A Pirates Life for Me. (IC)

Ren smiled at the Kreeyar's comment. "I am Captain Rengakus Sejisilic Navarone'naya'gall, of the Ogdru's Vengeance, welcome to wildspace. I currently have a mass reactive rail driver, two plasma lances, two heavy torpedo cannons and six heavy pulse cannons pointed at you, and a whole guncrew just itchin' for fireworks. You cant win Kreeyar. So I see you as having two options, You can surrender and be boarded, or I can blast your pretty little ship and board you anyway. Ball's in your court."

The captain bristled at the brazen words of the other captain. Pressing the mute button on his chair, which also paused transmission, he turned to sensors. "Got them yet?"

"Yes sir. Got a full sensor lock on them. Sabre-class destroyer off the port bow," sensors replied.

"Good, get with comm, and send all the data back to command that you can. Inform them we have a new pirate to watch out for," said the captain. "And make sure it's a secure line."

He pressed the mute button again and resumed the conversation. "I do believe, Captain, that you are a liar. You do not have what you claim to have, and you are a fool for attempting to stand against this ship. Why don't you bring that little tug boat that you captain out of the debris field that it so well fits in, and surrender?"

Ren smiled and hit his mute button. "Are they jammed Torval?" "Yes captain, they aren't talking to anyone but us." he said smiling. "Fantastic, Shields up if you please Mr. Torval." "Right away captain." Ren smiled and unmuted the link. "Very well, my dear little gecko. Ill move out of the debris." muting the link again "Mr. Jorla bring us up out of the debris and bring us parallel." he said and the avian obeyed. "Guncrew, fingers on the trigger if you please." he said into the comlink. He once again unmuted the link. "I'm coming after you Kreeyar." he said simply

Ianthe did not like how this was going. The other ship was her, seemingly, only means of escape and the Captain was going to shoot it to little bits. She didn't know a ton about ships but she knew that this ship that she was on was a good one. She was soon being pushed from the room and was led (forced) back to her medical bay. She remembered the last fight and so she began stuffing things that would break into her bag.

She was trying to tie some things back so that she wouldn't have too much to clean up later.

Ianthe worked quietly wondering when she would feel the attack of the other ship. When would the Kreeyar's finally fire. It was unnerving and yet, not hearing the guns firing meant that they hadn't killed the other ship as well.

But what if they had retreated?

"Sir," said the comm. "We're being jammed."

The captain cursed. Muting again, he said "Well, copy all the data to a probe and launch it during the fight. Make sure that it is sending on a pulse frequency and a secure, encrpyted channel, so that these pirate scum can't find nor jam it afterwards."

Opening a channel to the ship, he ordered battle stations.

"Sir, the enemy ship is moving out of the debris field. We have a visual," said sensors.

"Bring it up, and make sure everything is copied to that probe. I don't think we'll survive this fight," said the captain. "Chief of Security, start destroying everything that we don't want these scum getting a hold of, that includes important documents, equipment, and anything else you can think off. And take the good doctor down to the brig and lock her up. I don't want her getting in the way."

"Attention all hands, we fight to the death. There will be no surrender! All hail the Empire!"

He turned back to the conversation with the pirate, unmuting the transmission. "I look forward to seeing you're pathetic little tug boat become one with the debris field."

"A shame to die disappointed, kreeyar." he said, pulling the comlink to him, and smiling at the kreeyar. "Battle stations you dogs! Fire at will!" he yelled into the com. And then the guns roared.

Ianthe had finished putting the last of her things in her bag when two men showed up at her door. She knew immediately that something was going on. It was confirmed when she was forcibly led down to the brig. She had never fought back before but when one tried to take her bag she grunted tugging it roughly out of his hands. She soon found herself on her ass in the brig.

She stared at the two retreating men through the bars and wondered if they would leave the lights on.

Well... Wasn't that just fucking beautiful?

"Great Ianthe... You're going to die... on a piece of shit Kreeyar battleship... in their brig... in the fucking dark..."

The captain snarled as he muted the link between the pirate and himself. Then the guns on the other ship lit up.

"Shields at max! Brace for impact!" shouted the captain, as battle and collision alarms sounded throughout the ship.

The ship shuddered with the impact of all the guns, but the shields held.

"Guns! Return fire! Aim for the generator! Knock it out! Shields, how much more can our shields take?" asked the captain.

