What made you smile or laugh today? Part III

A little TMI but it eventually made me happy -

4 pm: got to nursing home, husband was in painful tears. Catheter was hurting so nurse pulled it out (wincing as I type this) and it was all gory and... you get the picture. All night Mr. cookie obsessed over peeing without cath, was it going to be ok, scared it would hurt, scared he'd wet the bed. Got him pain meds, he drifted off.

10 pm: I got up to leave, woke him up - he had the best smile. What's up, I asked him. He replied he felt soooooooo good. So there's no pain peeing, you feel ok, I asked.

I'm not thinking about that, he said. I'm thinking that without the catheter you can pay me some special attention, you know, down there. He actually wiggled his bushy Colonel Sanders eyebrows at me. All dreamy and a little drugged out. That's what I'm going to think about tonight, he said. I smooched him goodbye and told him that's what I'm going to think about, too.

Making plans for the weekend. Finding two pieces of leftover Christmas truffles. Custom made pants and scam emails. Realizing it's not so soul crushingly dark outside all the time anymore. Organizing photos. Sweet potatoes.

Pitfalls of buying clothes online...

When I read 'lacy' in the description of a top, I thought the pattern on the photo was lace material overlaying the material underneath.

The idea of LACES down the side of it never entered my head...

Mind you, it opens up a whole new set of possibilities, doesn't it....when life gives you lemons, get the gin and ice out...:D

Between the wardrobe and the drinks it sounds like you're cooking up quite a party! :D

We finally got to somewhat properly break in the new bed. The swing I found mounted perfectly to the canopy beams and was every bit as sturdy as we had hoped for. The swing did scare her a bit at first but she got comfotable pretty quickly. Gave me a little first time adventure to think about today as I went about my day. Definatly a good choice for the toy box.

Bringing folks up to speed:

In less than two weeks we close on a new-to-us house!!!!

Holy shit!!!

It's an almost-perfect-for-us house. All on one floor. Really cool master suite (complete with hidden small room behind bookcase) featuring wonderful Jacuzzi tub and snail shower. There's also an outdoor shower off the Master suite! Huge great room, snug kitchen (perfect except it needs a cork floor), nice 2nd & 3rd bedrooms (one for his Man Cave and one for my craft room), huge garage with plenty of space for my torching area, and a ginormous space for gardening. 5000 sq ft for a serious raised-bed garden (a funny little appendix off the rest of the property) and the remainder just begging for "garden rooms" of all sorts...first ideas are a succulent space, a species upright cactus space, lots of places for prickly pears and other desert species, bunches of wildflowers, and several citrus trees. It will take time to get it all going, but I have a plan. :)

Your house sounds amazing and great for your needs!

I hope the move goes well. :)

Small Cat has been extra-cuddly all day. Possibly because she wants more food but what the hell, I'm always up for cuddles from a pretty lady.

Thank you!

The packing continues and feels infinite, but making small steps. I'm glad I made a checklist so I can monitor progress!

DD2 is moving to points-as-yet-unknown at the same time. Not easy in MamaBear terms but good thing in empty-nest terms.

I sooo wish I could snap my fingers and make it DONE! Too much tedious packing to be done! Mostly my stuff so not much blame to pass around. Dagnabbit!

Woohoo! After two months of trying we caught Mama Cat tonight. (Again. Hoping I've reinforced the trap enough that she can't break out this time!)

She had figured out how to take food from the trap without triggering it, so in the end we had to tie a looong string to the trigger and run it inside the house. Then my partner watched through the window and told me when she was safely inside.

I was worried that we wouldn't be able to catch her before she had another litter. Tomorrow she goes off to the vet to get the snip, and then we can release her.
