Angeline said:Well good on you. You found an example--and I know you can find a few others--of in-fighting among the people I mentioned. Difference is that it was nowhere as prolonged or personally vituperative as it has been here over the past year. Nor was there an ongoing subtext--as there is now--that there's a single right way to write poems or to critique them.
And I knew YDD, too. She commented on most of the poems I submitted and she was honest, yes, but not unkind. Mainly she was good people. You think she'd want to be the memorial figurehead of ongoing dissention that distracts people from writing and learning? I think not. I think she'd probably want people to educate themselves, sure, but mainly just write. Do you disagree that the best way to learn is to invest time in writing as opposed to arguing?
I don't think people need to be handled with kid gloves, but I don't see what purpose is served by beating up on those who disagree with the way you've decided to interpret the word according to Saint YDD.
I was here then and I am now. "Shamalot" is unfair and a disservice to some wonderful people who aren't here to defend themselves. I see a big difference from then. You can agree or not--I didn't expect you to, but it seems to me that a poetry forum that invests most of its energy in fighting over everything under the sun is not a particularly effective one--not for encouraging poetry.
annaswirls said:yes I think it will have to be you because I really think there is no clear naughty one here.
drop em' mister monkey... over the knee...
I think I will do the spanking and get Seattle to do the man milking, I hear it is a healthy practice!
hmm maybe we can do a bit of waxing for the fur. I hope you do not have a busy morning scheduled, once we get you naked over our knee, there is a lot that needs to be done.

Maria2394 said:no, Dear Monkey Man, NO one is wrong, hummmmm, hummmm, all is right , hummm hummmm
do you have any idea what it takes for me not to try to kiss everyones butt just to keep the harmony arond here, at home, on a board, in a thread, at work? And its never about me anyway. I get tired if the fighting and the idolizing of a few academically worshipped poets, some of whom never even graced us with their won works, which I would have loved to read some of, but never asked because I was too pansy to even state that I would lhave enjoyed reading something he/she/they wrote.
Being a peacemaker in any sense sucks when you are the one trying to do it alone, because you are never right to anyone, and sit in a corner alone, wishing you had the nuts to take a side. I dont sit alone anymore because of that, other reasons, yes, but not that.... and there are more than a few peacemakers here, arent there?
no one is ever wrong, hummmmm hummmm its all perception, hummmm hummmm hummmmm
Angeline said:Just think how nice it would be if you didn't feel you had to be a peacemaker or that you didn't need to worry about whose feelings would be hurt if they didn't get the proper respect, etc. I don't want anyone kissing my butt (well except the guy who sleeps tucked up to it every night), but I've had a few offered up to me here. I always take the high road because my mama taught me that's the right thing to do.
