Such a tariff could encourage domestic production which in the end could mean more jobs and better production technology and lower prices. Many products originating overseas are produced with slave labor. A tariff might be employed for moral reasons as well.

Importers for various economic reasons may not pass the costs of tariffs onto the consumer in some scenarios. They could absorbed to protect market share for instance. Tariffs can also be a useful long term tool from a policy perspective, they can be useful in achieving long-term goals like reducing trade imbalances, protecting domestic industries, or negotiating better trade deals. While short-term price increases may occur, the longer-term benefits of these goals could outweigh the immediate cost to consumers if they are passed along.

Karma still bites. Everyone who was gloating over Trump's loss in 2020 just got some payback.

Biden and Kamala fell for a scam. A scam perpetrated on them by a media with an agenda to keep Trump out of the WH for a second term. A scam which told them they were a shoe-in. A scam which ignored reality in favor of a fake narrative created by the very media reporting on it.

With the world burning, Biden didn't have a chance. Hindsight proves that to be the case but the reality is; even without the media touting its lies and hiding the truth, Biden, Kamala, the DNC, and even progressive Litsters should have seen it coming. That you didn't only shows that you lied to yourselves and then tried to lie to the rest of us.
