyhow, I hope you still love me, MyOwn. ;)

I've been quite busy over the past few weeks. Working my second job has been great. I mean it is VERY less stressful than my current job. If they were paying me more, I'd definitely quit my other job, but I think I'll have to wait on that and see what happens. For now, the job's only meant to give me gas money and a little extra spending money.

See ya's around!

hm actually i am a student - and not all of my travel is university programs (though the current one is)... part of it is of course that i am lucky to be from a country where university is for free and where students are entitled to a certain amount of money per month that allows them to live (either as a state loan or from their parents, and mine never made any problems) so if i work along with that i can actually save up money...

another thing is that i do have friends all over the world so i usually can find places to stay for free at least part of the time i am traveling... oh and when i go away for a longer time i rent out my room so i have no extra costs - and try to travel in a cheap way so i don't spend too much more than what i would spend at home... it can work... depends in part where you go to of course, like it is cheaper when you go to "poor" countries, etc.

and of course with what your priorities are - travel is what i like to do, so i rarely shop for clothing, don't buy cds, hardly ever go to the movies, etc. etc. - most of my money goes to airplane or bus tickets.

SO Muna, here's a question I have been wondering about your travels. Is most of it study aboard and you do online classes. I don't know why, but now I am curious about this now after learning about a semester aboard program for my major in England. Just curious.

well i did some study programs - that is the one to romania - in that case i had classes there that had to do with what i studied at home and that i got credited at home.

in peru i did field research for my thesis, not classes...

and then a lot of my traveling is during breaks (we get quite a lot of time off in germany, we are supposed to writ epapers then but not always do, jeje)

they are indeed... in germany at least... a lot less strict (which unfortunately leads to me not studying as much as i should, though...)

Ok, this may be a bit off-color here, but does this mean times have changed since Hitler's Reign of Germany? I mean, from my studies in History (don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I BELIEVE it), I'd have thought Germany, Russia, and quite a few other 3rd World countries were strict.

Guess I should really get a passport and start traveling. :D

LOL....well first of all...I wouldn't exactly consider Germany and Russia third world, third world implies that they aren't industrialized, which we know is false based on their military and economic abilities. Third world is more like India and most of Africa, if anywhere can be called third world these days because of the spread of Americanization.

Anyway, I was under the impression that since the fall of the communism regimes in both East Germany and Russia, things have gotten a lot more lenient. That's not to say that things are 100% democratic, if there is such a thing, but I think it would be safe to say that there has been a drastic improvement in civil and economic liberties since the iron curtain fell, probably more so in Germany than in Russia because remember, Germany had half a country that was operating on a free trade, free economic democratic system instead of communism.

Anyway...I could be wrong about all this, I've never actually been to either country but being a history major and having taken some polisci classes this is the impression that I've been given.

Oh MyOwn, what's it going to take to get close to that body? Every time I see it, I crave for it.

You're the unicorn to my life. So beautiful, yet hard to catch.

Well, the body and charms are instantly recognized. The sparkling personality doesn't follow far behind either.

So is it wrong to like the mind and the body? Really, I can't help myself. I guess I'm just a lonely, lost soul in search of the light at the end of the tunnel.
