What we progressives and humanists need to realize

They were social liberals.

Reagan, HW Bush and Trump are neoliberals. Which are also liberals. Your redefining terms to suit your delusions and denial of modern political science notwithstanding of course.
Neoliberals are economic libertarians. The word does not mean anything else -- it has no social aspects.

Humphrey and McGovern were both better men, and would have made better presidents.
Naive, incredibly but predictably naive. Being a candidate for sainthood is no qualification for President: note Jimmy Carter. LBJ was disgusting, Nixon was a crook, and Clinton all too plausible, but all three had very significant achievements in the job as well as significant failures. Bush the lesser was, well lesser, and Reagan started the impoverishment of the middle class. Biden had a reasonable run with a better than average cabinet but leaves diminished under a cloud of contempt generated by his own hubris.

Apart from the two Rooseveldts and Truman, I cannot think of any other Presidents in the last 125 years who have left the job with their reputations enhanced. It's a tough job.

That's economic libertarianism.
Only if you stop reading there and ignore the rest of your own citation.

Again, why the compulsive need to conflate libertarians and neoliberals? They're not the same thing, they literally have different names and definitions.

Neoliberal =/= libertarian.....no matter how many time you lie otherwise.

They're not interchangeable like social democracy and communism.

He is unaware that calling himself a "chad" is tantamount to admitting stupidity. Chads are essentially supposed to be dumb jocks, after all. It's little wonder that he doesn't know what any political terms actually mean.

 You really are an idiot.

Social democracy aims to use democratic collective action for promoting freedom and equality in the economy and opposes what is seen as inequality and oppression that laissez-faire capitalism causes.

See, it's communism.

The same way you made neoliberalism and libertarianism are the same?? I can do the same thing ...exactly like you!!! I linked the wiki that I ignored 99% of so that I can redefine the terms to suit my narrative. Just like you do!!!

Oh look who doesn't understand what words mean, ANOTHER LEFTIST!!!

Totally shocked I tell ya..... you (D)ipshits wouldn't know a liberal from a fascist if John Locke and a failed Austrian painter were both smacking you retards in the fuckin' face.

I like that phrase. :)

"One system doesn't always fit all" might be true of individual students. It is not true of states. There is no reason why the school system in Alabama should be any different from New York's.
I understand you’re an advocate for big government, I’m not. We should cut the federal government in half. Eliminate redundant social programs, cut back on bloated federal departments and eliminate some departments like education, DHS. Streamline ATF, EPA, FDA.

I think everyone here is making a great point… political discussions like this are pointless. They don’t mean anything.

The trumpers won. It is absolutely imperative they be allowed to enjoy every ounce of their victory, down to the last dregs of joy. To be a good man in a world of evil is to be evil in the eyes of the world. Long live the age of plunder, at least until the inevitable recession.

Ah, so you're a victim of the Dunning-Kruger Effect. I get it now. You calling yourself a chad was my first clue.

It's hard for us to recognize this fact. Human always start from emotions and then, most often, rationalize those feelings into 'truth', that is in tune with reality.

The authoritarians and barbarians masquerading as conservatives recognize this. All of their campaigning has been to make sure their victims are consumed with emotion and never, ever get to thinking about what will happen to them under a government run by said authoritarians and barbarians.

Until we find some way of starting our policies from emotion we will continue to lose elections.
The only thing you need to realize is the extent of the colossal defeat the American people handed you on election day.

I'm not generally a fan of emotion-driven politics, counter as it is to the higher functions of logic and reason, but I suppose that most people haven't reached that level of detachment yet. That being said, I don't object to emotions being felt, as they are inevitable. We are humans, after all. We're just two or three percent on the genome from a chimpanzee or a bonobo. Given most of human history, I'd say that we are behaviorally much closer to the former than to the latter. To the extent that emotions should have any influence, it should be empathy. The utter lack of it among some on the right, indeed a kind of antipathy or anti-empathy in some cases, brings to mind what Captain Gustave Gilbert, the Army psychiatrist assigned to the Nuremberg Nazi war criminals, said about the nature of evil. "Evil, I think, is the absence of empathy."

Captain Gilbert was wrong. Anyone who has had to face true evil knows that you cannot rationalize evil or assign anything to its motives.

Streamlining on a case-by-case basis will always be arguable. But in general terms, there is nothing the federal government does that we would be better off without, and nothing that the states or the private sector could do better.

The feds couldn't codify abortion into law but the states are doing just fine.

In terms of national trends in political culture, only the popular vote is relevant.
Bullshit. The voted flipped the Senate and much of the blue wall. The policies and idiocies of Biden/Harris were roundly rejected by the American majority. Harris failed to outperform Biden in a single county in America. This was an American political prosecution of not just Harris but Biden as well. The Biden regime is irrelevant at this point.
