A Pirates Life for Me. (IC)

IC: "Bunk room two locker Q 05" That was the last of the crew. I looked at the ships chart again, and then set it down. Between the officers present, the captain, and that One Eye fellow we have extra rooms for officers. That was unexpected. I walked over to docking bay door.

"Max was it?" I turned to the serpentine fellow. "I believe you need a room still. As an officer your allowed private quarters, so perhaps you should pick one. We have a room close to the brig, anther close to the bridge, and a couple of other options. Which would you like?"

Max turned his head slightly, when he heard his common tongue name, so that one eye was looking right at the woman.

"I believe you need a room still. As an officer your allowed private quarters, so perhaps you should pick one. We have a room close to the brig, anther close to the bridge, and a couple of other options. Which would you like?"

Max thought on this a little, but not too hard. "I ssshall pick one later, when we are about to lift off," he hissed. His tongue flicked out to taste the air, and he tasted that unfamiliar taste again, the one he had detected back at the ramp. Except this time, it was not diffused with the tastes of the crew, it was more...pure, for a lack of a better word. Max would think on this later, but for now, he would wait for the captain.

Moving into the shadows just inside the door, he effectively vanished from sight; the only evidence that he was there were his yellow eyes, but they were so consistent, that an onlooker would think that they belonged to some machine used by the docking bay, not to a giant snake. There, hidden in the shadows, he waited for the captain.

IC: "All right." I let Max slip from my sight to do what ever it was he does. I did note it didn't involve overseeing his men or checking his equipment. I wonder if he is incompetent too, or if I am the only one.

I walked back to my modest belongings and got on the ship heading to the room I desired. It wasn't large by any means, but for a room on a spaceship it was nice, and complete with its own restroom suprisingly. "Obviously this ship spoils its officers." My quarters were down the hall from the captains room and also the bridge.

I hung my two other outfits hopeing that soon I could afford more. I set down my dagger and rapier beside the bed but elected to hold onto my pistoles just in case. I placed my tool and makeup kits at the foot of the bed. "Well, to work I suppose

I then entered the bridge, my computer in hand. I looked about the stations. "Hmm, I suppose I should see if all is in order. But first." I pluged my computer into the ships, and transfered the room and locker listings to the ships log.

I then clicked on the com and set it for the cargobay. "Cargo, whats the status on loading our supplies?"
I walked over to the com system

"Well then, welcome to the crew Canderous, make your mark and have glass of whiskey, your my new Chief Engineer and my Gunnery Sergeant, welcome to the family." Ren said, pouring him whiskey. "I think we're set, follow me to my ship, Ogrdu's Vengeance" he said grabbing the bottle and handing Canderous the glass. "Glad to have ya aboard."

Canderous shot back the whiskey and smiled.

"That we are capin' let's be on da way" He shouldered his large duffel bag, filled mostly with the parts of his now destroyed GB-45 heavy repeater rifle and gestured toward the door "Shall we be going?"

"Shall we be going?"

One-Eye stood up and leaned heavily on his taigu. Ren looked at Canderous and adjusted his hat, making sure the feather was cocked properly. "Aye, we shall." he said his cape flaring as he turned toward the door.

After about ten minutes they arrived at the door to the docking bay. Ren opened it and was pleased to see the hurried to and fro of people readying a ship for launch. Port personnel were fueling the ship as well as loading supplies. Captain Ren's bright blue and clothing, as well as the green and white robes covering One-eyes ancient form made the two of them stand out incredibly amidst the dirty green jumpsuits worn by the port workers and the assorted clothing of his newly hired crew. They climbed the ramp of the sabre class starship and Ren breathed deeply. "Welcome to the Ogdru's Vengeance Canderous." The captain said holding his arms out wide. "Officers quarters are on deck 1 near the bridge, green light over the door will tell you if its been taken or not. Get settled in and report to the bridge in 20." Ren said as he turned away in the direction of the bridge.

Max watched as the captain and his friend One-Eye came in through the docking bay door, followed by a big teal skinned creature. Max feel into line behind the teal skinned creature, following at a short distance in silence.

