Yes! I’ve noticed the same thing with math and especially with grammar of various languages. What felt so difficult back in the day is clear as day now.

And it’s kind of interesting because I just discussed with collegues how it sometimes goes inbthe other direction where you thought you understood someting and suddenly don’t anymore.
For me that is usually because I hadn’t really understood it or that I realized that there was a whole other level to understand.

I see what you mean by mathy and grammary stuff.
Perhaps some pattern recognition that is helpful with problem solving in those areas actually gets better with age as everything else goes south?

Earlier this week, we had a snowstorm. It really wasn't much of a storm as storms go, but it snowed for 12 hours straight and covered everything in a white duvet. It was so acoustically perfect you could hear yourself think with unaccustomed clarity. And then about 10:00 the power went off. I was probably the only person in the county that thought that was a good thing. Suddenly it was dark. Really dark. And it was quiet. You could hear a pin drop in the snow. No refrigerator no heat, nothing. I smileid and rolled in it, like a dog scratching his back.

Alternating current creates an imperceptible vibration that will, over time, cause screws to loosen if they are not tightened sufficiently. At least that's the way it was explained to me.
