What made you smile or laugh today? Part IV

I got rid of about 50% of my hair! In length. That is. The number of individual hairs should be the same. Shoulder length in front, a little longer in back.

One of those spur of the moment things again.

I never have understood how women could put up with all that hair. One of life's mysteries...

It’s not that problematic while still attaced to the head. I just has a fun time cleaning the brush roll and the little wheels on the vaccuum though. And let’s not talk about that shower drain. 😱

Word.

Oh and I smiled today, thinking about our semla diskussions:

No, I did not.
Purist, as I said,
not in much but in this.
Well that looks just as wrong as the chocolate version I sampled and told about.

I bought one with raspberry jam for tomorrow, because tomorrow is (one of) the bulle days.

I have killed--count 'em--two different Shark brand motorized floor sweeper things. They're not actual full-sized vacuum cleaners, but they're supposed to be fairly good, anyway. But my hair has ended the motors in both of them, so I switched to a real vacuum cleaner that's supposed to be good for picking up pet hair. I don't have any pets, but I thought, well, hair is hair, lol.

Yes, you need good filters and a bag helps a lot too.
We have an old (like old enough to vote and possibly even drinh) professional grade Nilfisk upstairs and a newer (relatively, it must be at least 12 years old) household variety Nilfisk downstairs. They seem impossible to kill.
I’ve had stick vacuum/sweeper/handvacuum things die on me after a couple of years or so though.

It’s funny because I’d never thought much about vacuum cleaners in different parts of the world being as different as they are until a US vacuum repair man had an AMA on Reddit(a true highlight!).

Upright vacuums are so heavy! All people who have big houses and upright vacuums must have incredible arms. I also don’t quite understand how you can vacuum under furniture with it because even when you tilt an upright vacuum, it’s still quite bulky.

I briefly had a handheld Dyson stick thing before giving it to mom (who then gave it to my sister, who gave it to her son…). I didn’t like it because it was so loud and heavy.

The problem it had was that my hair would gather at the edges of the rolling thing inside the part that goes against the floor (as you can see, I haven’t read the vacuum repairman AMA because I don’t know the lingo) and the hair would have eventually clogged it and stopped it from rolling. Plus it was so heavy compared to the kind that you drag behind you, like I don’t want vacuuming to become an arm day. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Pet hair is generally shorter than my hair, so I don’t know how good a pet hair function would be to tackle the issue of hair wrapping around the rolling thing over time.

Yup, this is what had happened to our robot yesterday.
Yes, lots of vacuums. Don’t judge - pet hair, three humans with long hair and one with a dust allergy.

I think all of the heavy machinery is partially about wall to wall carpeting. Not very common around here.

Wall to Wall carpeting is only clean once in its lifetime, as anyone who has taken up old carpeting will attest. Filthy. Bad news for anyone with allergies.

The Japanese have the right idea, btw.

Yup, there was wall to wall in our first appartment and we ripped it out one of the first weeks, beacause it just felt yuck.

Cat on the roof, working on her tan.

My cat came in to look at my table refinishing project with a disgusted look on her face that was clearly saying
”Woman, what a mess you are making!”.
I had to move her food and water from the dining room and she loves imposed change as much as the next cat.

A visit from a
friend who came quite a long way
to help me feel good