Max followed the trio up into the ship, and preceded to follow the captain up to the bridge. Max made sure that his companions, 20 in all, moved out throughout the ship, and as they did, Max learned the layout of the ship. He also learned that the ventilation shafts where plenty big enough for him to moved through them.

IC: It would be some minutes before the ship was fully preped for take off. I wasn't sure what to do with the time remaining so I decided to commit a detailed memory of the bridges layout to memory incase I ever needed to design a ship or perhaps nevigate it with no light. Both were unlikely scenarios, but memorizing came easy for more people. Ocasionaly I wondered why but that question was no more important then asking the meaning of life.

"I wonder when the captain will be back?"

Ren strode onto the bridge with One-Eye right behind him. "How are things progressing Jenifer?" Ren asked as he took his seat at the captains chair. One-eye followed suit and sat at his left hand in the advisory seat. He nodded to Jarek, the Kylari helmsman, who was seated in the pilots chair. He looked back too Jenifer, "Everything in order?"

IC: "At the current rate all supplies will be loaded in three minutes. Otherwise the ship seems to be in perfect working order despite her age."

"She'll fly true," Ren said, patting the arm of the chair. He pulled the com link over to his mouth and spoke into it. "This is your captain speaking, I want to welcome you all to the Vengeance and ask that all crew prepare for launch. Get on it ya dog's! There's money and cargo out in the 'verse needs piratin'!" he said smiling as he switched off as he closed the link. "Have a seat number one. Prepare for launch." he said to Jenifer, closing his eyes in contentment. "You ready One-Eye?" he asked. "Sakiyan is with me young one, I am always prepared." One-Eye said, holding his taigu across his lap.

Max, on the bridge behind the captain, heard the orders, but how could a giant 13ft snake brace himself? The floors were too slick for him to immoblized himself on, so instead, he wrapped his tail around the base of a near by seat, which happened to be the communications station.

As Max lay there on the ground, with his tail wrapped around a seat, he waited for the all clear.

IC: "Aye captian." I sat in the chair he geastured to. I was glad to only have my guns on me, as sitting with swords was amoung the skills I hadn't quite figured out yet.

I was happy that things were going so smoothly so far. I half expected to fight out of the hangar like some sort of dramatic ploy in some sort of pirate story written by a bunch of novices on a porn site. How ever that wasn't the case to my relief.

"So captian may I ask what the current target is?"

"Well lass, we'll be setting course for PGC space to do a bit o' honest piratin'." he said. "We'll be heading toward Dantrey and thereabouts after the tritium ore haulers, low crew, high capacity, light weapons. They practically pirate themselves." he said "They'll have mercenary escorts of course, but nothing that can outgun the Vengeance. I'd wager that despite her age she could still trade shot's with patrol ships, gunships and light destroyers. They dont make 'em like they used to and thats the very truth." He said smiling at the girl. Just then, a green light flashed and a voice came over the com, the thickly accented, rough voice of a Dwarrow,
"Rurik he' cap'n. The lads are all done loadin' we can launch on yer mark."
"Thank you Mister Fireaxe." Ren said
"Aye cap'n." the dwarrow responded before switching off the link.
"Mr. Torval, transmit launching codes to port control if you please," he said to the human comm officer.
"Aye captain." the slender human said punching a series of numbers into his communcations console.
"Port control says we are go for launch, inner airlock doors opening."
"Mr. Jorla take us out." Ren barked to the Kylari helmsman
"As you command, Captain." the helsman responded in his slightly warbling voice. The pilot took them smoothly out of the main bay and into the secondary airlock. The doors closed behind them as the outer ones opened into the vacuum of space. In moments Ogdru's Vengeance and her crew were in the black, moving away from the Galtuga space station. "Mr. Jorla, set course for the Dantrey cluster." he said. Jorla wordlessly obeyed and programmed in the coordinates. A few minutes later, they were far enough to make the jump to warpspeed. "Captain, We are go for warpjump." Jorla said. Ren smiled happily to himself, "Make it so."

