So much snow the deer are looking for a warm place.

I've finally worked over most of my photos from Cascadia. I think I'll start at the northernmost region which is up around Prince William Sound Alaska. Then work down through Canada, etc.

The snow in Alaska is much dryer than in southern cascadia...but this is what is usually called hoarfrost up north...I think of this photo as three brave souls.

This area is around Portage Glacier, a thin bit of land separating Prince William Sound and Cook Inlet. Taken on a very sunny day so it is a little flat and simple.

One more for now. This is actually up in Cook Inlet, which is just on the edge of Cascadia and maybe just a bit NW of the boundary of Cascadia and the Alaska mainland. This is a sunset over Cook Inlet. Notice that the sun is striking the mountains on the left side...that is actually due south, but the days are short and the sun sets in the southwest in winter... not due west.

Thank you for all you do to make this thread possible :rose:

I wasn't planing on posting this one, but since you liked the "brave souls" I thought you might like this one. It gives a little closer look at the hoarfrost and the strength of the little life form that endures it.

Brutal and dark at times, life still endures
Knowing that soon light and spring will have their turn
And birds and flowers will rule again the days beneath the warming sun

This close up is stunning. I am so glad you shared it along with the writing.
I keep meaning to write more with the pics I post...But lately with the novella thread I find I just do not have enough time or creative brain space or maybe even enough words...lol

Yes, indeed... :rose:

And...Omg. you are so welcome. I am so grateful for everyone who visits this thread, who finds solace here, who posts here, who is appreciative. thank you....