"Our shields can take two more barrages like that sir, but ours will fall long before theirs does," replied shield control.

"Is that probe ready yet?" asked the captain.

"Almost sir," replied the tech.

"Launch it when we start taking damage. It'll look like just another piece of us that got blown off. Also, set it so it activates in one hour's time."

Another barrage fired off. "Lance one focus on the engines, make sure they dont run on us." Ren called into the com. "Mr. Ryn, report on their shield if you please sir."
"Shield are low, one more good barrage should crack them captain."
"And ours?"
"Barely taxed, they have no chance."
"Good to hear. Mr. Stoneheart, ready the boarding barge." he called into the com.
"Aye cap'n."
"Mr. Airgetlamh, Mr. Stoneaxe, Mr. Rua, Mr. Teras, Blade, to the barge." he called into the raiders quarters.
"Mr. Du'um, Mr. Racham, Gulrashi join them also. Dr. Arkis, join them as a medic." he called into the com across the ship.
"Max, take your men to the barge as well. One-eye and myself will join you."
Another barrage fired into the hopelessly outmatched kreeyar ship. Ren smiled at One-eye "A small bit of vengeance comes to us." he said as he and One-eye left. "Number one, you have the bridge."

"Shields down!" called the tech.

"Damage report?" asked the captain.

"Minor structural damage sir, we can keep fighting," replied the tech.

"Weaponry, ready the solid matter torpedoes and fire when ready. Those things should bypass their shields with ease. And keep up the barrage from the main guns," said the captain.

"Sir, their reading a boarding party," called the sensors tech.

The captain was silent for a bit, then ordered that the self-destruct charges be readied. He would set and start the timer from his seat. He will be waiting.

--------------------------------

Max heard the captain's order and moved to the comm, ordering the security personal to the boarding shuttle. He himself went down there afterwards.

Ianthe hated the way the ship was getting hit so hard. Oh, she knew that this was going to be over soon. But would they find her? Did she want to be found? She was guessing that anything would be better than this. Her slender hand slipped into her bag and began fumbling around for a few minutes. Her fingers ran over quite a few things while she was searching for...

And there it was.

Initially such a thing was used to amputate quickly, it was sterile and sliced right through bone. She pulled the plasma cutter from her bag and began cutting through the door.

She didn't know why she made the hole so small but she eventually squeaked through. the Kylari held the plasma cutter before her for a moment before deciding that if she was going to die she would take some of these fuckers too. She knew a lot of the codes for the door and was surprised when it worked. But she wasn't nearly as surprised as when the opened door revealed one Kreeyar opening the door to 'check' on her.

Hm... maybe her codes didn't work.

"What the-" he started reaching for his weapon but she pushed the plasma cutter into his gut and took out a large chunk.

"Shit..." She gasped.

"Captain, rail driver has driven through their gundeck and knocked out their power generator, Life support wont last there more then an hour." Ren smiled at the thought of all the kreeyar gunners who were most likely being sucked into the void. "Excellent, keep it up lads, dont want them to be able to self destruct on us." he said "Mr. Stoneheart, take us just below the bridge, lets make this quick and clean." he said to the stout dwarrow engineer. "aye cap'n." he said "barge launchin'." The heavily armored and shielded barge blasted into the space, and in a matter of minutes, the mag-clamps attached to the hull. The Plasma saws cut deep into the hull and in minutes the doors flew open and automatic flash grenade launchers fired off to daze any inside. "Come on you dogs! you wanna live forever?" Ren roared, drawing his sabre and a pistol and charging into the kreeyar ship. The rest of the crewers right behind him.

"Sir! They've knocked out our power generator! We've lost life support!" called one of the techs.

"What?! How did they punch through so quickly?" asked the captain incredulously.

"Rail driver sir!"

"Weaponry, did those torpedoes launch?" asked the captain, as he watched barge launch from the other ship. He set the timer for two minutes. Enough time for them to get on board, but not enough to get off unscathed. It was a good thing that the self-destruct didn't need the generator to function, and once started, it couldn't be stopped.

"Aye sir! Their heading straight and true towards the pirate ship!"

"How about that probe?"

"Yes sir, launched as ordered."

"Prepare to repel boarders!" called the captain. Consoles started spark as the ship continued to take a pounding, and the guns fired off one more salvo before their reserve power failed. Four torpedoes were on their way towards the enemy ship, and if they worked as designed, the shields of the enemy ship would prove useless against them.

