washington peeps

Everybody ready for tomorrow? Couldn't find any ice melter anywhere. Daughter is in line at Fred Meyers (not sure which one). Said they are mostly sold out of everything and the lines go down the whole aisle!

That's what I've heard. You'd think we were about to die or something. The world is ending..

I went to Fred Meyers and it was crazy! The bread isle was empty, not 1 single bread item! Checkout lines were clear to the back of the store. Here I though Christmas time was the worst! Since when do people pay attention to the weather around here, haha.

My daughter was just there and said the same. A friend said the same at Safeway. KOMO posted something on Facebook showing entirely empty shelves everywhere!

The worst part of this is by the time we're able to get back out again, the stores won't have restocked.

I bought yeast. Can make my own bread. If we don't lose power!

Apparently when the threat of "more than average inches", comes along 😜

But it's also gonna stick around. Night temps are far colder than normal and day temps not much above freezing. All that equals ice! My street still had ice on it today. Just patches but there were a lot of them.

I could not even get out of my apartment complex until Wednesday. Live on a hill and almost could not get back into it! Costco I hear had people lined up outside all the way around the building. Crazy stuff! I don't bake and I am sure no one wants to see me try, not even me, haha.

Panic? Is there a disco?

I already told my boss that my schedule might be sporadic over the coming days.

My survival plans involve a wood stove and tea, bread is a good idea too though. And maybe some whisky--in amounts proportional to the level of panic.

I'd bake for you but you're too far away! I walked to the mailbox yesterday. I was on the sidewalk. Passed a guy walking in the street. I started out in the street because it was less icy than the sidewalk but figured if I fell, it would be safer to fall on the sidewalk than in the street. The area of the street I'm on is not too hilly but going one way out is a steep hill. The other way out is a curved very shady street that's also hilly. That stays icy long after the other streets aren't.

I think I am just going to stay put, lol. Maybe go out and take a few pictures in the park behind my apartment building. Then come in and wish I had warm bread, lol.

Dang. If I knew someone going out that way, I'd send you some.

The way snow is handled here is so frustrating coming from Wisconsin. You would think there would be salt saved for the few times it could snow like this. The sidewalks needed to be cleared off Tuesday so the ice doesnt kill people! I hope this snow and ice is managed with faster this time around on sidewalks. Its odd to see ice right outside the doors of businesses.. I hate ice.

It won't be. It will stay around until it melts.

Im prepared for this kind of survival. Though I don't really like whiskey.

Where is this “snow” of which everyone is speaking? I just see this odd dusty white stuff that is making everyone drive silly.

I was going to venture out to the bookstore but there is a solid 1/2 blanket on my car and it is still coming down. I think I'll stay here where it is warm.
