A Pirates Life for Me. (IC)

Every one on the bridge was chuckling at the scene in the infirmary which Mr. Torval had put on the main viewscreen from the comm station, even One-eye chuckled softly to himself. "Open the two way link Mr. Torval." Ren said laughing gleefully. "Aye aye sir," torval said laughing harder then Ren.

"Well, Well, Well, an enchanted moment." Ren said into the com laughing, the sound of everyone elses laughter in the background.

Cale let a momentary flash of anger and pain flow through him but then he let it pass by and looked at the medic.

"There is no need to be sorry Ianthe. I can understand the reaction of shock from what our illustrious first mate just said but please do not let it happen again. I can only handle so much pain before it gets too much."

He knew that his first reaction was to laugh at what he just said but given the situation they were now in Cale thought that it was not the best of times to do so. He instead just sat there and let the pain subside in his arm as he contemplated what Gennifur had just said.

It was then that he slowly turned to look at her, "We are not married. It is just that she has saved my life far too many times and I owe her that. She is welcome to stay in here or in the medics quarters if that is what she desires. I can say that my offer still stands though if she wishes that."

Cale then looked over at the comm station and started laughing. It was something that he could not stop from happening. He turned back to look at the Ianthe, "I was not laughing at you, just at the situation that we seemed to have found ourselves in."

"Oh... Of course," she said blushing intensely as she set back to work trying to think how anyone could have gotten the idea that they were married. She wasn't even wearing a ring. Of course she was realized that the the Kreeyars would have taken the ring that does not exist when she was taken aboard their ship.

Suddenly she wanted to go find the ring she never had.

Of course she was distracted from the real cause of this thought.

"We are not married. It is just that she has saved my life far too many times and I owe her that. She is welcome to stay in here or in the medics quarters if that is what she desires. I can say that my offer still stands though if she wishes that."

"I would like to keep a closer eye on you... Your wounds of course!" She said quickly realizing how the other statement could have sounded. And then she was suddenly aware of laughter.

"Well, Well, Well, an enchanted moment."

She looked at the comm link to see the Captain... and everyone else on the ship behind him. And then Cale was laughing.

"I was not laughing at you, just at the situation that we seemed to have found ourselves in."

What followed next was a short string of Kylari curses that summed up to...

"Fuck fuckity fuck fuck fuck..."

And was promptly followed by...

"Oh great Hagryphus please give me strength..." She calmed herself and looked back to everyone. She seemed a little more confident now that she had the great god behind her, even if it was only in her mind.

"Yes I will share a room with you..." She said not caring that everyone in the ship was watching. "And-" she suddenly looked at the comm. "Is there are reason for all of this?" She asked, she sounded mildly annoyed.

Ren and the bridge crew roared with laughter. "Lassie, we are currently plummeting through warpspace, its damn boring out there, but ye two seem to be makin' the most of it." He said laughing. "Be gentle with her boyo, Kylari bones are hollow, but Sarconian muscle is not. By the by, since we're still about a days flight out of WS9, your captain shall be hosting a rowdy out in the galley, to celebrate our victory. It starts in roughly 10 minutes, but you two.." he said laughing harder at the mere thought. "You two take yer time. Bridge out." He said, guffaws echoing, filling the bridge. "Come One-eye, there is a large spot o' grog with me name on it." Ren said, leaving the bridge.

Cale's head turned quickly to look at Ianthe when he heard the curses that came out of her mouth as he knew exactly what she had said and was a little taken aback by it. He knew that he shouldn't be, given the places he had been and the women that he had been around but when Ianthe had said them it was with as much venom as any sailor he had been around. He wanted to bow to her and tell her that she had a great knowledge of the language but she was apologizing before he could say a thing.

She then told him that she was going to share his room with her and he tried to stop the smile from appearing on his face but failed miserably and let out a silent curse when he did. He turned quickly back to the comms to try and hide the smile that was on his face but he knew in doing so he was letting the rest of the crew that was on he bridge see it.

He quickly tried to hide it as he looked the captain in the eyes, "I will concur with Ianthe here. Is there any need for us to be shown on the comm screen like this?"

It was then that he heard what the captain had to say and knew that Ianthe would have something to say as soon as they were in their room.

He turned back to Gennifur, "Is there any way that we can be shown to our room now?"

IC: I looked around confused as the delicate social situations moved about me. The captain started talking about sex, and the two were getting mad. I became so confused trying to take it all in that I didn't move until Cale turned to me and asked about the room.

