A Pirates Life for Me. (IC)

"We need to have fun once in a while do we not?"

The Kylari smiled broadly at him, she seemed, at least for once since she had met him, completely at ease. That in itself seemed to be quite the feat. She always was ready for anything but now she was just happy dancing with Cale. It was sweet how close he pulled her and in a way she knew now that this was not something that was going to be just a friendship. There was more to this.

"Tis true," she agreed happily as she let him lead her around the dancefloor. "Quite smooth on your feet Sarconian... Where did you learn to dance like this?" She was curious, she knew that there were fighters, warriors was the best word for them, but dancers never struck her.

"Oh, almost all Sarconians are dancers in their own right as it helps us to be better warriors. I know that that sounds strange but it gives all of us a grace that is hard to get any other way."

With that he let out a laugh as he remembered what it had been like to dance for the first time. It was then that he looked down into Ianthe's eyes.

As he looked down into Ianthe's eyes he knew that there was something else to what they were going through. He knew that there was some feeling there between the two of them, something that could nothing more than grow. He pulled her closer to him and without a second thought leaned down to kiss her deeply. As he did he did not care about anyone else in the large room; all he cared about was the Kylari in his arms.

IC: I turned to ling against the wall and spotted some playful rough housing. "Nothing eh, well I can keep that up. I am Soult you see, and as such I am immortal. Or so is my gene code any how. We don't need to have sex to reproduce, in fact my guess is we picked sexual reproduction up from your kind maybe a few hundred years ago. But my point is we can reproduce Asexually. I split into myself and my brother some time ago. That caused memory loss for myself and my brother but genetically we are the same, and this has gone on for countless generations. I can't recall being born but I can recall giving birth. Although I don't recall mating. The past is such a messy affair."

"So tell me about those markings on your scales. I must say I am curious."

Not much of what the woman said made much sense to Max, but then again, he didn't really care. He simply continued to watch the shoving match where a punch had yet to be thrown, thankfully. Max was considering whether or not he would intervene if it did become a fight. He kinda knew that drunken pirates liked to fight, so he was leaning more towards letting the fight play out if it ever occurred.

Then the woman asked about his markings. That warranted his full attention. His head snapped around to stare at the woman with both eyes. No one had ever asked about his markings. No one. This was a curious situation for him. He had a history that was writing in his markings; hell, he even had a title. But only Basilisks could interpret the markings by sight.

"To which markings are you referring?" asked Max.

IC: "I suppose I should be more specific. But thats the trouble with the unknown, you never know where to begin. I imagine we can start at your top and work down?"

The party kept swinging, and Ren smiled as he watched Cale and Ianthe dance. Next time he would bring his own fiodul and play something jahad. One-eye could join on his barza flute. One-eye had taught him that music and combat have much in common, they are both fluent representations of the harmony and rhythm, music represents life, and combat, death. The tune switched to a swift, merry tune, and One-eye looked at Ren, and Ren merely smiled, One Eye returned the smile and drew his Kaolun, placing his taigu and dakata on the chair, leaving only his ksya, which no Jahad ever takes off. He readied himself and leapt over to Ren.
"Buer na go ta maith dan kaolun!"
" Kar na to ga naith gan barsuum!" Ren responded drawing his sabre and taking off his large coat and other weapons. The riada band quickened their pace, " Fa TU!!" Ren and One-eye said together. and then they leapt at each other. Launching a flurry of kicks and strikes, twirling their swords and fighting in great circluar strokes. They moved so fast, yet not a strike landed foul and not a bone was broken nor a hair cut on either of them. They're movements seemed to somehow perfectly fit the music, despite its foreign nature. Ren and One-eye, their warriors dreadlocks flying in the air, danced the Jahad War Dance, each flipping over strikes and delivering them as they spun and ever movement utterly perfect.

"Oh, almost all Sarconians are dancers in their own right as it helps us to be better warriors. I know that that sounds strange but it gives all of us a grace that is hard to get any other way."

