Why do people read erotica?

eorotica vs. pornography

Erotica is about arrousal.Porn is about sex.
Having said that, some people are going to love what you write and some are going to hate it.There is nothing you can do about this.
Post or publish when you think it's right.Get it in front of as many people as you can and it will find it's audience.

People write erotica for the same reasons they write other things:to share an expression of their creativity.
The same way you share the creativity of those killer websites you design.
If you have any fantasies you would like explored,pm me and I'll see what I can do.

Oh I know, I was just more or less saying, "why do people ask stupid fucking questions?"

It's like, why ask why?

And now you can ask me, Why do I ask why people ask why?

and so on...

I ask this because I know that I read it for enjoyment and because it excites me. When I read a story I am not in the editing mind and I don't pick a story apart just because the writer may not spell very well. I have a few stories on here and I know sometimes my writing isn't professional but guess what... I'm not a professional writer. I write for my own enjoyment and if when others read it they enjoy it then that's great.

This is coming from a few comments I've received about my writing and though I think everyone is entitled to their opinions I find it rude when someone is going to basically trash my writing and not even have the guts to put their name to it. The stories I put on here are for enjoyment only and I never post a story until a couple of days after I've written them so it's not like I'm "rushing to get one done" for this site.

I can take constructive critism so it's not that I'm being a baby. I just think if you have something negative to say you should be willing to have your name on the message and give me the opportunity to answer you.

I know this doesn't matter to 99% of the members here but I had to post this because it was really bugging me. I do apologize if I've offended anyone.

it isn' always intended to be nasty, when someone points out gramatical errors. One reason you may gt this occasionally is that a person reading may infer from your posting stories here you are a little more serious about your writing than you may be. Some of us who post here are very serious and anytime a feedback has some specific gripes we look at them.

If it's BS, you delete it and go on. If it hs merit, you work on fixing it. Public vetting of your work is just about th eonly way you will sharpen your grasp of the technical tools of the craft of writing.

Take each feedback as it comes. Take each with an open mind. Just be ready to toss out the personal attacks with the same readiness you have to incorporate the constructive feedback and you wil find it's not a bad way at all to improve yourself, even if you have no intent of ever writing more than to share your fantasies.

Hey Folks :)

Well, People read Erotica for all of the reasons that have been posted here in this thread, and people WRITE erotica for all the reasons too. My personal style is to go the romantic course. I love steamy hot sex, but even more i like it with purpose behind it.

I'm a 24 year old bisexual woman, and my most favorite to write is gay romantica! hehe. Now, i've gotten a lot of brilliant feedback, good constructive comments and people telling how much they love my work - on the other hand i've had a person write me telling me that if i dont have a cock i have no right to write about gay sex. :laughs: Which is amusing, cause if i really didnt know what the hell i was talking about i highly doubt i'd have been the top gay story more then once in a month :grins wickedly:
Yea, it upset me to get that annon(of course) nasty bit of feedback, but i had to just accept that they obviously didnt read anything i wrote. They just looked for some one to bash - Not that some one couldn't dislike my work, but when 99 percent of my comments are possitive and everyone else seems to believe that i've gotten a handle on the gay sex pretty well, then i think i'd better go with the majority!!

Now, on the other hand, i've been the writer of constructive feedback myself. But i have the balls to write my name, my email, and offer to talk or discuss my noticings. For example, i'm a hypnotherapist. And there is a particular poster on this site who posts hypnosis stories that are utterly and completely unrealistic (to the point it's actually furtheringthe misconceptions of hypnosis, and that upsets me for business reasons. Hypnosis is a wonderful tool for all types of things, but you can not not not force people into things using it. You just cant. It's ridiculous. You don't hypnotize people into fucking you. Sorry heh) And upon writing feedback tothis man, he never replied, which actually kinda bugs me too - i wanted to talk to another hypnotherapist, give and get responses. But i guess that he wasnt interested.

So, here are the ways i use to limit my nasty feedback AND my nasty votes. I put a disclaimer in front of each of my stories. If there is questionable content that some people don't like (BDSM, pain play, things like that) I make sure to mention it. I tell people that if they are looking for a quick stroke, to please move on because that's not what this is. I tell people that it's a fantasy based story (Vampires, demons, wereleopards, angels) or what not. And then for the one story that WASNT fantasy based, i let them know that too since my fans grew to expect the fantasy characters in my stories.

Put everything up front, in italics in the begining of the story and you will find more people will read it that are actually interestedin the content you wrote about! (it really really helps. I've noticed a huge difference since i started doing this) And then at the end of the story, put another note thanking them for their time and requesting feedback and a vote, and asking them to give you honest feedback! That also seems to help, and reminds people to vote if they did indeed like your story. (which is always good)

Sooo, das my two cents. I hope that helps some people

(PS, i ALWAYS love to hear feedback on my work. right now i'm really looking for feedback on my Slave to Love Chapters. There's a link below for those of you who like BDSM and Gay romantica/erotica. Oh yea, and i have some straight stories too, hehe)

Why wite OR read erotica?

Because it can or does feed the persons' sexual needs. Literary erotica is going to enhance a fullfilment within many people that they can't always seem to get what they need. I enjoy writing it because they like or love the ideas and what is involved in it.

When I read erotica I read it for one thing only and that is to masturbate too. I want to get off on a story. I don't look for spelling mistakes on stories about sex. I think most people read erotica for the same reason I do. I can also take the fact that it could be easy to make a spelling mistake while writing a story. I know the few writers I have talked to have said they write something they would masturbate too and some even do end up masturbating while writing there stories.

It can be interesting if you find a good story.
Outside of hentai I can never find porn that has attractive people and matches the feitshes I like.
"I was reading erotica." is less awkward to say than "I was watching porn."
I am incapable of forming or maintaining intimate relationships with real people. For whatever reason I can do so with fictional characters (it's not as creepy as it sounds).
