Why?

Does anyone read poems on lit anymore? It appears that very few people really bother unfortunately.

good to see you, bb. :) hope all's well.

for me, daily reading of the 'new poems' is something time and taste do not allow anymore. i've always thought reading the poetry on the threads here was more appealing anyway, and a better way to use time.

a new writer with talent does pop up from time to time in the 'new poems,' and they are usually mentioned in the daily reviews.

I cannot believe Lauren wussed out like that.
I was at work. Trust me, you don't want to see all the boobs over there.

PS: What happened to your kangaroo-rat poem? I was on my way to comment on it now, and it disappeared!

Hi TRM. I've had a couple of wicked months with work and family problems and such and rethinking what I'm doing but hopefully I'll be around for awhile.

While I have your attention I tried to buy your book but for some reason my credit card wasn't accepted. Is there any other way of buying it?

I don't think a poem submitted to Lit can be considered published. Lit is an archive, a repository without editorial control for poetry. It's an online shoebox where we keep all the poems together.
Online shoebox!
I started saving all my lit poems and had even decided to remove them all (earlier this year or last year) but didn't. And that's because it really is a great place to keep them. There are dates on them and there's an index! You gotta love that.
And I do appreciate lit for what it is. It's great for novice poets and even for those of us who have been around for awhile. It's a fine place for non-poets to get their poetry online just so they can say, "look honey! that poem I wrote for you is online for the world to see." :cathappy:

Didn't you use to do that every year? I remember the 2002 crisis, and I know there was at least one or two in 2003 as well. :D

hope things are better now. :rose:

i think there is a drop-down menu for "country" on paypal, no? someone from Canada mentioned to me they couldn't order either, but when they went back they noticed the "country" option.

if you still have trouble, get back to me when it's in print (late November/early December it looks like) . . . i'll see that you get one, one way or the other.

Uh! Yes.
Approximately twice a year, I start a goodbye thread and begin the removal process.
I believe I've done it once this year. Maybe.
Anyway, I'm leaving for good and taking all my poems with me and shut up Lauren.

You should have been feeling guilty because tomorrow is the last day to give feedback, but apparently I'm the only one feeling guilty about that! Go put the poem back in! :D

You were in the process of storming out when I just got here. Then Angeline left and I was paniced and someone told me, don't worry they do this all the time, they will be back :)

I have not used my exit for 2006 yet! Although I will not do it now because that would be three and it could be seen as some kind of comspiracy

Why has Clutching_calliope deleted her poems in this forum and who drove her away? When other more vocal poets announce their imminent departure it's somehow less painful when they do go than when one of Callies caliber slips away silently. I'm really disappointed with he direction this forum is taking. Too many fine poets lose heart and leave, too many others post too infrequently. I keep checking in to see if things have improved and I'll continue to - I guess.

<mourning a hummimgbird>
I notice that Clutching_calliope deletes her posts (all of them) from time to time. It isn't just the poems, but every single post. Mysterious enough, sure, but it is her own doing and one that repeats regularly, which would go against the theory that someone "drove her away." She's a self-directed and self-sufficient person who I am sure makes her own choices for her own reasons (or that's what I gather, anyway). Sometimes people leave not just because they lose heart but because they get busy. Problem is that I see new posters often who don't stick around. Vital to the place, I would think, would be welcoming and retaining the new voices as well as enjoying the posts of familiar names. Many poets do this by reading the New Poems list and leaving feedback or replying to new poets. Maybe we should all make a point of it? Not that I have time to except for one day a week. So I'm kinda talkin' outta my ass here as they say in New Jersey. (They say this, incidentally, with my and ass forming one dipthonged word like--maiyasss! :D )

It was this

in the perfect 10 thread that made me wonder. I don't feel it is prying to inquire because she did post it for all of us to see and wonder.

I've been really lazy about commenting although I do try to read and vote on all the new poems. I have promised myself to comment more - believe it or not I was once at the top of the "frequent commenters" list.
