There really should be a letter halfway between them. That is properly what it sounds like. It really is a linguistic phenomenon, as my grandmother just never could get it right, and she lived here in the States for almost 50 years. She got to the point where you could distinguish between the letters, and of course she knew the difference, but the sound was never fully distinct.

one "car" can totally be better for a purpose then another "car" but you wouldn't pick based on the color of the car, you'd pick based on the make/model/engine/chasis etc... Something like that. Our racial categories themselves are a weird amalgam of geography and arbitrary physical traits (inconsistent) that we decided were important.

I mean ear wax texture could just as easily be a marker as hair texture.
