WFMS. . .

Relatively quiet quality time.

I didn't think to post about this when it happened, but on Saturday, my hubby and I had someone to watch the kiddies for us. We went to Subway, got a couple of sandwiches, and took them to a park along the Ohio River, where we sat in a swing and watched the people and the boats (and some poor girl practicing the maneuverability portion of her driver's test).

It was nice, just the two of us. That doesn't happen as often as I'd like.
this sounds really awesome... i love "dates" like this and i hope you enjoyed yours. :)

I didn't mention this because it's not particularly romantic, but after we were finished eating we drove to a cemetery on a hill overlooking the town. The view of the entire town and the river was amazing; I grew up in that town and I'd never seen it from that vantage point.

I wanted to take a pic, but I'd left my camera at my grandma's.

This just made my day because it reminds me of so many things. When our kids were younger we never went out unless a close and trusted relative stayed with our kids (three times we hired babysitters and each time turned out to be a disaster....seems our boys ruled the roost while we were gone....judging by the amount of clothes hanging from the ceiling fan). So we only went out once a year or so because our closest relative lived over an hour away.
We used to get out with the kids a lot more than we have recently. Part of that is because of my grandmother's health issues and that my mom's been insanely busy between work and caring for my grandma.

I've had only one outside-the-family babysitter for my kids. Just my preference.

WFMS.....

For dinner last night I made something called 'cheeseburger peppers' (a version of stuffed peppers with melted cheese on top - I used sweet red peppers). I made these once before and they were good but they could have been better.

So i modified the recipe using 2x the meat (ground sirloin) and used brown rice instead of white rice. And I winged it on the spices and other additives.

The compliments from my wife and daughter were very nice. It's amazing how far a few kinds words of acknowledgement will go. :)

I'd love to hear more about this recipe, MrWag.

I made chili the other night, only I used ground turkey instead of beef. Nobody noticed the difference and I felt very smart.

there's a female cardinal outside my window... not sure why but i always liked the muddy-colored females more than the red males... probably because the first time i saw one i had no idea what it was.

An amazing day yesterday for three of my students...one of them is now a state champion in public speaking and going to the national competition...although, this scares the hell out of me, I'm so very proud of her!

does this have anything to do with needing a ticket? or is that due to a personal triumph of your own?

This is the ticket! I live vicariously through my students ;)

i figured you were on spring break but felt compelled to needle you. :)

Well, congratulations to both you and your student! :rose:

You have every right to enjoy knowing you made a difference in a young person's life. How special that is. :)

Thanks Scaly :D

It is an amazing experience. Yesterday was just one of those amazing, no-words-can-justly-describe type of moments!

Congratulations. I don't know if there is a finer feeling in the world than the one you get when one of your students or your children do something amazing.

I agree! It is probably even more intense when it is your own child. I've got my nephew and my students ~ those are my "kids" ;)