That made a lot of sense. Back at home she could remember many of the religious ceremonies and some of them looked liked a strange mixture of fighting and dancing combined into one beautiful movement. She ould remember wanting to do that when she was a child.

It didn't seem like there was much needed to be said. "Well... You are an excellent dancer Cale." It was then that she was suddenly pulled closer and found her mouth pressed against his.

And she didn't hesitate to kiss him back. Her wings, instinctively, puffed up and surrounded them. When they broke apart she smiled at him. "I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking about it..." She giggled.

IC: I watched the captain and one eye fight amoungst each other. I was the distracted by a fluff of feathers on the dance floor. "A lot seems to be happening."

Cale smiled as he felt Ianthe's wings surround them which effectively cut them off the rest of the group.

As soon as they broke apart he looked at her, "I am just glad that I was able to kiss you. I wasn't sure if you felt the same way for me. I am truly glad that you feel the same way Ianthe."

It was then that he slowly turned to look at the dance between the captain and the one called One-Eye. He knew that it looked as though they were fighting but he had seen the Jahad War Dance more than once to know what was happening between the two of them.

He turned back to look at Ianthe, "I hope that I do not sound too forward with this but do you wish to stay here or join me somewhere a little more secluded?"

"I am just glad that I was able to kiss you. I wasn't sure if you felt the same way for me. I am truly glad that you feel the same way Ianthe."

Ianthe just smiled and then noticed the Captain and the old man... fighting... or dancing... well, something like that anyway. She knew that they weren't really fighting anyway and had to admit that it was very interesting to watch such a thing. But... truthfully she was much more interested in what was taking place between the two of them.

"I hope that I do not sound too forward with this but do you wish to stay here or join me somewhere a little more secluded?"

Like she really had to think about it. "I... Well... I'd rather be with you somewhere not nearly as crowded," she agreed finding that it was nice to be so close. "Do... Well, where were you thinking? Like a walk maybe?" She asked to the much taller man.

"A walk would be nice. It would let us get some fresh air, allow us to explore parts of the ship and we could be alone, at least for a while."

He took Ianthe's hand in his, looked at the captain and the older man dancing around for a moment longer before he looked down at Ianthe with a smile still on his face.

"I know that I would not want to do anything else right now but spend more time with you alone. Do you wish to leave now or should we wait a little longer?"

As he looked at her he knew all he wanted to do was take her in his arms again and kiss her bu he didn't want to do it here as it was in front of everyone. He didn't want to hide what was happening between them with the rest of the crew but he didn't want to share it either; he wanted to have something that he could share with one person at the moment.

The war dance was a special dance, it required complete trust in your partner, flawless balance and grace, and the ability to communicate at a level above mere words. The song built to its climax and then stopped, ending with One-eye upside down balanced on one hand, with his other parrying Rens attempted sweep. Cheers and applause rose from the crowd, and Ren and One-eye bowed deeply. Ren called for more ale, and One-eye excused himself.
"I am old, and it is far past my bedtime." he said to all who asked.

He gathered his weapons and walked alone to his quarters. He punched in his code, and entered as the door slid open, as counselor he left his door unlocked until he went to sleep. He hung his kaolun and dakata on his wall, and stripped to his loin wrap. He spent a moment infront of the mirror, looking at the countless scars on his body, remembering ancient combats. Tell the young one the truth, let him know who you are. Ease his suffering. his heart said
and tell him the truth of his family? Great dishonour it would bring his mind countered. the truth would destroy him!
he is young yet. The principles of the young are not the same as they once were, no doubt he wouldnt care. "Silence!" One-eye commanded himself. He rubbed his eyes, and took a draught of yagra from the bottle on his table. I must meditate he thought to himself. He went around his room, lighting various censers, and braziers. He gathered his weapons and placed them in their prescribed places on the mat as he brewed a pot of tea.
The tea finished brewing, and he poured a cup for himself, and a cup for those gone ahead. He sat on the mat, crossing his legs and facing the focus of the room. For right in front of One-eye was a massive golden statue. Sakiyan, Lord of Blades. He wore blessed armor, and carried a different blade in all six arms. In one, he carried a broadbladed spear, in the others he carried a kaolun, a dakata, a battleaxe, a ksya, and in his highest right hand he carried the Tonbogiri, his mighty longsword, raised in triumph. One-eye focused on the statue, and then closed his eyes, stretching out his mind and consciousness, lifting his weapons through his thoughts, focusing on the perfection of the blades, as they circled him. There sat Rengakus Sakiyasilic Baradone'naya'gall, deep in in his meditation.

