Hearing from my mother that my dad is going on vacation in a week. For a whole week, my father will be on the other side of the country. Far, far away from me. Out of sight, out of mind, and all that. That's good. :D

If he's flown Qantas, he may be there for a whole lot longer! :D

Lovely thuddy toys...can't sit and it hurts to close my legs, but that's okay :D

Agreed. I do love, however, that "Canadian" just automatically explains away suspicious behaviour.

BTW, you should see what we do with flashlights.

God, I love indigenous people and their charming folk arts.

That's amazing! Just think what you all could do, if you had electricity up there!

Hey, they've harnessed the power of sled dogs!

Going to a book fair. I ended up with 6 boxes of books containing everything from Trashy Historical Romances to Sci-Fi. I was just picking up anything that looked interesting and packing them in the boxes. I could have bought so many more but my arms were beginning to hurt. I needed a nice strong man to carry them for me.

Also I was amazed that considering it was run by the church how many "Joy of Sex" and "His and Her Pleasure" books there were.

Bibliogasm! Mmmmmmm...

Finding the annoying guy who's been dragging my lab group down has left to torment another group!!
YAAAAAAAYY!!

Kiwi! You too? One of our local churches runs a rummage sale every quarter. I found a treasure trove of Ellora's Cave erotica there! The most wicked D/s, and other various bdsm topics. And most didn't looked to have been read, even once! Who knew! I know have this rummage sale noted on my calendar - don't want to miss the next one! (and they had the cutest little purse, sweater and shawl too. (Didn't want to look like too much of a pervert!)

What made me smile today was a very touching, caring and lovely PM from a very wonderful, caring and lovely person. An incredible human being.

It's all good, just another bump in the road, my friend. Made more manageable because of you. Really. Your words always touch me. This one was like a combination of a warm hug, and my hair being brushed. Lovely. :rose::kiss:

(Most of y'all know that we have cats - three of 'em. We also live in an area where nepeta cataria grows wild, and profuse, through the entire growing season, oftentimes better than does grass. Therefore, this quote she sent me...)

While catnip will repel mosquitoes in close proximity to the plant, some people
apply crushed catnip leaves or catnip oil for more robust protection. Bear in mind,
however, that cats will respond to you similarly as they would respond to the plant
itself. Cat owners may want to choose an alternative plant for repelling mosquitoes.

Walking into a bookstore- mostly just out of curiosity- being the only person in there, and discovering that the new Terry Pratchett book was out. Yeah, hardback is expensive, but fuck it, Pratchett.

Seems I need to walk randomly into shops for no reason more often...

I love that feeling, when you walk into a bookstore and find the perfect book. The excitement of not been able to wait until you get home to open that first page and go on a journey with that book.

My smile today is life. I love finding something to smile about every day, no matter how small and also helping someone who is having a stressful time of it at the moment to smile.

More people should think like that! What a great feeling it is to make someone else smile and laugh.

A business trip that was a 500-mile round trip, plus five hours of meetings... very, VERY long day.... that included the new PR manager, 10 years younger than me if he's a day, being VERY taken with me (17 people in the room for an hour's meeting and he didn't take his eyes off me once) and my own boss flattering the shite out of me in a 55-min one-to-one meeting, about my value to him and the company.

my cat leaping off the ironing board through the blind cord and getting tangled leaving it hanging there
I laughed
I am evil
I did get it down

So, my father has officially gone on vacation now: he's very, very far away. It might seem odd to say this, but I've always felt myself unwinding and relaxing a whole lot more when I know that bastard is no longer in the same city as me. This whole day has just been kind of pleasant all round because of that :)

Waking up in a panic and realizing that it was only a dream. Thankful that it is Saturday and I do not have to work. And last but not least.......a PM. ;)

A very little kid at the grocery store, his face and hands pressed HARD against the cold glass freezer door of the frozen pizza cooler. His mom beckoned for him, and he didn't move.

Instead, he licked the glass.

:D

Getting to the appointed blind date place, waiting for ten minutes, receiving a panicked phone call from Boy In Question explaining that he is terribly terribly sorry, but he is running late.

But here's why he's late. -Just- as he was leaving he realized that his city is doing their postponed-due-to-snow trick-or-treating, and he felt too badly to not have candy on hand for the kids that do dare to go all the way up his fourteen porch steps.

I now feel pretty gosh-darn okay about sitting and waiting for him to arrive.

Oh, and the Southern accent that no one warned me he had, and that makes my name sound like warm, buttery sex-caramel...that helps too.
