Willing to edit

you know, if you don't want to submit it, but do sometime feel like finishing writing it, you can feel free to post it here on this thread. there are several people who come here and read, even if not all of them post.

thanks for the support of my story, i've enjoyed writing it more than i ever thought i would :D

I thought it violated TOS to post full text of stories?

If it doesn't I've got some I'd like help on.

it's not, there are many people who post stories on the thread instead of submitting them on the story side, depends on the operator as to whether they want it taking up space on their thread, and it if follows the theme of the thread, if you post a story on a blurt thread, you're more likely to get complaints about it

I don't mind if he (anyone) posts it, and this is an editing thread, so he (anyone) will have to be willing to accept critism on the story as well....it will be my and other posters responsibility to keep critisms productive and kind

that's fine....i've gotten stories from you before? correct? you can post a story here, or pm it to me....i wouldn't post too many at a time, you'll have trouble getting critiques back on them

It does and it doesn't. If your story has been rejected because of underage characters, bestiality, rapist-fantasy etc... I wouldn't recommend you post it on the boards as posting something deemed unsuitable can create as much problems to Lit's owners as them accepting to post in on the story lists.

If you're posting bit and pieces that you have problems with and you need help; it fine.

thank you LadyCi,

I was just coming back to edit my post to include that to tell him that any unacceptable content would be reported and taken down.

No problem, Meg.

I've seen the help you've given people and I meant to thank you for your hard work for a while now, but I never had the chance.

So, now, allow me to thank you.:rose:

Geeky_Lover,

I've thought for a good part of the day about your question and have decided to clarify my previous post. Along with not posting a story that goes against Literotica rules, you said that you thought posting a full story on a thread was wrong. Many people here write less than fully fleshed out stories that they are having problems expanding. They will often post a story, making notations of where they feel their story is lacking.

The minimum requirement for a Lit story is 750 words, with the majority of the stories running anywhere form 3,000 to say 9,000 words. If you have a short story that you feel does not have the development you would like, you may post the sections you wish modified along with the paragraph before or after so those making comments know where you are going, or even longer sections to give them a better idea.

The problem you are running into is, this is a thread, not a webpage. If your post is too long of a story, many people will pass it by because you have not clarified where you want help and they are not interested in reading an entire story on a thread. If what you are asking for is actual editing help, you are much better off finding a specific editor and discussing with that editor exactly where you feel your story is weak and needs help.

I never read anything of any length from a thread or pm, I always copy the story to my own word processing program where I can make notes and corrections as I go. In addition, it hurts my eyes to read very long posts on a thread.

I do believe I mentioned to you earlier in this thread that if you want general feedback for your story, you can post it in the story feedback forum and there are people there who read and comment on the stories posted. If you think that your writing is underdeveloped or grammatically lacking, you can post sections here for people to give editing feedback on.

I hope this clarifies the answer for your question.

The only thing I lack is feel and flow (I either spend too few or too many words before the "action"). Oh, in series I sometimes forget continuity: I gave a character a red hair or a different-sized [place body part here], less than a day story-wise.

so, go to story feedback and post there?

The sad thing about this is the series I want the context help on is 5 almost-finished stories at about 40,000 to 50,000 words (i.e. 8-10k words per) and no one I have asked had been available at the time (and I went low pressure to ask them to PM or email me when their schedules cleared)... no responses. How do I get an editor here?

I do NOT want to "mass mail" a dozen simultaneously, because with my luck I'm either going to get several 'yeses' or those editors happen to chat with each other and assume I'm a spammer or something.

Hugs,
-- Chris

send it to me and i'll read it.....but sent it only a chapter at a time :)

hope things are doing fine with everyone. anyway, hope the stories keep comming. I love them meg:)

thanks jessy, i wanted the last one out this week, but i'm leaving today until thurs so it looks like htat will fall through....sorry :(

I know it's frustrating to wait, I really do. I hated when I was only a reader and I would wait what seemed like forever for an update to a story. I'll get an update out this week.