"Oh yeah." I retreated to the halls which were camera free so at most they could ease drop. The rooms had cameras and coms but limited to emergency use. "Will you be wanting a second bed moved in?"

I didn't wait for an answer. "I don't get it. Sorry I am poor with social situations. Why did the injection happen, why did the captains comments happen. Why did you, Ianthe swear so much. Cale if you smiled when she said yes why weren't you more firm with your desires to share a room. I just don't get it."

"Oh yeah. Will you be wanting a second bed moved in?"

Well wasn't that sure to be awkward. "At the moment... a second bed can wait..." She said softly once they were in the hall. She sighed. Ianthe was haing quite the time here now.

It wasn't like she was planning on doing anything with him... It was just that in case it didn't pan out there would be no need to move the second bed out...

Ianthe's face went blank with all of the questions.

"I swore... because it was embarassing to have the captain and everyone witness the awkwardness of the situation between you, Cale, and myself..." She tried to explain. "And the antibiotics are so he doesn't get an infection..." Ianthe added as an afterthought.

"The Captain thinks he's funny... that's why he commented..." she explained more firmly.

IC: "I don't see it as akward. But I seem to be the only confused person so I guess I am just out of it."

Changing the subject. "No second bed seems simple enough. So how'd the captain pick you two up?"

"I don't see it as akward. But I seem to be the only confused person so I guess I am just out of it."

Hmmm... Well, that did seem to be the case, the other just didn't get it it seemed. Well, that was fine too considering that Ianthe wasn't in the mood for more teasing at the moment.

"No second bed seems simple enough. So how'd the captain pick you two up?"

"I was a prisoner on the Kreeyar ship... I was forced to be their medic as they didn't seem to have another. And that's when you guys came to save me... A good period of time into my capture..." she said dryly.

"No matter... what's done is done..."

IC: I wonder whats worse, being born into captivity or tasteing freedom before captivity. Well we both are on the same size I suppose sense I have a few memories from my mother before she was captured. "Well it possibly could of been worse then being a prisoner. Tell me did they mark either of you?"

"I do not think that the second bed will fit into my room but I do not know what size room I have. Hopefully it will be big enough for the two of us, not that I would mind any other way."

I knew what I had said would be classed as being a little rude and that was the last thing that I wanted it to sound like but before I could say anything more Gennifur had changed the subject to that of how we had come on board the ship. As soon as she did I had a feeling of still being stuck in that dark cell and not knowing what hour of the day it was. I felt like pounding against the imaginery walls of my cell. I knew that I was breathing heavily and turned to look at Gennifur.

"I am sorry if I sound rude but is it possible that we can get to our room as soon as we can. I do not feel well at all and would like to lay down for a bit. I will be at the galley later on though, be assured of that."

"I do not think that the second bed will fit into my room but I do not know what size room I have. Hopefully it will be big enough for the two of us, not that I would mind any other way."

That caused her to blink, somewhat dumbly, as she tried to grasp exactly what that meant, and when it did strike her she was forced to laugh and tried to cover it up with a cough. Well, it was funny to her. The Gods only knew why.

The girl was speaking again and Ianthe listened but noted how Cale seemed to be so quiet. She chanced a glance and could see he was not doing so well at all. He was breathing a little eratically but he seemed to get back into control.

"I am sorry if I sound rude but is it possible that we can get to our room as soon as we can. I do not feel well at all and would like to lay down for a bit. I will be at the galley later on though, be assured of that."

"I think that that would be for the best..." Ianthe said as she looked to the other woman. "Not to be rude..." She emphasized.

The party was well underway. the best food on board had been put out in large quantities and liquor flowed freely. two of the riada had engaged in an impromptu friendly boxing match and bets were being placed Ren sat in the captains chair atop the dais at the end of the galley, a large tankard of strong ale in his hand, One-eye had taken a place inside the squared off boxing area to act as a referee. Bar'yek Du'um sulked in a corner, refusing to join the festivities, dark thoughts clearly playing through his head.

Perhaps not everyone was as pleased at their conquest as Ren was.

IC: "Aye, that may be for the best. It is a good thing we are here then." I pointed up to the green light above the door. "When you two go inside set a new security code for the door. That will change it to red, then only you and people with comand overide can get in."

"I'll be off to the Galley now."

I watched the first officer as she walked down the corridor then walked gingerly into my new room. I never expected to have a room when I had been pulled out of that cell but as I stood there looking at it I wondered what to do next. It was then that the words of the first officer came back to me and I walked to the panel near the door.

