Liberals Say This State Has the “Craziest” Gun Laws – It’s Also the Safest State

13 Comments / By Donald Fitzpatrick / July 9, 2024

Does progressive Vermont have the nation’s craziest gun laws? That’s certainly what liberals outside of the state seem to think.
The state’s better-known Senator, Bernie Sanders, found himself under fire from his fellow candidates during the 2016 Democrat primary for the crime of having “only” a D- rating from the NRA. In particular, Sanders found himself defending a completely rational vote of his: when in 2005 he voted in favor of legislation granting gun manufacturers legal immunity from being sued by gun victims (just like how we don’t hold General Motors liable for car fatalities).

Despite being one of the most liberal states, if not the most liberal, Vermont surprisingly has a gun culture.

The Trace (a website started with funding by “Every Town for Gun Safety”) chided Vermont as a “gun rights paradise,” quoting one gun-rights activist as saying that “Vermont, for over 220 years, has never had permits, has never had registration, and has never had any serious gun control laws.”
Vermont sounds like a scene out of Mad Max when described by the anti-gun lobby, but the state’s residents would probably laugh at the characterization. Vermont was the safest state in the nation in 2016, 2017, and 2018, second safest in 2019 and 2020, and the safest in 2021, 2022 and 2023.

So now let's wait for the Politruk coalition to bring their tears.
You'll be waiting a long time, dork. This case illustrates the nullity of trolls, the utility of traditions of liberty, the strength of rural values, and the complexity of laws.

Shine, Perishing Republic

By: Robinson Jeffers

While this America settles in the mould of its vulgarity,
heavily thickening to empire,
And protest, only a bubble in the molten mass, pops
and sighs out, and the mass hardens,

I sadly smiling remember that the flower fades to make fruit,
the fruit rots to make earth.
Out of the mother; and through the spring exultances,
ripeness and decadence; and home to the mother.

You making haste haste on decay: not blameworthy; life
is good, be it stubbornly long or suddenly
A mortal splendor: meteors are not needed less than
mountains: shine, perishing republic.

But for my children, I would have them keep their
distance from the thickening center; corruption
Never has been compulsory, when the cities lie at the
monster's feet there are left the mountains.

And boys, be in nothing so moderate as in love of man,
a clever servant, insufferable master.
There is the trap that catches noblest spirits, that caught
they say God, when he walked on earth.

I think of it as people who are paying attention. Potayto, potahto.

Paying Attention isn't always easy, and it isn't always enjoyable. I feel that it is always necessary, and that's why I do not understand the Kool-Aid drinkers.

Real Love is not based on attachment, but on altruism. In this case, your compassion will remain as a humane response to suffering as long as beings continue to suffer.

*********************

When our hearts are open to everyone, it is easier for us to trust, respect and sympathize with each other. We may be deceived a few times, but there are still good people to meet, make soulmates and are no longer alone. Such a life will be more beautiful and good for growth. When good and good meet and cooperate with each other, good will develop slowly. If we keep doubting each other forever, keep framing each other, separating each other forever, even if we have kindness, we will not have the opportunity to meet with others to share, to cooperate and develop the good more strongly.

It is a pity, truly, that there is so much delusion in the world, and the greatest source of this delusion is Self.

Talk about should be mandatory . . . .

Face it, the uneducated of the electorate are the most triggered.

Facts are our friends even if we don't always like them.

I agree, even not being a chess person. It's the dress code that makes no sense to me. Somebody in their "Governing" body needs a kick in the nuts.

On the one hand I sort of agree.

On the other; there are rules we must follow. We can do whatever we wish, in private. But, when in public we must follow those rules I just mentioned. One of which is that we have to wear clothes which fit the scene.

The chess tournament has a dress code which attempts to make what is, arguably, the most boring of contests, classy. If someone wishes to participate, then they must obey the rules and be classy in both manner and dress. Failure to do so means they don't get to play with the rest of the class.

It is akin to contracts which the NFL/NBA/whatever letter combination sports orgs you want have with players regarding bad conduct, including off the field. Again, if you want to play, you must obey the rules.

Lawyers must wear "mourning clothes" to court. People have to "dress" for church (and dinner sometimes.) and so on. You either do it, or get snubbed/ousted.

In this case, Carlsen got the org to loosen the dress code but there's a catch. It has to be "elegant." Which is undefined and subject to interpretation. Which is often abused by those in power against certain persons. A situation many orgs have faced and have retreated from after reconsideration once the misuses and abuses begin. We shall see if Chess is one of those in that group.

That's why you'll never be more than a chud trolling your betters on an unknown website.

My president Reagan would have spit on you in unison with Bill Buckley and George Will.

Good morning!

Yes, but don't forget this:

I'm researching these issues now for one of two new books.

This is a very interesting volume:

History of Monetary Systems: A Record of Actual Experiments in Money Made by Various States of the Ancient and Modern World, as Drawn from Their Statutes, ... Systems, and Other Sources of Information https://a.co/d/axSgZWf

The author was a Sephardic Jew. He was taken up by Ezra Pound.

In my view, EP's trajectory on money reflected the impact of the bimetallism debate at the end of the 19th c.

Probably the most baffling inquiry i ever undertook.

Happy Monday!!!

I do try. Most days, I succeed in not annoying myself. Those are victories.

We can drag them kicking and screaming into schools, universities, libraries and book stores, but we can't make them think.

Maybe we need a bigger . . . well, something.

Well, if it's in the rules somewhere, and if you agree to abide by said rules when you ask to be allowed to participate, and then you don't and are asked to comply or leave, then you're a Little Bitch. I think that a newish decent pair of jeans is acceptable by my rules for things. Mostly. They also make jeans that look more like khakis these days.

One wears mourning clothes to court because one is "invited" to a fraternity party, and one had best have a "brother" to attend with.

Wat wore a suit (a damned nice suit, I'll have you know) to a funeral several years ago. They only other person in a suit that day was the corpse. I was shocked at how dressed down the crowd was. It stuck me as a tad disrespectful.

I agree, baffling it is. Makes my head hurt a bit. It is still true today that cities will crumble to ruin without the farms to feed them. Half the folks here think that food comes from grocery stores.

I'm getting some content created. Something became apparent, and it's working as long as I work it.

WDS PSA FYI:

Remember, kids, five out of four doctors agree that, inexorably, the following occurs:

Step #1: hate Wat for Wat's being Wat
Step #2: develop Wat Derangement Syndrome
Step #3: start construction of a malignant tumor to memorialize the hate
Step #4: by itself, the tumor will metastasize and migrate to the effected ass and become ass cancer.
Step #5: there will be, insh'Allah, years of pain and suffering.
Step #6: Allah will collect the sufferer at time of death and deposit him/her in the hottest corner of Islamic Hell, where the fires burn hotter, the torture is more painful, and Eternity lasts a bit longer.

Meanwhile, Wat will merrily pursue Living the Good Life as Allah's Favorite, buying more land and guns and helping the worthy and avoiding the unworthy and paying no attention to the hated-filled ass cancer sufferers. Comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.

Because things have a way of not working out the way that Litlibs would have us believe.

Allah is Merciful . . . .
