What is your favourite song from the 70's?

Great song, but that was 1969. (A phenomenal way to end a legendary decade of music.)

True story: Merry Clayton, still alive, did the background vocals, sang her heart out, and suffered a miscarriage soon after. She would go on to sing background on "Sweet Home Alabama".

Good point. I was wondering if it was the late 60s or the 70's. I saw an interesting interview with Merry Clayton recently. She talked about getting called in to record in the wee hours and her voice breaking on the second chorus. I'm pretty sure that she released her own version of gimme shelter.

The documentary 20 Feet From Stardom is amazing, if you haven't seen it.

I feel love - Donna Summer

I was 7 and had heard nothing like it

.
Lawyers, Guns, and Money came out in 78 so there's another contender.

So many songs to choose from in such a diverse decade filled with original, creative works.

One of my many favorites:

Low Spark of High Heeled Boys. Traffic ('71)

Way too many to choose from, but I’ll give a little shout-out to glam rock.

Ballroom Blitz ~ Sweet
All the Young Dudes ~ Mott the Hoople
20th Century Boy ~ T Rex
Snake Bite ~ The Sensational Alex Harvey Band
Anything by the New York Dolls

This is some good shit. I’m gonna add some other glam-ish early working class rock n roll before there was punk. Some good shit on this Link.