I stood there for a few seconds as I looked at the panel, trying to think of anything that could be used as a code but then the perfect number came to my head and I pushed 5598 into the keypad, smiling when I saw the light over the door go a deep red and heard the click of the door locking.

I then turned back to Ianthe, "I am sorry that I put the number into the keypad but I wanted as much privacy as I could with you. Not for the reason that you think but because you and I have a bound that nobody else on this ship has. We are the only ones that came off that ship alive or in any fit state to fight the Kreeyar. I know that I am bringing up painful memories for the both of us but I hope that we can both help each other through them. These people risked their lives to help us but they do not know what we have been through on that ship. I do not think they can ever have as strong a bond with either of us as we can."

He then took Ianthe's hand and hoped that he would follow her to the bed but stood there and looked down into her eyes.

Cale certainly was thinking long and hard on all of this now wasn't he?

Ianthe nodded in agreement at his statement. "How... How long have you been thinking about this? I mean about a bound between us?" She asked as he held her hand. She gave his a gentle squeeze to try and show him that she was not afraid or nervous.

Curious mostly.

"Um... Why don't I get a better look at your wounds?" She offered leading him to the bed. It was childish, playing doctor, but it was easier for her this way it seemed.

As Cale walked with Ianthe to the the bed his mind was going over the words both of them had used. It was true that he felt a bond with her but it was because she had been in the same state as he was only a few hours ago with no hope for escape. As he sat down on the bed next to her he knew that he owed his life to her, that much was the truth.

He suddenly go his feet and looked down at her though, "I think it might be easier if I took these off so that you can look a little better."

He took off his weapons to place them on the small table near one side of the bed but as he reached the bottom of the vest to pull it up and off he stopped and turned to look at Ianthe. He did not want to show her what the Kreeyar had done to him, the small scars that criss crossed his back. He knew that it he did trust her but he did not want her to feel sympathy for him. It was then that he laughed, she was the medic on this ship and she wouldn't be able to feel anything but sympathy for any of the wounded here.

Very slowly he pulled off the vest, wincing as he imagined the wind blowing over still fresh wounds then turned and sat back down on the bed next to her.

"Thank you for saying that you would share this room with me, I would not want to share this room with anyone else and know that I do not want to be alone."

Ianthe watched as he removed his weapons, silently she was amazed at how strong he was to even be able to carry some of the heavier things. She was such a lightweight when it came to such things, she often felt very weak. Not that she was exactly weak but she never felt like a terribly strong person.

It was obvious for a moment that he was in pain and she almost jumped up to help but remembered that he was a man and men needed to do such things on their own. To be strong as it were.

She did feel bad for the things that the Kreeyars had done to him but she wasn't going to make him feel pitied.

"Thank you for saying that you would share this room with me, I would not want to share this room with anyone else and know that I do not want to be alone."

"I'm more than happy to help..." Ianthe reassured with a smile. "Now... lemme see those wounds so I can help..." She said as she got up to look at his back.

As Cale sat down he felt Ianthe move around the bed behind him so that she could look at the wounds that were on his back. He sat there and closed his eyes as he let her look at his back and let his mind drift. It drifted back to the first time that he had seen her, how she had brought him some fresh sponges to wipe the blood away from the fresh wounds on his back and to give him something to eat. As he hung there by the chains she had fed him the disgusting slimy thing that the Kreeyar had called food but to him it was the most perfect thing he had ever tasted.

He knew that he had never thanked her that day because it had been that day that had saved him. Cale knew that without that day that he would have died in the darkness of that cell, that he owed his life to her. He had told himself that if he ever escaped that he would get her off the ship anyway that he could but again she had saved him by bringing the pirates to him.

He slowly opened his eyes to look at the weapons that sat on the table.
"Thank you Ianthe. You do not know what you mean to me, you do not know what I owe you."

He closed his eyes again and let her look at the numerous wounds that he had.

Max finished looking through the files in the computer, having learned all he needed about the security of this ship. He had also added his own security code that would allow him into restricted security areas. He had also learned about the statsis cell that sat a few feet away from him. Apparently, the prisoner would be out like a light when put in there, and that was not what Max wanted at the moment.

So, Max opened six of the twenty cells that lined the corridor and had the unconscious Kreeyar put in them, two to a cell, with the captain having a cell to himself. The two dead Kreeyar, however, were left where they were, lying off to one side in the corridor. After closing the cells, Max had a few of his slithering companions apply the antidote that would wake the unconscious Kreeyar up. They were in for a shock.

Not bothering to wait for them to wake, he went to find the captain and report.