I do want to thank you for your enthusiasm, though. It means a lot to me that other people like this story as much as I do. :)

one of the few stories that had me interested. SO yes, i do enjoy it and im sure other do.

glad your a writer.

ok all, i have a question....i've been thinking that we need a thread in here where we can put the names of editor's and writers, a central location for people to go to instead of each individual posting their own threads.

i think it's been done before, but i don't know how successful it was. i was wondering if this would interest anyone. and if it does, i would be willing to index the list, but anyone can have it.

so basically, you would just post your name to the thread and the thread OP would add your name to the first post for anyone to come browse through their choices. when you wanted it taken down, same thing.

does anyone have any thoughts on this? would it even be worth a try?

just a thought

I think it's a good idea. My initial thought was to revive a thread like that that's already been posted but then you wouldn't be able to index it. So my next thought was....create one..it is worth the effort. but perhaps reference another editing thread and pm a couple of other editors to post on this thread when it starts.. so that this thread starts with some real power?

Good Idea!!!!

thanks you two....:rose:

i would like to get a more universal response, if no one wants to particpate, it's not worth it, i just thought it might be helpful

Added: Happy Birthday GL, I just saw it, sorry I'm a couple of days late. I hope it was great :rose:

It's been tried, and several different variants thereof, but they did not amount to much and I can tell you that generally, the idea did not work well.

I sympathize with the thought behind it and I do think it would be a great help, but the powers that be do not seem interested in any improvements to the VE system at the time, and without their help it would be tough to create anything of the sort that could be efficient.

I'll see if I can dig up some of the threads this was discussed in for you.

Your idea is good and all...but, it's not achievable. It's been tried, suggested, talked about adnauseum and it never amounted to anything.

You can't force an editor to post in such a thread, just like you can't force a writer to, exclusively, go into such a thread. I know your suggestion stems from good intention but, logically, it's a no-go. :(

I don't think it's a no go.. I think maybe the idea needs to be shortened or reeled in a bit.

All you need is about 3-4 editors to post in on a regular basis. we already have one with Meg---then perhaps a few others popping in when they have time to offer words of wisdom--The editors can exchange Ideas...some editors and writers will be married together of course but due to lack of editors...the thread will become more of a proof reading forum and quick ideas such as.... "I scanned your story and you need to work on your paragraph breaks...see this story as an example" etc.

as with life this thread can stay alive with a small core ..I'll post and bump it to keep it going..and over time it will transform and morph into whatever it becomes. it will also be a small clearing house for the authors to proof read and bounce ideas off of each other.

what do you think?

Unless I misunderstand what you're saying, here's what I think:

I think, once again, that it's all good and well....BUT, there is already a venue to post story fragment and receive comments. It's called the Story Feedback Forum.

I think it would be redundant to create a thread that would serve the exact same purpose that the Story Feedback Forum does.

Furthermore, the part I've put in blue. I don't know that many editors who'd be willing the give their comments and suggestions in open air like that; just like I don't think there would be many writers who'd want their story shredded to pieces in the open.

Further-furthermore, a writer posting even a single fragment of something that is deemed unsuitable by Lit's standard (underage-bestiality-rapist fantasy etc...) could and definitely would create problems for Lit's owners. If the story doesn't pass Lit's censors, it would defeat the purpose of censorship to put some unacceptable bits on the forum.

Keep in mind that any story unsuitable for posting is also unsuitable for the Forums and could create as many problems to Lit's owners as if they'd have approved it.

Good points. in response I offer the following: (not arguing with you, but bouncing my ideas off of you ...since you definately know what your talking about)

1.Many new writers are afraid to post in the Story Feedback Forum..since they are new and especially writers like myself with no concept of grammer or spelling! lol

2. This would be a smaller thread/more comfy etc. for new writers-sort of redundant I understand, since this had been tried before, but I think this one would tanscend and survive.

3. The bouncing story ideas/proofreading/feedback that I was talking about above would be done via PM-the great thing about this thread is that there would be, perhaps and index or list of people that would be open to proofreed/edit/and offer feedback.