Meanwhile, the fighting just beyond the breach point was vicious, as the defenders put up a stiff fight against the raiders, holding them at bay.
--------------------------------

Max followed the captain out into the enemy ship, but didn't follow him any farther. He found an air duct that was just large enough for him, so he climbed up into it and proceeded to the bridge.

--------------------------------

"Sir! They've got a Basilisk with them!" called one of the techs.

"A what?" asked the captain, not believing his ears. How the hell had a pirate managed to get a giant snake to work for him?

"A Basilisk sir! Security reports that it's crawled up into the air ducts."

"Damn it! Arm yourselves! When and if that snake shows up, kill it!"

"Captain weve been hit, solid matter torpedoes!" Ren heard over the com as he ran a kreeyar through while blasting another. "Damage?" he called out "Heavy to the secondary cargo hold, Jorla swerved her enough." "Carry on." ren called into the com, as he took cover from pulse blaster fire. He fired back
"Cap'n, Dr. Arkis is hit!" Nuada called out.
"Get that bridge open!" ren swore loudly, killing kreeyar with every shot.
"Cap'n, he set a self destruct, two minutes!" Stoneheart called out.
"Can you override it?"
"Aye, cap'n. I have a viral program, i can confuzzle the computer good, Kreeyar computer security is shite." the dwarrow said plugging a datastick into the terminal.
"Throw a few more zeroes on that countdown if you please Mr. Stoneheart."
"Aye, aye, cap'n."
Most of the remaining kreeyar crewers were retreating to the escape pods just as Blade hacked into the door control. "Into the bridge lads! Take the captain alive if possible, Max might be hungry!"

Chaos broke out on the bridge as Max crashed through a grate in the air vent, falling right on to of two crew members, with all his weight. Needless to say, they were crushed. Blaster beams bounced off of his scales, and blades failed to do anything but anger him, as Max laid waste to the crew, biting a most, putting a fast acting neurotoxin into a few of them, the rest a strong knock out poison. Those with the knock out poison would live, but they would be out like a light.

In the meantime, the captain had rushed over to one of the still functioning control panels, and hit a button. He knew that the raiders would try to stop the self-destruct from one of the computers spread throughout the ship. The button he had hit was an emergency self-destruct of the entire computer system that had a two second delay and no possible way of overriding it. While this did disable the self-destruct of the entire ship, it effectively rendered the ship useless.

Next thing he knew, Max had wrapped his trail around him, pulling him away from the computer. He stared in horror as the snake glared at him, but Max didn't bite him, just held him tight.

Ren charged into the bridge to find Max amidst a pile of corpses, holding the captain. "Well, looks like all that hacking was unnecessary." He said looking at Blade, who merely smiled and wiped blood from his sword. "Hungry Max?"

IC: The battle was a confusing and shocking blur to me. I had been a mechanic last time, I dealt purely with with the aftermath. True I had done boarding from time to time but this was different and I did my best to take it in. The bridge was in my command for a long while before I figured out I could give commands, commands that could cost lives.

'Ma'am enemy Shields and power are down. Should we hold fire.'
'Ma'am the captain is on board.'
'Ma'am we have incoming ballistic weapons' Time seemed to freeze as suddenly my life was on the line.

Four of them, they seem to be aimed high. Probably at the bridge, if we dive will lose 26% of the gun deck. If we rise though we'll take more damage and 12% likely to lose our engines. But there are other moves turning stern would produce similar results to turning up, with only 10% chance of engine failure, but turning starboard would do the same with 13% chance, but that is unlikely so it might as well be 14%. But I can combine directions can't I? The vengeance is much wider then tall, that helps doesn't it. We have weapons too. Hmm thats the best coarse isn't it.

"Continuous burn on both plasma lances, AT MY MARK. Shift pitch 8 degrees, full throttle to our starboard engine." The vengeance began its movement, despite how quick the crews reaction was, the ships was still painfully slow. 3 seconds of fire from a lance that means, the engine should burn another second.

"Fire!" The lances let loose a beam destroying the top port torpedo. Probably due to the skill of our gunnery crew. The lower port and upper starboard torpedo's narrowly missed but the forth found its mark scraping a gash into the vengeances armor.

"Damage report!"

