15-minute cities

There is not a single thing about living in a city that interests me in the least. I like the quiet of rural life, the forest, the animals, and for the most part having our own little piece of paradise. I know for some driving 25 to 45 minutes to town, depending which town we are going to, is more than they want and that's okay by me. I don't want to live so close to people I hear their toilets flush and them yelling at their kids.

Amen and pass the plate.

The rich are not ever going to use public transportation.

The poor have a proclivity towards things like kidnapping, ransom and death...
In LA last year about 20 people died on trains and buses. Not killed, just died while they were on transit. About 300 people were killed by cars. About half were pedestrians run down by careless drivers.

Golly, maybe LA should ban the private ownership of cars.

you live in a flyover state with an above-ground pool and shitty internet. no thanks.

Gentrification of poor neighborhoods and rich people refusing to ride public are moot points if everyone is poor. The whole USA becoming too poor to afford suburbs is why we are going back to walkable communities.

We have amazing internet thanks to a federal grant and matching state money for infrastructure.

Yes sir, we have a great above ground pool too!

Too general a comment that is not applicable everywhere.

how the fuck did you miss the point of me pointing out that you missed the point?

I don’t think anyone is a “fan” of abortion. I do think it’s a woman’s choice to make.

I just can't quite get my head around the fact that you're good with abortion but not good with death by car accident. It seems inconsistent to me.

Holy shit.
Because impregnating your underage daughter through rape is the same as a fucking cat accident.

There's no fucking way you practice law in any sort of competency.

Think about it. I'm sure it'll come to you eventually.
Why do you play these guessing games? Why won’t you just say what you believe?

Are you afraid?

Do you have anything to contribute to the discussion of 15-minute cities? What should we do to reduce how many kids are killed in traffic accidents in America?

I live in a small town that fits the 15 minute model.

We can literally walk to a modern hospital, several grocery stores, hardware stores, furniture stores, movie theater, players theaters, music venues, a pub, parks, art galleries, museums, mechanics, restaurants, grade schools both public and charter…

My four kids were able to walk, bike, or skateboard to school. We knew all of their friends and often had kids who lived in rural areas come to stay in town on some weekends while our kids could spend other weekends in the countryside. Only our youngest wanted to get his driver’s license before he turned eighteen.

We have a year round farmer’s market, several annual street fairs, a big community Fourth of July celebration. We’ve got a rails & trails program making bike use more practical for exercise and transportation.
👍

I know most of my neighbors, many of the local cops, several of the local politicians, most businesses are locally owned. If you want big box stores they’re in another town a half-hour drive away.

1. No one values anything that they haven't worked themselves to achieve. Being spoon fed basic information like the answers to the questions of "who is Brandon" and "why are abortions ok but car deaths of children bad?" should fall into that category. At least it would for most people. Unless you're one of those who enjoys hearing the choo-choo or airplane noises as an adult.

2. Afraid? Me? Whatever you want to believe sweety. Just remember, I'm not the one in this conversation who's never gone further than 15 minutes from home.

3. 15 minute cities are the brainchild of the brainless.

4. Abortion seems to be the Progressive way of eliminating childhood deaths in car crashes. No kids at all = no kids dying in car crashes. Then you realize these are the same people who thought up the idea of 15 minute cities and can't figure out who Brandon is...

So your 15 minutes is more like 30? Or more?

Walking your pace it would probably take longer, but no. I’m planning to take my truck in for service today. I’ll drop it off and walk home 1.5 miles - i could get a ride but why bother when I’ve got choices if I want to stop in somewhere for coffee or tea.

That's great.

Unless you're in a wheelchair or use other devices to assist your mobility or are elderly. Or did you forget about those members of your community in your narrow minded world without windows to reality?

You see, not everyone is a fuckwit like you. Some people have real life challenges with needs which aren't met in your fantasies because they're one of the "invisible people" you refuse to even acknowledge exist.

I believe this is true for you when you say this.

All of your comments and positions reflect this narrow viewpoint. It’s why you politics and opinions will never be embraced by any majority.
