If you're not in a position to have a baby with the guy you're having sex with, you should be using a condom. Antibiotics and even some herbal "remedies" can interfere with the effectiveness of birth control pills.

Putting on a condom doesn't have to be a procedure or even a big deal during sex. If loss of sensation is an issue, try the UltraThin ones. Yeah, and you can also put the condom on with your mouth. Do unroll it the first inch or so with your hands, though. You don't want to risk tearing it.

I agree with everyone else (...well, ALMOST everyone else, frog_jo) on this topic - being able to relax and enjoy sex without fear is a much better stimulant than not wearing the condom. Besides, most of the fun parts don't involve intercourse anyway.

You gotta do what feels right for you. If the man's any kind of decent, he'll understand. I doubt he wants any 'surprises' either.
