I won't add more rambles but I think this is spot on.
I'd add the two additions of ¹what is considered "cool" is very fucking subjective and I might think something is deeply cool that you don't and I might be offended to be looped into things someone else considers very cool and ² the constant confusion of public perception with private interaction. One does not equal the other and, in fact, rarely does. For me anyway.

I absolutely hear you.
With similar experiences to you when , it is seriously weird when suddenly I appear to be flavour of the month.
It was very noticeable in my 20’s when it turned out I was catnip to ladies with university degrees!
Other than that, life is what I make it. And I kinda prefer it that way.
