30 Rock is my favourite at the moment.
Curb Your Enthusiasm & Seinfeld.
The Simpsons is an all time classic.
Loved The Wire when it was on and Band of Brothers.

Absolutely. And tired of the lies, fear-mongering, wars, ridiculous spending, being the object of laughter and hatred, etc., etc. Plus, the old guy who had trouble running a campaign and poorly vetted, scheming idiot didn't look good in comparison to the really smart, energetic, stronger guy who was promising change.

There were a lot of major factors that got Obama elected. To clarify, I don't think 24, or anything similar, were real factors. I just wonder if they prepared some for the possibility of voting for a non-white president, when maybe they wouldn't really consider it otherwise. Sometimes seeing a representation opens minds to possibilities.

CSI: Vegas, Two and a Half Men, Seinfeld, Family Guy, Smallville (when not all love triangle crap)

I agree 100% with this. David Palmer on 24 was portrayed so well as the President that it must have opened some minds. Likewise, this season's female President will most likely close some minds to that option who might otherwise have been swayed.

In any event, let's hope we're all smart enough to vote based on the real issues.

He didn't end anything of the sort. If you read the publicly released records, what Obama signed was an order to close gitmo and "assess" the prisoners, the majority of whom are simply being transferred to other facilities, notably in countries that don't have torture restrictions. It's call a "bait and switch", just FYI.

I know, I know...most people don't read past the headline :)

I've long been tired of fearmongering, but unfortunately the MO of the Democratic and Republicans is identical: Scare the shit out of the people with (Insert buzzword of the month here), convince them that (insert oppositional party here) are their mortal enemies and that they'll end up killing us all, rinse and repeat with appropriate buzzwords to stir up the left and the right side of the country's people more or less equally, and voila, you have citizens at EACH OTHER'S throats while the evil Democrats and evil Republicans run away with the power and the money.

It's unfortunate that the promise of change was simply more sales pitching with no truth behind it, but hell, we were going to get that no matter who won. Until Americans wake up and realize that both Democrats AND Republicans are the enemies of the people, we're doomed to the Status Quo.

State of Fear by Michael Crichton was interesting reading. His premise was that the govt always wants to keep the people in a state of fear, regardless of what the issue might be, simply because it keeps us focused on something other than them.

I found a new favorite last night (middle of the night actually) on A&E called Manhunters: Fugitive Task Force. They're 30 minutes which is great at times. US Marshals are very cool people.

obama ordered it closed within the year and to assess the prisoners in order to figure out where to send them. the order required 120 days for such assessment, which time has not yet expired.

strangely, i've not seen any stories indicating those prisoners are being shipped anywhere at all just yet. since you're so well informed on the subject, i trust you have a link to support that statement?

I've never heard of it, but I love A&E and will see if I can find it in my area. Thanks!

I finally got around to starting Season 4 of The L Word tonight.

One episode, and I was already hopelessly addicted once again! :D

NCIS.
I love the little in-jokes they have.
Shark was good, but it's stopped (well, it has here in the UK).

Although I've only caught one episode, Doing DaVinci may become my latest tv obsession. Utilizing the only materials that would have been available during DaVinci's time, a team of expert builders attempts to construct some of his designs. The Scythe Chariot was just freakin' cool.

I saw commercials for that during Out of the Wild: The Alaska Experiment (which is one of the best shows on currently, IMO; my husband would be PERFECT for that kind of thing!). Discovery or History did something very similar (though non-DaVinci-focused) several years ago.

I'll have to see when it's on and check it out. :)

I think I may have caught part of one of those episodes last week (might have been a re-run or something). There were two men out hunting ptarmigan while the women were trying to reconstruct the tarp shelter. It was something like 40 below and they'd gotten quite a bit of snow the night before, so much so that the shelter was threatening to cave. Looked interesting for sure, but not one I'd ever volunteer for. *shakes head* I'm a wuss when it comes to the outdoors.

Ed says: i've become a big fan of man v. food, on travel. i want adam richman's job!

My husband wants Adam Savage and Jaime Hyneman's job (Mythbusters). He wants to know how to get paid to blow stuff up.

Paging Denae: are you ready for the premier of SYTYCD? I've already got my machine set to DVR it. *nods*

I've never really gotten into American Idol, but I'm fascinated by NBC's newest reality TV show, The Voice.

Here's the premise:

Armed only with their voices, a field of talented singers auditions for the chance to team up with celebrity coaches Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine, or Blake Shelton to become America's next great singing star.

i've become a fan of breakout kings. it's better writing than leverage, which is of course but a pale shadow of its inspiration, BBC's excellent hustle.

NCIS, but I've seen most. Quite predictable, but the characters are likable.

Some of the cable networks have good stuff. Showtime's The Borgias is really good. It reminds me of The Tudors.

Plus, there are some fun, titillating shows such as Hung and Callgirl.

Justified, Breaking bad, Mad Men and Community are terrific.

Recent shows like Game of Thrones and The Killing have a lot of promise.

'Chuck' used to be a lot of fun, but it's been hit or miss this season.

Good god Bailadora....I missed this post a year ago, but it's nearly time for the new season in 2011. (I wasn't a big fan of the newbie/alum version last go-round).

Will have to check in here after the season opener.

Anyhooo, currently I've been watching way too much of House Hunters/House Hunters International. It's been an eye opener to see how little of a home you get in certain cities/countries.
