Who's eyes are you looking through?

I like writing in the 3rd person, because it's easier to switch from one character's pov to the other.

For Ffreak and any others try this one for how to 'cheat' with 2nd person; Lauren's Mastubatory Musings by BridgetKeeney

I write first person or third.

Oddly enough the reason that I found Lit. was that I wrote a second person for a particular someone who said I should try Literotica.

So I did.

And aren't you very sorry.

Not at all son, nice to have you here to look after the old man:D

Writings, well first second third, bloke down the road, it all depends on the story line and how I want to get it across to the reader, mainly third though I must admit and almost always male.

Yeah, so Bridgett is exceptional (I could have told you that anyway).

But I did say "a letter is probably the only case I can think of where 2nd person sounds right". So you/Bridgett just proved my point.

I do admit the voyeuristic sense is heightened when you read someone else's letter - something that you know is private.

(if it's a threesome, is it still private?)

too kind

*blushing* you guys are too sweet.

LMM was a really fun one to write. Lauren's letter was so intimate, there wasn't a way to express the strength of her desire for Paul any other way but in second person. The whole series was in third, so I adapted for this one.

I like writing second for the reason I stated above. Some of what I read in first is sooooo intimate, that I can't imagine anyone ever "telling" someone the details to a distant someone.

That being said, I have written my last two stories in first. Two of my very short pieces are in second.. they are fun and light. The rest are in third.

Third gives me the flexibility to share the thoughts of characters that would never be spoken aloud. In first I am aware of just what the speaker would really say versus what they think.

I love proving the rule. :D

Wow -- Lauren's Masturbatory Musings was a great read. Very well done. A letter is the only way I think the second-person thing works, though ... I really can't read a lot of the I did/You did stories here on Lit.

Early on, I realized that the majority of my readership was female, and since then I've generally presented things in a third-person limited perspective from the female protagonist's POV. As a general rule, I think women prefer erotica more than men -- hell, romance novels are like a porno mag to some women.

Lately I've been experimenting with more first-person stuff, though, and I do enjoy the immediacy of it. I think it does depend on the story and what mood you're trying to set.

Both times I've tried to write from the female POV have been first person affairs.... Go figure..

I prefer to write in the first person, female perspective.. but I am toying with an idea from the male perspective...
I have not attempted third person yet.