Max sat silently as the captain had the ship leave the docks and enter space. It's about time I left that bloody space station, thought Max. A space station is no place for a Basilisk, it there was no chance of me finding any on that pile of scrap metal. I don't even remember why I was there in the first place.

Max remained where he was, watching out the main viewports from under and behind the captain, as the ship slide out into space. He would remain in that position until he was sure that it was safe to move about.

Canderous found his cabin, it was bit cramped for one of his size, but much better than his last one. Tucking the pieces of his rifle under his bunk, and dropping his second bag of clothes on his bed, he headed out and up to the bridge.

The Rumbles of take off did little to deter him, he was a seasoned enough spacer to know that he could handle it. He came onto the bridge just as the captain gave the command to go to warp speed.

"Sergeant Canderous reportan' in sah!" ((OOC: Reportan' is not a spelling mistake)) he said taking his place at the weapons array control panel, reviewing the ships armanent with interest. He ignored the massive snake, and young woman piloting the ship, he had seen stranger, and instead focused on reviewing both weapons and engine schematics.

IC: 'Sergeant Canderous reportan' in sah!' Well that is a big guy. I don't think I am familar with his species, but judging from the station he went to he is the gunnery sergeant. So that is another officer. That brings us up to an even 50 crew members. I'll have to note this in the ships log when things are quiet.

"Captain, would you like to do a weapons test before we enter combat?" I looked to the captain. Our engines and navigation systems obviously would be tested simply threw use. However I hadn't taken the time to check security, weapons, sheilds, life support, or any other systems. Perhaps I should of inspected them while supplies were being loaded.

Ren heard Canderous report in. "Welcome to the Bridge Mr. Shante." he said without turning around as they plummeted through warpspace. He heard Jenifer's suggestion and nodded. "Excellent idea number one." he said "Mr. Jorla, bring us out of warp in sector 3." "As you wish Captain." Jorla said. Several minutes later they emerged back into real space. Ren pulled the com over to himself. "Attention all hands, this is your captain speaking, Battle Stations! Repeat, Battle Stations!" He shouted into the com. "With a will dogs! or I'll load you into the cannons!" He roared before closing the link. "Let's see what our boys can do." he said to the bridge officers, as he moved off to the gundecks.

IC: 'Excellent idea number one.' I let out a content smile, an emotional sign I had picked up some time ago. 'Mr. Jorla, bring us out of warp in sector 3.'

The pilot replied with 'As you wish Captain.'

Several minutes later we came into existence in sector 3. The Capitan pulled the com over to himself. 'Attention all hands, this is your captain speaking, Battle Stations! Repeat, Battle Stations! With a will dogs! or I'll load you into the cannons!' Perhaps I should work on threats and insults, they probably suite this new station. 'Let's see what our boys can do.' I nodded to the Capitan as he left.

"Where's he going?" I asked One Eye hoping he knew.

'Most likely the gun decks.'

"I see."

I turned back to the main view screen. This area was full of the debris numerous ships. Apparently the scene of a battle from some time in the distant past. I was some what surprised no one had come to salvage parts, but I suppose this sector is in wild space, and to remote to be much of a profit.

"Sensors, whats your name."

'Bo Ryn, sir... or Ms.'

"See if you can direct Mr. Jorla to a suitable target. The Capitan needs something for our rial guns."

Max silently got out of the captain's way as he left the bridge. Max was still eyeing the large bipedal creature that had walked onto the bridge. He would make a fine meal, Max's instincts told him, but he quickly shut them up. It was going to be a long and hard trip for Max, being surrounded by so many prey canidates.

Max rose up a few feet, not to his full height, so as to get a better look out the main viewports. There was a lot of debris out there, mostly from ships, he guessed. A lot of good meat wasted, his instincts whispered again. This time, he didn't try to shut them up, for it wasn't a problem (in Max's opinion) to think about eating members of other crews.

Max remained where he was, waiting for something to happen.

