Where are the New England Peeps?

If you think New Englanders care all that much about grammar, you probably don’t live here. I thought his reply was wicked cool.
Rolls eyes. Typical of the sort of pseudo-intellectualism you find masquerading as the real McCoy on these pages.

1. "You would (do)" is not "past perfect". It is the conditional tense and its use is certainly indicated after a term such as "guess".
2. "You will (do)" is not the future perfect ("you will (have done)" but the simple future.

Perhaps learn your grammar before crossing swords with someone who has a sharper blade...

North Shore > South Shore. Except for Lynn. Nothing good comes out of Lynn. Well, except Marshmallow Fluff.

(Disclaimer: I grew up in Lynn)
Fluff is from Somerville… and I think Lynn is starting to get a gentrification revival. There are some nice places by the beach!

And yes, NS is way better than SS!

It was the joke about “peeps” being a beloved Easter candy. You know, the joke you didn’t get.

Seriously, one of the things New Englanders enjoy is mocking the pretentious... out of curiosity, have you ever visited?

I do believe the genuine English got in there first as regards satire and deflation of "the pretentious"... you know: as in, for example, purporting falsely a mastery of grammar.

Seriously.

Additionally, I don't see how anyone who doesn't live in America - i.e. the vast majority of the global population - can be expected to know what silly names are given there to "candy", whatever that might be. Do you mean sweets?

No, no intention of ever visiting a place that has a beloved lethal weapon around every corner.

Peeps are a name brand. Little marshmallows covered in colored sugar shaped like bunnies or chicks. Popular around Easter.
I think it’s weird that you came to a thread created for its geographical location in America, but all you have done is made snide remarks? Anyone in New England knows what a peep is. No one in this thread “expects” anyone foreign to this country to know what one is? Did I miss a post where someone ridiculed you for not knowing about peeps?

Despite the evidence provided by Liverpoolmaster, I

Well, I kind of did. (Grammarians, please comment on this sentence).

His exalted British self-congratulatory one made fun of the OP for using "peep" as a slang term for "people," claiming that a "peep" is really a bird. So, I pointed out that "peep" is also a slang term for a sandpiper, suggesting a double standard on his part. (Which, may I say, he has gone out of his way since to demonstrate.) I then explained to him what a Peep really is.
He seems to have an odd and amusing compulstion about making comments that are rather revealing of his character. It bothers Deadbed, who started this thread, but I find him to be the source of considerable enoyment.

Yea, not exactly my cup of Earl Grey…

Honestly, I've stopped reading those posts knowing he's a red coat. Best to not engage and give him the attention he's clearly seeking. Just my two cents.

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

So regularly scheduled programming… we did best beaches and ice cream. How about brewery? (And nobody better say Sam Adams!)

I have zero issues with the UK. I have issues with people who have no chill…
On of my longest friendly and platonic Lit friends is in UK. There are good and bad/annoying people in every country. That's why we're referred to as individuals. Celebrate diversity seek common ground, expand your thinking. Those are traits worth demonstrating and seeking in others.

Originally, yes, but Fluff has been made in east Lynn fo since 1929. The gentrification of Lynn has been talked about since I was a kid in the late 80s, early 90s, but it still hasn't come to fruition.

Hell, it took them what, 20 years to start working on the new bridge between Lynn and the marsh road in Saugus? The "temporary" bridge there has been up since the early aughts and it was only supposed to last a few years.
