What is your favourite song from the 70's?

Don't Leave Me This Way by Thelma Houston
Atomic by Blondie
I Feel Love by Donna Summer
You Should Be Dancing by The Bee Gees (and also the cover done by Foo Fighters under their disco alter-ego band name The Dee Gees)

I've been on a disco era music kick lately. I'm not sure what it means 🤪

I can't even remember the 70s.

I do remember being dressed in green and camouflage during a lot of it...

I think that you're on to something there.

45s had become almost a thing of days gone by.

Now it's "files" and CDs...

I lined up at Sam the Record Man to buy Tubular Bells because it was a “concept album”, only to find out it was 40 minutes of tubular bells.

Yes, its quite different now; revenue for most artists is based on streams, which pay basically nuthin’… instead, spotify will buy billboards in times square etc for bigger streamers to support recognition so you can book arena and festival shows at 150-200k/nite and up, sell 5 seconds of a song to nike for a commercial for 50k , etc.

Plus, artists all own their publishing rights now, well, the smart ones do.

Its actually not that hard to make 5-10M a year without being a “celeb” in the sense that you can still go shopping without bodyguards.

Here’s a sobering thought….

The biggest selling song of the 1970’s was “ You Light Up My Life” by Debbie Boone.

An obscure - never hear anymore from 1970 - love the sound - sort of like some Chicago - sort of sounds like a movie soundtrack song from 1970's movie - Tough lyrics - 'Vehicle' from Ides of March

There are way too many great songs to narrow it to one, however, “Bye Bye, Miss American Pie” was the first title that jumped into my subconscious…