Max continued to eye the woman, drawing part of his attention away to watch the captain and his old companion spar. He also noticed that the shoving match in the far corner had stopped. The participants were watching the captain.

"Well, in general, my markings identify who and what I am," replied Max. "Only Basilisks can interpret the markings correctly by sight. I'm sure that there are some people out there who have tried to learn what the various markings on our kind mean, but they will never be successful. No Basilisk would dare give a correct interpretation of their markings to potential prey."

Max was speaking the truth. It would be a law among Basilisk, if they had laws, but it is more of a custom. No Basilisk would dare give potential prey a correct interpretation of their markings.

"I know that I would not want to do anything else right now but spend more time with you alone. Do you wish to leave now or should we wait a little longer?"

It didn't take long for her to make up her mind.

"Let's go..." She said as she held his hand, leading him away and out into the hall, the ship was a rather large thing and wandering about it finding out every room would prove to be interesting.

Off she pulled him to find out all about the ship. Until she came to a section where they could see the stars and space that surrounded them. Ianthe was stunned at it's beauty for a moment.

"What happens when he land on this planet? Are you staying here? Or leaving?" She asked.

IC: "I suppose the logic is undenyable. I don't want to share my weaknesses either, although it apears neither of us drinks. Besides I have a few secrets ontop of that, and I can't imagine there is some one on the crew who doesn't" I smiled.

"Treat you to a glass of water?"

"Treat you to a glass of water?"

Max was a taken aback a little. He would have to get used to having a rather social life. As Max had mentioned earlier, Basilisks were not naturally social creatures, preferring to keep to themselves.

"Yes," replied Max. "A glass of water would be nice right about now."

IC: "Alright I will be right back." I moved off to the bar, the tendder was busy handing out various toxins, holugentics, and alchols that the various species of the crew have grown to love. I smiled. "Two glasses of water... Actully a normal glass for me, Max is quite large so do you have any thing in a gallon size?"

'Aye, the jug it came in.'

"Oh well a tall glass for me, and one of those for the head of security." I then returned with the drink shortly there after.

Max nodded as the woman walked off towards the bar. He scanned the galley again, and yet again, his gaze was held by the shoving match in the far corner, which had started up again in earnest after the captain had finished his dance. It now had the distinct makings of a bar fight.

Then the woman returned with the drinks, and offered Max a gallon sized jug. Max shoot her the snake equilvalent of a "You've got to be kidding" look, as a pair of arms seemed to materialize out of the sides of his raised body to take the offered jug.

He looked at it curiously, both contemplating how he was going to drink it out of the small hole (normally, he would just have opened his mouth and poured down his throat, but this would take forever to drain that way) and also making note that it was still sealed, which meant it hadn't been tampered with since it had been bottled. But that still didn't mean it was safe.

He followed Ianthe out of the galley and as soon as he did he was surprised by the difference in the sound difference from inside the galley to out in this hallway. In there everything was a chaos of sounds and out in this hallway was totally the opposite. The only sound that could be heard in the hallway apart from Ianthe's and his own breathing was the constant humming of the ships engines.

He looked down at her only to see her start to move away from her which caused him to move quickly so that he could catch up to her. They began to wander slowly through the ship and Cale was amazed by the size of it. It was true that he had not been on many ships during his years of life but this one did surprise him.

