I’ve been talking with someone for a few weeks. It’s been really busy time for me so the conversations have been pretty superficial until now. A couple of times he’s explained things to me like I’m an idiot and I’ve wondered where that came from, but our conversation really was just casual chatting and nothing too deep or serious so I let it slide.

Today we talked a bit more, he started to explain a thing that I know a lot about in excruciating detail, made a mistake in his explanation and I corrected it. He absolutely lost it. He accused me of pretending to be something that I’m not these past 6ish weeks that we’ve been talking. That I’ve been acting like a ditzy bimbo on purpose and it’s been a ruse to orchestrate this moment where I get to set him straight.

To me it has been about just exchanging idle messages with him, but maybe in the future I’ll have enough time and energy to spend six weeks talking with a stranger just to orchestrate a moment where I get to point out that he made a mistake.

Never expected a reaction like that. It was funny though. J suggested that I start labeling myself with content warning: “smarter than I come across”.

I’m traveling in England and Germany this week and next for work. I left my cell phone in a cab from the airport.

Couldn’t dial an 800# from here for whatever reason, so called my wife and set up a 3 way call w my wireless provider and had my service turned off. Same thing for my credit cards. We jointly called the bank and cancelled all of my credit cards (linked to my phone).

An hour later the front desk called me abs the cab driver was in the lobby with my phone!!!!!!
