CONGRATS !!!!

Bringing folks up to speed:

In less than two weeks we close on a new-to-us house!!!!

Holy shit!!!

It's an almost-perfect-for-us house. All on one floor. Really cool master suite (complete with hidden small room behind bookcase) featuring wonderful Jacuzzi tub and snail shower. There's also an outdoor shower off the Master suite! Huge great room, snug kitchen (perfect except it needs a cork floor), nice 2nd & 3rd bedrooms (one for his Man Cave and one for my craft room), huge garage with plenty of space for my torching area, and a ginormous space for gardening. 5000 sq ft for a serious raised-bed garden (a funny little appendix off the rest of the property) and the remainder just begging for "garden rooms" of all sorts...first ideas are a succulent space, a species upright cactus space, lots of places for prickly pears and other desert species, bunches of wildflowers, and several citrus trees. It will take time to get it all going, but I have a plan. :)

Mister is doing some work from home this morning. It's really cold in the house so little cat jumped on his lap as soon as the laptop was lifted. I tried to beckon her to warm blankets with me but his lap his prime real estate in this house. She curled up all comfy so he's holding his laptop in one hand and typing with the other. She's purring loudly.

@_@ so cute. (At some point I should rescue him.) (≧∇≦)

Thank you!

The packing continues and feels infinite, but making small steps. I'm glad I made a checklist so I can monitor progress!

DD2 is moving to points-as-yet-unknown at the same time. Not easy in MamaBear terms but good thing in empty-nest terms.

I sooo wish I could snap my fingers and make it DONE! Too much tedious packing to be done! Mostly my stuff so not much blame to pass around. Dagnabbit!

You'll get there! And how exciting! :)

Woohoo! After two months of trying we caught Mama Cat tonight. (Again. Hoping I've reinforced the trap enough that she can't break out this time!)

She had figured out how to take food from the trap without triggering it, so in the end we had to tie a looong string to the trigger and run it inside the house. Then my partner watched through the window and told me when she was safely inside.

I was worried that we wouldn't be able to catch her before she had another litter. Tomorrow she goes off to the vet to get the snip, and then we can release her.

Well done! I am glad you are keeping us apprised of the cats' and kittens goings ons!

I can imagine how cute and also kind of awkward if he is used to touch typing. At least little cat didn't move onto the laptop itself - surely even warmer, if not so comfy :)

I calculate that about 2.7% of the UK's population has signed the petition.
Makes it the 2nd most signed petition ever to grace British internet, behind the one asking for minimum turnout on the Brexit referendum.

We brought Mama Cat home from the vet, with instructions to keep her inside overnight. She's quite small, I don't think she's fully grown herself. Poor thing was already pregnant again, no wonder she was willing to risk the trap for food.

The plan was to release her tomorrow, but the cat-rescue lady who lent us the trap has just volunteered to foster her. I'm so happy about this. We've been feeding and watching her for three months and she has quite a personality; I think she might be tameable by somebody with the right experience. We'd been planning to go on feed her after release but having her go to somebody who can give her a good home is much better.

(Gonna miss having her around. But at least it'll be a bit quieter at night... until some other cat decides to claim the territory.)

An older gentleman sat next to me in the tram and started to talk about the places we passed, their history, some personal stories etc.

We went past a restaurant and he told me that there used to be a pharmacy in that location. I asked when it was.

"Oh, it wasn't that long ago. In the 50s."

Perspective. :D

Bought one of the homeless guys that hangs around a cup of coffee and listened to his story, it ends well, he's going to have a roof over his head again soon.

I love this

I'm excited for Him!. Sometimes all You need is a coffee :rose:

This is a bit of an odd one I think. I have grown pretty fond of a new To me...almost routine. And today without it I had a happy day messing about with fabric, almost like a little girl with a dressing up box, and making some head way with a lovely audiobook. My day has been theoroughly and unabashedly girly and I have been loving it.

Odd? Naw. Sounds like a great day:heart:

**Somehow, my body-clock decided it was fun to let me wake up at 5 am last three mornings, and I actually love it. lol. So much quiet time before the rush-hour mornings. I feel spoiled.

I think so. We dropped her off today and the cat rescue lady is hopeful that she'll adapt to domestic life.

I hadn't realised quite how small she was until I got a good look at her in the cage. I don't think she's fully grown yet, and her first litter was back around September; she might have only been about six months then. I'm hoping that she'll figure out that a soft bed and a full belly is a good deal.

Poor momma.

Lets hope so indeed, she would be so much happier, probably.

This morning I met some really lovely people at a local event I was cooped into. As we were making introductions I realised the woman next to me was really nervous of public speaking and we'd been chatting and swapped numbers and she'd been a little emotional already. She started to shake a little and I reached out to offer her my hand and her smile of gratitude was incredible. It made me happy something so easy, so incredibly easy, could make her so much happier. :). She silently offered to hold mine while I spoke, but the Elle holds the floor quite well 😏 She mentioned also she is really struggling with fatigue and stuff so while I cannot help with that I offered to go through with her over coffee some of my simple things I do at home which may or may not work for her :)

Elle, your AV is absolutely adorable

Don't You just love those kind of unexpected gifts life offers?
She sounds like a beautiful soul, as are You .

The college that daughter has applied to has ticked the 'potential Oxbridge candidate' box on her form :D

I'm pleased that she's going to get the opportunity to apply to Oxbridge, but if she decides it's not for her, then that will be fine. My views on those universities are mixed, but I'm delighted that she is considered a good enough candidate.