"Aye, Aye ma'am" Bo said, as he brought the sensors all the way up and swept for a good target. "Starboard at 2 o'clock." he said, detecting a large wreck and bringing it up on visual. "Closing in." Jorla said, bringing the wreck into decent range. "Captain we have a target, at 12 o'clock starboard." Jorla said into his own link.

Ren stood on the the gundeck, a comlink on his ear. "Roger, Starboard at noon." he said into the mic. "Come on ya dogs, main the starboard batteries! Mr. Stoneback, Mr. Gunn lance one if you please! Mr. Icecrown, Mr. Fenlock lance two! Mr. Brightblade and Mr. Ja'ar on torpedo one, Mr. Dervish and Mr. Do, torpedo two. Everyone else, pair up on the pulse cannons, Mr. MacNessa, join me on the Rail driver if you please!"

His men moved quickly to their posts and powered up the guns. The target had been marked on each guns HUD, along with a display of vital details such as range, ammunition/internal heat, and other such things. MacNessa quickly loaded one of the quite heavy, depleted quadranium rounds into the rail driver and closed the chamber "Clear, cap'n!" he said in his very thick eiriadan accent. Ren nodded, as he aimed the powerful rail driver at the target. "FIRE!" he roared.

The shots struck true, blasting the derelict ship from its positon and into another dead vessel. A cheer went up from the assembled gunners "Good shots lads! A finer gunnery crew I've never commanded." Ren said, amazed at the precision and speed with which they obeyed his orders. "Once again lads, i expect even faster this time!" he said, as they scrambled to obey "FIRE!!"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just outside of immediate sensor range, another ship dropped from warpspace, on a reconnaisance mission. The captain licked his reptilian chops as the raptor-class gunship skated just into sensor range.

Bo Ryn spun in his chair: "Contact! Bearing 028! Range 2000 meters!" he shouted.

Turning back to his sensors, he tried to id the ship. Once he did, he called out "Raptor-class gunship!" Turning to the highest rank on the bridge, he said "I don't if they've spotted us yet or not, nor who's driving it."

Max, hearing this info, beat the first mate to the comm, and relaid the info to the captain.

"Raptor-class?" Ren said into the com, and smiled broadly. "We got Kreeyar lads! Get the guns ready. Mr. MacNessa you have the rail driver, until Mr. Shante gets here." Ren said, as he rushed to the bridge, leaping into his chair and adjusting his hat upon his arrival. "Mr. Jorla, get us in range. Mr. Torval, open a hailing frequency." He commanded.
"Hail open."
"On screen." Ren said, as the visual link opened to the sneering face of a Kreeyar warrior. "Top o' the morning scaly, I'm here to discuss your surrender."

Ianthe should have gotten used to the reptiles that held her captive and while she knew what pissed them off she had no idea how to get out of this hell hole. They were smarter than they looked that was for damn sure. But really they took risks that they didn't really need to, hence why she was still alive.

She was a talented, young medic. And she was sure that a few of the Kreeyars had it out for her but she had no idea what was stopping them.

The young woman happened to be reporting to the Captain, something about one of his men's knees, an old war wound, acting up again. It was then that she saw the 'enemy'.

"Top o' the morning scaly, I'm here to discuss your surrender."

The kylari stared at the screen for a moment before backing away. She didn't need to do anything stupid. Silently, she prayed that this would be her way out.

"Sir, we're receiving a communication from an unknown ship," said the comm officer.

The captain turned is reptilian face towards the sensors station. "Why have I not been informed that there's another ship out there?"

"We don't have a ship on sensors yet, sir," replied Sensors. "All there is so far is a massive debris field. Working on tracing the signal now, sir."

"Good. Comm, put him through."

"Top o' the morning scaly, I'm here to discuss your surrender."

The captain's scales clicked at the insult made by the rather dog like creature that addressed him.

"And just who do you think you are to make such a demand, you furred brute?" said the captain in a calm voice.

Sensors still hadn't located the other ship yet. And the captain completely ignored the avain standing behind and to one side of him.