Max gave a snake like smile at the sight of the captain, while the other captain, still in his grasp, glared over at Captain Ren. Both Max and the man he held flinched as every console around them (and throughout the ship) sparked and then exploded, maiming anyone within two feet of them. The entire computer system had been destroyed.

"Already got a few picked out captain," hissed Max. "I know which ones they are. The rest are still alive, just unconscious. Oh, and here's their captain."

"Thank you Max, you can keep your snacks in the brig. You can have their valiant captain as well, much as id like to kill him myself." Ren said smiling at the helpless kreeyar. "Ive never been digested myself, but i imagine it cant be comfortable." He said. "Security team, get the wounded back to the Vengeance, and send the barge back over. Raider's, search the armory, cargo hold, infirmary, you all know the standard drill. One-eye and I will go to the brig and see if they have any worthy spacers to augment our merry crew." he said, sheathing his sword. He turned to the kreeyar captain. "I told you to surrender."

IC: 'A hole has been torn into one of our cargo holds.'

"Please tell me it wasn't full."

'Only partially, but will have to fix the breech to take on much loot.'

Yeah the captain leaves for what five minutes and I poke a hole in his ship. Well at least we'll get some good fresh salvage. Hell I might even add to my skeleton, after all this is a cause for celebration. My first space battle victory.

'Ma'am the enemy ship has begun to act erratically?'

I gazed onto the view screen and spotted what he meant. The steering thrusters were firing at random, the guns had stopped moving and the main engines seemed to be storing power.

"Keep a healthy distance between us helmsmen. I don't trust these lizards."

The Kreeyar captain spit into Captain Ren's face, but quickly winced as Max squeezed, producing several audible cracks, which meant that some ribs had been broken.

"Right captain," hissed Max. He moved over, still with the captain in his grip, and picked up the two men he had hit with the neurotoxin with his hands. "Alright, some of you, get the rest of these men to the brig. They may appear to be dead, but they're alive. Oh, and captain? Do we happen to have a place where I can place these two so as to keep them fresh until I'm ready to eat them? I ate before we left port, so it will be another week and a half before I need to eat again."

Ianthe had had her own troubles during the pirates' escapade. While she had successfully killed one of the guards she had no idea where the other had gone to. She could hear the fighting not too far away... How was she supposed to be 'rescued' if they thought her the enemy as well? The Kylari ruled out running out into the skirmish, she was likely to be attacked by both sides.

The young medic decided that she would sneak back to the office which was practically a prison and would try to gather a few more things, maybe she could find another weapon or some money to barter with these pirates if they weren't going to let her onboard.

It was on her way to that room that she noticed the ship acting odd.

"Hey!" And there was that Kreeyar.

Ianthe ran straight, blindly even, through the hall of dead bodies, not daring to stop as she heard the heavy footfalls of the beast-lizard-man behind her. She felt the sharp pain associated with her hair beind pulled, and was forced to stop. "Let go!" She screamed, "Help! Please Hel--p!" The cold scaly hand wrapped arond her neck, interrupting her scream as she was held high off of the ground, and as he tightened his grip she was sure that this was the end.

IC: 'The barge has dislocated from the enemy ship.'

"Place our remaining security men at the airlock. Pull off a few gunners and have them standing by aswell. I don't want any nasty suprises." Oh what would I give for a full crew. Well we are at 50% capacity assuming no one dies. Hopefully we'll get some more crew next we hit port.

Ren smiled devilishly as the captain spit at him. "Theres a stasis cell in the brig, but its only big enough for one, your gonna have to chain the others up in the brig and let them wait. Give you some time to fatten 'em up." he said chuckling. "Number one, the barge is on its way back with cargo, small arms medical supplies and such. We have plenty wounded, but only Dr. Arkis is dead. I will be going to the brig and see if there any more crewers for us. We're going to mop up here and be back in about an hour." he said into the com. "Come One-eye, we go to the brig." he said spinning around, his cape flowing behind him. "I love the smell of dead kreeyar in the morning."

Genifur

IC: "What do you mean the doctor has been shot!" I was tempted to lend my small medical expertease to the nurse but I hoped she could handle it.

I spoke into the com. "Nurse prepare for incoming injured." I spoke calmly not to alarm the crew. "Prepare and luanch the barge to retrieve the captian."

I shut off the calm and spoke to the bride. "Keep the news of the good Doctor quiet as long as possible." We need a larger crew plain and simple.
