When I have looked at those continental beds, my husband always said they were so high I wouldn’t be able to get up in them anyway.
Well, our hotel room for the night had one of those continental beds and lets just say, getting in bed involved some unworthy looking leaping and such.
Husband offered to build me a little ramp with one of the bags and a chair.

Hah, I can imagine the scene! I’ve been in the same situation in a hotel and I’m not even *that* short. Said bed also had weird slippery bedsheets and I was worried most of the night I’d slide off and not be able to climb back in. I did lose one pillow, though. No way I was going to climb out of the bed to rescue it in the middle of the night. Thankfully it was just a one night stay.
Do people who have beds like that also all have a step stool to climb in?

I don’t know. It was very comfy and I can live with some unworthy leaping.
After a fairly shitty day with car troubles, the disco ball, the steampynky art and comfy bed really did make me smile.
The hallways make me think of The Overlook Hotel though…

I’d be okay doing the leap and climb in a hotel, but at home, not so much.
The high bed with several layers of different types of mattresses. I think they’re really common in the US (based on TV
). Sometimes they’re really, really high, sometimes more manageable. I hate the jumping or climbing in though, so I’d never buy one for home. Makes me feel like a child if I can’t just put my ass on the bed and swing my legs in…

I’m normally quite ok with those kind of antics. I’m known for throwing myself on our rather low bed and sliding up, like in a water slide. It has earned me the nick name The Seal.
Our bed is under a low slanted roof though, so a high bed doesn’t make sense.
They are the perfect height for certain activities, however.

We bought a bed with that in mind. You should have seen us in the furniture department at Sears (yeah, it was a while ago)They are the perfect height for certain activities, however.

What kind of a cake did you get? Was it good?
Unfortunately I had too big of a meal for dinner and couldn’t justify getting the cake. I will try to return and get the cake soon. They all looked delicious so I’m a little more excited to try it.

It is also "pi Approximation Day". In the days where slide rules calculated things (like how to get to the moon), "pi" was often approximated as 22/7, which is accuate to 0.04%.

I had the cake! It was pretty good. They were all very cute looking. I got Black Forest flavor and I wasn’t disappointed.

Yay! Black Forest is an excellent cake flavor. Do you have a picture of the cake vending machine? It sounds intriguing.
I’ve been wanting to try a pizza vending machine, because it sounds so exotic to me. There have been those machines near where I live for a few years, but so far I’ve never tried it. It bakes the pizza on the spot inside the machine so that you get a warm, freshly baked pizza out of it.
