Day 1: A song that reminds you of a really good day
I feel pretty neutral about this song, but the memory associated is so good. There’s a house not too far from us that has a whole setup around holiday time with lights that are synced to music. You tune your radio to a station that they have posted and park in their cul de sac and watch the show. It was so well done and my kids loved it. The display for this song was great and we were all singing along. Every time my son hears this song he mentions that light show and how fun it was. Can’t wait to do it again this year.
Day 2: A song for your pool party playlist
Bright Eyes at a pool party?? Yes. This new song has ska vibes and could absolutely be added to a pool party playlist. Mine, at least
Day 3: A song that mentions a specific car/truck make or model
“And I've embraced the calamity
With a detachment and a passive disinterest
Livin' out the back of my '97 Camry
Wonderin' how the hell I got myself into this”
Day 4: A song by a band you’d really like to see live
Wouldn't list them as a favorite band or anything. Don’t know more than the radio hits. But I have repeatedly heard them listed as a band that puts on a really amazing show.
I might have used this for something else a month or two go, but it's a really lively, vibe-y pop song with a whole trove of sing-along, quotable lyrics like: 'If you don't think straight, you're in luck, I'm open late'
Man, so many good options for this that I almost went with one of my 10 favorite songs of all time, but I'm keeping that in my back pocket for something more specific. This happens to be one of my favorite newer bands of the last few years, and you can hear (to my ears) so much good hook-giving in their songs while still maintaining a bunch of punk-pop type roots. Anyways, the title gives it away a bit, but def give a listen.
I've been lucky enough to see Paul McCartney a couple of times, but to have been in attendance for a show with all four Beatles would have been incredible.
Day 4: A song from a band you really want to see live.
Obviously I would need the wayback machine for this, but seriously. (Seriously!) Go back and watch videos from their '91 show at the Paramount, where they are just as business-like and raw and powerful as ever.
I saw this band live last night and they are awesome and ridiculous at the same time. If you ever get a chance to see them live, I highly recommend going. They played this last night as well.
Day 4: A Song by a Band You'd Really Like to See Live
I don't have the patience or tolerance for concerts that I did 15 years ago. But, if I was in my twenties (2000's) and the tickets weren't too exorbitant($200-$500)...
