gnats and fruit flies are both members of the same family. There must be some decaying fruit or something like that near by that they are using for their incubation/reproduction area. If and when you find it, it will have a lot of those flying buggers around as well as little pods that look like seeds. These pods are small, but large enough that you can see them with your naked eye. They might look similar to small grains of rice, but slightly darker in color.

Those are pods that will hatch more of the pests. Get rid of the decaying or overly ripe fruit or whatever as well as these pods. The flying adults will die, once you remove the food source. Until then, you will constantly have more and more as they reproduce exponentially.

Incidentally, gnats are usually dark in color, almost black. Fruit flies are brownish, and may even look kind of red. No matter which it is, they're all pests. As long as they have something to feed and reproduce on, you'll never get rid of them.

I appreciate the advice, but none of this information is making me feel any better about these gnats! ;)

Well, I guess they're all dead now anyway. Thanks, this was a real help :)

I think it's, frankly, reprehensible that a therapist set aside JUST FOR veterinary students, who has been doing is job for years, has no idea what a ruminant is or what kinds of animals are ruminants. I don't care that it's not his job. How am I supposed to relate to someone about the stresses in learning my field, when he can't even pronounce tachycardia without stumbling and doesn't know that an example of a ruminant is a cow. He's been in the SAME BUILDING as us for years. How did he not even over hear that information at some point?

I've never really liked this therapist. There's something about him that sets my hairs on end. But he's really not helping himself!!!

Fetlife pissed me off today. Or specifically, the caretakers.

I had a demotivational poster up that happened to have kids on it. The demotivational poster was 100% completely nonsexual, but it was removed due to the fact that someone reported it, and the caretakers told me that no pictures of minors were allowed, period, no matter what.

Okay, that's fine, I don't mind that at all.

However, when I report a thread that has EXPLICIT UNDERAGE SEXUALITY in it, the caretakers not only completely ignore me, but don't remove, edit or even warn the OP.

So a completely nonsexual demotivational poster is removed, but explicit underage sexuality isn't.

Fuck you caretakers, you need to get your fucking rules straight.

*passes a club* I might be able to find a sledgehammer if that does not suffice.

"dont be a drama queen. i love to leave you wondering."

This. Granted, I may be a bit overly sensitive to certain people, but being ignored, intentionally, mind you for days does not mean that I'm a drama queen. I didn't innundate him with messages, I didn't whine and cry, I didn't. I waited, as patiently as I could. Now? I'm just pissed off and fed up.

having to do the weekly shopping, people getting in my way, kids screaming and getting more and more worked up over it

NO!!! This whole topic is now about my allergies! Betticus has spoken...

This made me giggle, just a little.

So sorry you're suffering. I for one, am simply dying to know what you're allergic to, how you deal with them, how they affect your daily life, how much you'd like them to simply disappear and any other information you'd be willing to impart.

I can't help but wonder if the little kitty is a part of the problem.....

Yet another new poster who doesn't know the difference between "dominate" and "dominant."

Why can't they come up with something new to fuck up?

Being stood up for lunch.

And it was such a lovely day to sit by the water and have something tasty to eat.

Funny though, guys understand that "it's fine" repeated over and over is code for 'this is definitely not fucking fine' but chicks don't seem to get it.

You can stick your promises of making it up, and visiting later up your ass, thanks.

You know, I think it's less about knowing the difference, and more about lazy pronunciation. That's how the word sounds to them in that sentence, so that's how they spell it.

Having watched a number of fb posts from my brother where he writes 'he's' instead of 'his' and my alltime favourite I see everywhere, 'could of' instead of 'could have', that's my conclusion.

This could of and would of business really irks me. And I'm not even a native speaker, so I shouldn't really care, because I make plenty of mistakes myself, too. But that one is especially annoying to me, so I just can't let it slide. Another personal favorite is to v. too.

I was supposed to go to an old fashioned ladies tea party with a friend. You know where the ladies where dresses, hats and gloves drink tea and eat crumpets. My friend had invited me. It was through her church. She is no longer going because she does not feel welcome by the other ladies. We will be going to have our own tea and crumpets elsewhere! Would it be ill mannered of me to bring a few of my friends to their party and crashed high tea? Let's see Can I get any motorcycl gang members? Dommes? Punk rockers? all this over wether to wear gloves and hats to tea!

Why can't they come up with something new to fuck up?

noun > verb
dominant > dominate
ruminant > ruminate
immigrant > immigrate
intoxicant > intoxicate
supplicant > supplicate

or, adj. > verb
dominant > dominate
radiant > radiate
flagellant >flagellate

It's a common enough English usage, so I'm not sure why there's so much confusion over it. There are -ent words that also follow the pattern. It might be that dominant is used less as a noun outside of BDSM and, perhaps, the sciences. The lay person uses it, primarily, as an adjective, as in "He is a dominant man."

I sympathize with your frustration.:(

Thanks to each of you for understanding my snit over something we see here month after month after month. :rose:

And to grammatically correct myself:

Why can't they come up with something new up to fuck?
ETA: And yes, I know if I *really* want to make it grammatically correct without being ridiculous, I could say, "Why can't they fuck up something new?"

*Patented CM/BiBunny snort*

That reminds me of a(n almost certainly apocryphal) story about my department head when I was a high school English teacher.

A student passing her in the hall asked, "Where's the library at?"

The head, with a sniff, glared and responded, "Young man, at _____ High School, we do not end a sentence with a preposition! Now ask your question properly!"

The student looked at her for a moment, then smiled and asked, "Where's the library at, bitch?"

Is it possible english isn't her first language?
It *is* possible; however, one cannot tell, since she has no location listed. Given her age and the general tenor and construction of her posts, I am postulating that she likely is a native English speaker with an average American public high school education.

Gandma has had her limit. She called mom crying saying she just couldn't take anymore. I can't say I blame her, two weeks, going on three, of your husband being in the hospital and spending near the whole time with him would make the best of us crack.

So this means mom has to go spend another day at the hospital, and not sneak away with me like we had hoped.

What pisses me off is that it doesn't have to be this way. Mom is one of 4 kids! The youngest I can understand, there's a warent out for him and the oldest (who put said warent out) has said that she would turn him in if he came up. The next youngest is just an asshole drunk who doesn't want to be bothered with this. But what pisses me off the most is mom's older sister. This woman washed the bloody sheets from my step father's bed every 4 hours for 6 days straight, and after she had one "bad night" with Grandpa, now she's all self obsorbed and can't deal with it. My mom has had 14 bad nights. And now when I need her, when she needs a break, we can't spend the day together because she's the only one of her siblings that will stay with him.

And what pisses me off even more is that I'm now feeling very selfish for wanting to spend the day with my mom when I'm having a hard time.
