Actually getting to hear a friend's voice.
Sharing common culture with my one ex-pat friend here. It's nice not to be alone here anymore.
Getting to see the younger grades. Now I miss teaching the little'uns. It's awesome getting love notes and hugs from them.

"Well there's your mistake. Women don't have points, they have well-informed hysteria."

Talking over my funeral...

with my platonic GF, who is 74. Thats what friends are for....

Hearing my three year old and hubby play hide and go seek (or some variant of it) earlier. Working from home has its downsides, but the perks are pretty nice. So's lunch.

I got offered a promotion!

(well, it's more like "confirmed at the level I've been acting in for two years", so not actually a pay rise, but job security!)

And I tracked down the cause of an obnoxious bug and fixed it ten minutes before quittin' time this afternoon, so I can go away for five days and not fret about it.

Someone sent me a clip of "You're Welcome" from Mouana. I'd never seen it. ^___^
Also got to see some amazing g photography work. I like it when someone shares life with me. I feel loved and trusted.

I expressed my frustration to J about having to take an English class, where the bar is so low a toddler could step over it. I mean, last week the teacher gave me a "very good job" for knowing what to affect means.

J's answer: It's probably for the best you're for once forced to use English outside an internet porn board. It's an opportunity for you to see how long you can use English without mentioning blowjobs.

His answer cracked me up for two reasons.

1) It's a really good point! I basically only ever use English when I write here or talk with Lit friends.
2) What the hell does J think I talk about here? My posts are far less riveting than he clearly imagines. :D

As far as I've seen, your English comprehension is already indistinguishable from a native speaker so what made you decide to get classes on it?

The English classes are compulsory for the degree. I have to take three classes and this is the first, so maybe the next ones will be more interesting and rewarding. I'll just have to power through this one.
