Where i live it can easily be over 100 in the summer...and I have seen -47 in the winter. That's real temps...not adjusted for wind chill. I will take over 100 any day.

Isn't it like anything? If you focus on being miserable...is it really any surprise you are miserable?

My fix? No long hair. I wear a cowboy hat...the brim works wonders

Used to be like just a part of my daily routine. Now I’ll forget about it for a few days, then suddenly want to invade a small island nation and steal their women. 🙄

It's already been hot as heck here. I dunno, 106*? 107*? Something like that. We're getting a little break this coming week, but after that we'll be like bacon in a Lodge skillet for the next five months!

Preparation for the assault goes like this:

*Replace seven layers of quilts and comforters with 1 top sheet and 1 bedspread
*Empty closet of everything that isn't loose and flowing
*Hang roll-up blinds on the outside of all windows facing east, south, and west
*Cut to fit brown paper bags and apply to bedroom windows with tape (Yes, we are those people. My daughter uses foil. We cackle at the thought that anyone might imagine we have the time or energy to run a meth lab.)
*Cover interior windows with blankets when it gets THAT bad
*Break out oscillating fans for every bedroom, kitchen and living room, and box fans for front and back doors
*Keep freezer stocked with bags of ice, fridge with sweet tea!
*Use swamp cooler overnight if necessary, but give it a rest between 8 and noon if at all possible
*Make sure everyone has a functioning water bottle and is using it
*Pass out wet hand towels to wear as this season's hottest accessory. May be worn wrapped around the neck, gently draped over the head, across the bare midriff of someone who has just fainted dead away, or wherever produces the most pleasing results


Personally, when I get home from work I strip and soak in a tub for at least 30 minutes. Cold tap wide open, hot tap OFF. Something icy and alcoholic in my hand.🍹

I'm not sure the constraints of this site allow it, and it would probably be a major project to set up, but a structured section for ampics with sensible thumbnail galleries and categories. Posters are very resourceful at working within the constraints of the site as is, but it's decades behind any kind of proper ampics site.

And yes, this is Lit, and the site's raison d'être is the written word rather than pics, but there's clearly a group of folk here who want to do ampics too.

I would subtract GB and Politics. On this site, I don’t get the point of them. Shouldn’t this place be an oasis from society’s flame wars?

Yes. It should. All I'd say is...having a designated cesspit for that stuff means the rest of us can steer clear.

I don't know about that. Sometimes it gets pretty acrimonious here in the PG, so why not just encourage all the rage rants to keep to the GB and Political typecasting threads???

Absolutely not. Denial of the issue IS WHY THERE IS A PROBLEM in the first place. If you want to live in a Fascist country...cool. if you want to interact with Fascists...cool. But not me.

I have no place in my life for Fascist traitors...and if you voted for one...you are one.

I have had to talk with my 12 yr old daughter about why it is unsafe to talk about politics because houses around here seem to catch fire in the last couple months...and every single one of them had a Biden sign during the election. Should I have to carry a gun to feel safe? Is that the America you want? Well...it is what is happening. So go ahead...have your safe haven...