He wanted nothing more than to continue to walk around and explore every part of it but it was then that he noticed that Ianthe had stopped. He walked to stand beside her and took a deep breath when he saw the stars that were surrounding them. As he looked at them he wondered how many planets were out there; how many he would probably end up exploring before his life would end.

"What happens when he land on this planet? Are you staying here? Or leaving?"

Cale looked down at her in astonishment, his eyes going wide.

"I have not thought about that until right now but...." he took another deep breath, "I know that I will be staying with this ship. I am as much a part of this crew as the captain or anyone else now so when this ship leaves the planet I know I will be on it."

"I have not thought about that until right now but.... I know that I will be staying with this ship. I am as much a part of this crew as the captain or anyone else now so when this ship leaves the planet I know I will be on it."

Ianthe nodded to herself as she seemed to fall into her own deep thoughts on the subject. She should leave... it was the smart thing to do. They were pirates, they were going to get into trouble, it was not a question of 'if' it was a question of 'when' and she wasn't sure if it was smart to be getting so mixed up in it but then there was something aside from her brain arguing very loudly.

"Well... guess I'll have to get used to this place... I can't leave you here all by yourself, you'll get hurt or be taken captive and then who's going to rescue you?" She asked with a smirk .

Yes, he was part of the reason she was staying, a rather large part in fact... but the other was she wanted to see what king of trouble pirates could cause.

IC: I smiled at max for quite some time before I realized why he wasn't drinking. "Oh sorry, would you like me to open that for you. Here hold it still" I reached behind myself and pulled out my phase dagger. "This will be fast but hold it level." As soon as it was level I sliced effortlessly threw the top making him a large mug.

"So Cheers, or would you prefer another toast?"

Cale let a smile come to her face.

"I guess that I have to tell you the truth. The main reason I want to stay is because you will be here. I do not think, no I know that I do not want to be anywhere you aren't. I know that it is strange given the situation that we are in but I do not want to be anywhere without you. And besides, who is going to patch me up when I get into the type of trouble I know Captain Ren is going to put us into."

He could not help but laugh at that. He knew that he was speaking the truth though. Now that he was part of a pirate crew he would be hunted down in any civillized part of this galaxy. He knew that Captain Ren would have a price on his head by now but there was something else to being a part of this crew. Ever since he had left home there was one thing he had been missing, one thing that he had always wanted. As soon as he had come onboard this ship he knew that he had found it, he had found a family of sorts.

He then turned to look back at the stars, the smile still on his face.

She listened and watched him and loved that smile on his face, seemingly without a care in hte world. She took a few steps closer to him, moving his arm so she should rest against him, he was warm and was just nice to stand there with. She could feel herself wanting to rest now.

Not really sleep, but just lounging around sounded like much more fun at the moment.

"Do you want to go to bed?" She asked. "I mean rest... cuddle?" She offered blushing slightly and trying not to laugh stupidly. "I mean... I want to..." She explained taking his hand in hers.

Cale looked down at her as she rested against him and knew that there was nowhere else that he would rather be. He put his hands on the railing and looked out of the window at the space in front of him. He knew that he had always wanted to come out here, always wanted to have a life amongst the stars and now that he was out here there was something stronger that was pulling at him.

"I would love to go to bed and rest. I cannot think of anything that I would rather do right now."

He followed her away from the window, taking one last look at the stars with a loud sigh.

The young medic did not have much left in this world anymore. She was pretty much just a bum at this point, seemingly hitching a ride with some pirates, as wonderfully nice as they were. The young woman kicked off her shoes and crawled back onto the bed, sighing as they comfy mattress welcomed her. Her eyes fell shut and for a moment she seiously thought about going to sleep but she knew, as the bed shifted a little, that there were other things she wanted to do.

Ianthe opened her eyes and looked at Cale. she smiled and motioned for him to come closer, she wanted to kiss him again, to have his warm strong body protecting hers. Yes, he was wonderful.

Very slowly she moved to meet him, and caught him in a kiss. She held close to him and chuckled. "I'm delicate... but not weak..." She teased.
