What pissed you off today? Mark III

The timing of me finding this thread is perfect! I mean maybe I’m the asshole but what pissed me off today is a person sending me a PM last night and then sending another one trying to guilt me into responding.
First off, it’s been less than 24 hours since their original message to me. Second, I do my best to reply to the messages I get but I can’t always do it or do it in a timely manner and often times when I do respond in a way that is polite but does not engage more conversation it isn’t understood as that.
Then when I try to explain to the person how their messages came across they get defensive and still try to treat me like the jerk.
I’m not into ghosting folks but does every PM get a response from you?

No, definitely not every PM gets a response from me. I think I’m a little harsher than some, but I’m very good at ignoring people who demand my time when they have no right to it.

It took me a while here on lit to recognize and accept this. At first, I thought every person (okay, let’s be honest, man) deserved a reply. Now I only message with people I know either through the threads or over my years of being here.

You’ve seen this person’s face now. Let this guide you in your further interactions.

Edited to add-they just responded with “we are going to have to agree to disagree.” What the actual what??? I’m telling you how your unsolicited message made me feel and you think agreeing to disagree is a response? Way to completely dismiss the opinion of someone you were supposedly trying to engage with. Tell me you don’t care what I think without telling me you don’t care what I think

I know we’ve spoken about the difference in volume and tone of PMs to men and women on Lit. But even of the few I get, I no longer answer all I receive. I have learned that some people are incapable of engaging in interactive conversation and/or operate on a parallel plane of how the world works.
I won’t change these people, the only one disturbed by the interaction will be me, and I only have so much time to spend on Lit. There are some really cool people here, and I would rather spend my time with them.
I no longer respond to unsolicited PMs that annoy me, because I know that it will only annoy me more when they inevitably reply and expect me to continue.
Just remember, you don’t owe anyone here your time. It’s precious.

Perfect example here in this thread. “You shouldn’t dress that way because I’m not fit to live in society and conduct myself appropriately when you do that.”

I swear the Venn diagram of men who say "if you dress like that, how do you expect guys to react?" and men who say "sure some men are bad but it's unfair to treat us all as potential threats" is a perfect circle.

With all due respect to twister, I don’t think it’s about reading the room. Because to me that implies that the response is environment dependent.

Someone you find attractive has posted something that you are aroused by.
They have asked you by definition of a group to which you belong, not to contact them.

I called my eye doctor to find out my PD measurement. The secretary told me to drive there and ask the optometrist to do the measurement. Then, when I got there, the optometrist refused to do the test (which takes maybe 30 seconds). I even offered to pay them. They said no. So I offered to buy a pair of eye glasses there. They said no. I'm really pissed at them. Thus, if anyone wants to hex them, please do.

You might check your state laws. Some states consider the PD to be a required portion of your prescription.
What possible reason could this OD have for not providing the PD?