Ianthe looked upon the mess of flesh before her. She wanted to cry for him but she opted to do so in her heart and mind. She carefully touched some of the unmarred flesh on his neck, she was trying to relax him because she had long since decided what she was going to do to these wounds.

"Thank you Ianthe. You do not know what you mean to me, you do not know what I owe you."

"It's quite alright," she said softly as she thought about how much power to use, it was going to be a lot as it were but if she applied too much she would probably pass out and that would upset him. Maybe it would be best just to let him know what was going to happen.

"Cale... I am going to heal your back..." She said. "It will hurt for but a moment as I have to make contact with the wound... But it will be over quickly. "Do not be afraid for me, I will become weakened and I may become unconscious..." She ran and hand through his hair from behind. "Everything is going to be fine," she reassured as she placed her hands as gently as possible on his back, but she did have to be firm, before she concentrated on letting the Healing Touch do it's job. She never seemed to have enough strength when she was on the Kreeyar ship... But now she had enough, she hoped.

Cale sat there as calm as he could be as listened to what Ianthe said about applying a Healing Touch to his back. He knew that she wanted to help him, to take away some of the wounds from his back but there was a part of him that wanted to keep them, if only for one reason. He wanted to have a small reminder of what the Kreeyar had done to him, of what they were capable of. He knew that Ianthe wanted to make him whole but he knew that he never would be again, that the wounds on his back ran far too deep for her to heal.

He moved slowly back towards her then looked over his shoulder.

"If you want to then you can heal the wounds that you can see but I ask one thing; that you leave scars there. I know that it is a strange request but I never want to forget what those things did to me, what they are capable of doing to anyone else."

He took a deep breath and tried to pick his next words carefully, "I know that you want to help me and I want you to but I do not want you to exhaust yourself when there may be others on this ship who need your skills far more than I do. I am sorry if I do sound harsh as I do not want to be."

"If you want to then you can heal the wounds that you can see but I ask one thing; that you leave scars there. I know that it is a strange request but I never want to forget what those things did to me, what they are capable of doing to anyone else."

She smiled, a bit sadly at his request. "I could not heal the scars..." She said gently scratching his hair pleasantly. "I am not so skilled as to be able to pull such a thing off, I will not be able to do such a thing until I am much older I assure you," she said with a sigh.

"I know that you want to help me and I want you to but I do not want you to exhaust yourself when there may be others on this ship who need your skills far more than I do. I am sorry if I do sound harsh as I do not want to be."

"It's fine, I've cared for all of the serious cases yet, and all of the other's are fine." She looked back to the other's body. It was cleaning up but those scars... She doubted that she would ever be able to rid him of them and in an odd sense she could understand why he would want to keep them. It was a depressing matter in it's own right but she understood it.

It was a reminder... Never forget...

"It just made me a little tired," Ianthe managed with a brilliant smile at him. Into the bed she crawled. "I just need a nap," she explained as she settled herself on the fairly comfortable mattress. "Do you want to join me?" She asked almost shyly.

Cale looked back and Ianthe with a smile.

"Thank you for doing what you could. I would not wish you to do anything more than you have, anything else would be imposing."

He felt a warm sensation run from his back through his entire body and knew that the avian was healing him as much as she could. When he looked behind his shoulder to thank her however he could see the look that she had on her face when she saw the scars that were still on his back.

"Please do not worry about them Ianthe. I know that you are too young to take them away from me but I will not ask you to. I can see in your eyes that you know why I keep them, why I do not want to forget what those Kreeyar scum did to me. Please do not feel depressed about what you could not take away from me as I would never ask anything more from you."

He then saw the tiredness seem to flow over her face and moved just to see her lay down on the mattress. He looked at her eyes to see that her energy level was low. It was then that she asked him if he would like to join her.

"I cannot think of any place that I would rather be at this point in time my dear Ianthe," Cale said before he lay down on the bed next to her and ran his fingers slowly through her hair.

"I cannot think of any place that I would rather be at this point in time my dear Ianthe."

THe young avian woman smiled as cale's fingers found their way into her hair, it had been tiring to heal so much but she was glad that he was not in pain. It was not long before she scooted closer to the warm body next to her.

Ianthe cuddled closer to the man by her, finding comfort in his arms. It wasn't just the warmth that she sought, it was that bond. She felt it... he felt it... It was there and she didn't mind it at all. She could feel herself dozing and yet she fought her sleep.

Of course it was a losing battle.

"Cale?" She asked trying to get him to look down at her. "Thank you... because... if I hadn't found you in the ship... I doubt I would be alive today..." She smiled and let her lips move to catch his in a gentle embrace.
