Authentically surprised that nobody posted this. I thought there were a lot of other Gen X folks running around here! It's late era REM and far more earnest than quirky, but I've always enjoyed this record and this song.

I just realized/learned that this riff that one of my favorite poets uses at the beginning & end of their poem “I Do” is actually from a song. This song! And it’s a great one. Thank for you this share .
I hit play on the song and I was like, wait a minute—this sounds so familiar!

This was a tough one. I had a bunch of songs on the shortlist. These lyric prompts are always tough for me because I have so many to choose from.

Ultimately I went with this Crane Wives song because I’ve been playing it a lot lately and it’s beautiful.

This line is so good…

I was raised on a mix of doo-wop and classic rock. I cannot count the number of times I sang that riff at the top of .lungs to annoy my mom while she was on the phone (usually with my aunt who I knew would laugh, which would just make my mom more grumpy )
