A Night Out (Closed)

"Since you are the cook I'll let you pick. Whatever you think is best is fine." She said "do you mind me asking questions? Or is it bothering you?"

"You can ask me anything, and so far I could never see you bothering me." David said flashing her a quick smile, before turning the steaks.

"Okay. So you never told me your favorite colors, food, music? What about your family? Are you an only child or do you have any brothers and sisters?" She asked. "Did you grow up here? Or move here for work?" She continued to rattle off question after question.

David sat down in the chair next to her, and said, "Well my favourite colour is blue, food my favourite is Italian, and music I like the 80's/90's. I am only child, I was raised in this house, and my parents left it to me before they passed." David said. "I have been working since I finished college, and climbed the ladder to get to where I am now."

"How many girls have you had sex with?" She asked as she continued with her questioning "have you ever been engaged before? Or did you ever want to propose?" She asked.

"Like I told you last night, I've had 3 girlfriends, and I've had sex with all of them. There have been others, but they had been, ummm shall we say professionals, but I have never cheated on my girlfriends, I have only resorted to that as a result of ummm desperation. And, not I have never proposed to any of them, or had the urge to propose to them." David said, before standing up and checking on the BBQ.

"You've had sex with prostitutes?" She asked shocked and a big disturbed "have you had sex with a lot of them?" Sarah sat there stunned, not really sure how to react.

"No not a lot. I did it once when I was college, and once when I drunk after celebrating my divorce. I know it's no excuse that I was drunk, but I guess I'm honest to a fault." David said bashfully.

"Divorce? I thought you hadn't ever been engaged?" She started going over their past conversations trying to make sense of it "how long were you married? What happened?" She asked not sure she wanted to know what had caused the split.

"I was never married. But the divorce I speak of is the separation of the prom king and queen." David said. "I was prom king, and the prom queen was my girlfriend at the time. So jokingly all our friends said we were the royal couple, and when we separated, it was jokingly referred to as a divorce." David said trying to explain the story.

"Well you probably should have explained that beforehand." She said feeling a bit relieved "so I guess I just have one more question for now..." She said taking a deep breath "would you leave me if I still wanted to wait to sleep together until marriage?" She asked.

"I'm sorry Sarah. I should have explained it beforehand." David said, as he pulled the steaks off the BBQ, "To answer your question, I guess I need to know if we are together before I can answer that, and would you wait till we were married to sleep together?"

"Well that's ideally what I would like to do but I need to know if there is a risk of you leaving before I can decide if I want to attempt a relationship or not." She said.

"I said last night that you deserve the best, and I meant it." David said choosing his words carefully, "If you wanted me to wait until we were married before we share a bed, or make love, then I would wait for you. I believe that you are like a very rare gem, and I have been blessed enough to find it, and now that I have found it I will do everything in my power to hang on to it."

David plated a steak on each plate, and said to Sarah, "You're dinner is ready."

"Thanks." She said "I'm sorry. I know I've been asking a lot of questions. I just want to get to know you better. I don't really know how to feel about all of this yet."

"It actually felt like a job interview," David said jokingly, "but I am wondering, from what you know of me so far, do I pass?"

"So far, so good." She said "there's still a few things I need to learn before I can make a decision...but it can wait for another time." She said "so why did you decide to make steak for dinner?"

"I'm happy to answer more questions if you'd like to ask them Sarah, as the saying goes 'There's no time like the present.' And I made steak, because I wanted to show you that even the simple things in life can be right in front of you and not realise how good they are until you take a bite." David said

"Well it's very good." She said "I'd really like to wait for more questions, I rather not spend the entire evening interrogating you. It would be nice to try to enjoy things."

"That's ok." David said as he ate his dinner. There was some small talk as they ate, David finished and waited for Sarah to finish then took the plates in to the kitchen, and returned with two bowls of ice cream, and a selection of toppings on a tray. "I wasn't sure what topping you'd like, so I bought them all out." David said, as he placed the tray on the table, and left with the rest of the condiments, placing them in the kitchen and returning for dessert.

"You really didn't have to go through all of that for me, but I appreciate the effort." She said picking some chocolate chips and caramel sauce. "So what did you want to do after dessert?" She asked.

"I'm not sure, I was leaving it open, to see what you felt like doing. We can go inside and watch a movie, listen to music, go for a drive, go for a walk, whatever you would like to do." David said.

"Let's just stay here. We could watch a movie since we didn't get to the theater last night." She said as she ate her ice cream "or would you prefer going out somewhere?"

"I'm happy to do either," David said as he put some chocolate topping on his ice cream. He continued, "if we stay and watch a movie, you can choose one. Or we can go out. I'm really not fussed hun." David corrected himself quickly "I mean Sarah. Sorry I was getting in front of myself."

"The movie sounds good. Let's just watch something simple. Nothing with a lot of action or a complex story line." She said "does that sound good to you?"
