That looks delish, Collar!

I'll be eating later at Langford's Grocery. As featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.

Pictures to come. :)

Is it a special occasion, seela? The shoulder is bubbling away, how are you cooking it? I would probably slow roast a shoulder.
No special occasion, just a weekend dinner with friends. Salmon roe was on sale yesterday so I just couldn't walk past it.

I simmered the shoulder in stock with onion, garlic and rosemary for 4-5 hours, let it cool down in the liquid and then sliced and panfried it. I used some of the liquid to make gravy, the rest I froze to use later.

It was very lovely and tender, well received by all. :)

Ooooh challenge accepted (Master willing)! Guy Fieri appeared at one of our favorite local burger joints (Joe's Farm Grill) several years ago, much to my daughter's delight (she got a signed photo). It's VERY good and now I have a craving, especially since the weather is nice enough to be able to sit outside.

Lankford's update. It was Nom! :cattail:

There's a pic of the front, unfortunately obscured by a car. It's in an old house, with the garage converted to be the inside of the restaurant. The old driveway is filled with red picnic tables and umbrellas for outdoor seating. We went sort of between breakfast and lunch, so both options were on the menu.

I had the breakfast special, Chicken Hash. Chicken, potatoes, peppers, onions, a few jalapeños. The mix was layered on 3 fried corn tortillas and topped with in-house queso.

Boudin was "special" item. Tasty, with quite a bit of heat!

Last, but certainly not least, was the Grimm burger. (In my opinion it's called The Grimm as an indicator of your chances for survival if you eat one in it's entirety! :D) The Grimm is a half-pound burger topped with bacon, cheese, a fried egg, and, because one can never have enough cheese...macaroni and cheese. The second pic is of a half eaten, to show off the egg. Let me just say that the picture does not really represent how large it is. Apparently it is delicious. :)

That looks pretty awesome!
We have a Triple D joint (or two) here as well. They make an awesome lamb burger, and I haven't been there in a while.
Hmmmmm... :D

Wonderful! Thanks for posting. What prompted you to get the child's portion, though? :p

An urge for ramen ended up with me sitting in a new ramen place, Dragons.... An impressive little place that makes their own noodles. And...wait for it...they have a gluten free option for noodles!

Admittedly the GF noodles are not made in-house, and are basically just rice. Still, they're pretty darn edible, and the in-house noodles are phenomenal!!!!! Nearly everything is made in the restaurant, including broth, shoyu, soy sauce, most of the condiments (most of which I can't pronounce and certainly can't spell). They had two categories of ramen, Shoyu and Tonkotsu, then several types with each broth. The difference between the two categories is the broth type. The Shoyu is a thin, light, meat based broth. The Tonkotsu is a bone broth simmered fro several days which results in a very rich broth.

We had Tampopo Ramen and Shoyu Tonkotsu Ramen. The Shoyu Tonkotsu Ramen is unique, being a 1/2 and 1/2 mixture of of both broth types. Really good stuff! :)

Still a little under the weather. Saturday we survived on leftovers and Mister kinda took care of a lot. I was really happy he did because I needed a lot of breaks. Sunday we had a more relaxed day and I started feeling better so for dinner we finally got to have the grilled fish. The house still has a kind of fishy smell.

This morning I served the rest of the fish and some other leftovers from last night. :) I'm going to need a nap today. (_ _).。o○ Here's what we had for breakfast.

Do you have an entire moose to cook, seela? :p

Just about. :D I still have 2.5kg of mince and another shoulder to go through.

J's boss is a hunter and he asked if we'd like some meat. I told J to take some and he came back with over 8kg of various bodyparts.

It's like J and the rhubarb all over again, except now it's a meat edition. When I asked him to bring enough rhubarb for one pie, he brought back so much that over a year later we still have some of it in our very tiny freezer.

Something's fishy about this breakfast :p
That's a hell of a way to start a Monday! :)

^_^ Mister just asked for the pictures so he could brag at work. :p

Ah~ I was going to ask about all the moose you've been cooking. :) How is moose? I'm sure Mister would be excited to eat it. Hm... Actually, maybe he's already had moose? I'll have to ask him.

Question!

I'm planning to make cookies for the holidays for Mister's coworkers and employees. He likes showing appreciation so I thought it would be a nice gesture.

How many cookies seems appropriate per person? I think I always panic when it comes to how many is right. Is it too much or too little? 0_o;;

I would say about 1.5 per person? That would be about 3 dozen cookies for 25 people. Maybe up that ratio for a small or intimate group where nobody will feel shy about grabbing a cookie, ior a second cookie :) Some people could be on vacation as well, if you get too close to the holidays, so that really seems like enough to me. If he puts them out in the afternoon, after lunch, they should stretch further than in the morning, seeing as most people eat lunch but not breakfast...

What about individualized gifts?

And now that you mention it I should make a tray for the office as a whole. The individual gifts would be for people on his level and above. I don't think anyone will be on vacation as I think his company specifically blocks out those dates.

(-_-) It's why we can't spend certain days together like New Year's Eve/Day... :(
