AH Anthology

Coming Together AND our web site address are mentioned in the December issue of Playgirl magazine (page 29).

It won't be on newsstands until the end of next week. (I have a scan from someone who has a subscription -- but it's too large to attach.)

Thanks Imp,

You seem to be doing a phenomenal job marketing this book. Some day, I hope to get one of mine vetted so that I can take advantage of your dedication.

Jenny

(and a hint-hint to everyone else! )

Finally ordered my copy of Volume 2 today. I'll have to find a copy of Playgirl when it comes out. Very very cool. :)

Try a siggie pimp ... a link in your sig ... like Honey did. It worked for her. Two of her poems were vetted in record time.

Bel & I submitted San Diego Sunset to a publisher. If it gets accepted prior to v3's publication, we'll have to pull it from v3 -- which will make room for another story.

Fingers crossed for you guys!!

I'd love to get 'Joey's Sunset" or "Lotus Flower" in v3

Folks, two things:

(a) I'm getting PMs to vet stories that have not even been submitted for consideration. While this isn't really a problem, I need the link to the story, the category, and the word count. I'll still record the recommendations, but I'm not adding the story to the table until I have that information -- and I'm not slogging around to fetch it myself.

(b) I'm getting PMs to vet stories from people I've never seen post in the AH before. While this isn't really a problem, either, I just wanted to make you aware of it. Not sure what, if any, "rules" you'd like to adopt about non-AHers' involvement.

:rose:

I think I'd want to have the stories in the table before vetting.
Otherwise we'd end up in a book with stories we don't even know about.

I think it's best to ask the person's permission too before putting forward a story, which would go on the nominators shoulders, not yours Imp. I can't see folks being upset about it BUT some might.

I'm not sure about the Non-AHer's though, not because I ant to be a cliquey *L* but just because it's been an AH collaboration so far and I don't know if we want it to stay that way or not :)

I'm leaning towards letting only AHers in.

I think most of us have done more for this project than just submit stories. We've read them, vetted them, edited them, kicked people in the butt to get them into Imp, held one another's hands.

Not sure non-AHers have put enough into it.

Um, done some more thinking. LOL

I think people should put their own story forth if they want to be part of this project.
Nothing wrong with getting nudged but you have to be willing to step forward. I think.

Can we define AH'er? :D

I understand what you're saying, Rob. But we should leave room for new participants, in my opinion.

:)

I think they should have posted in the AH. Maybe only once, and maybe just because they wish to be considered, but they (and we) should at least have met.

And they should put their own stories forward, just like the rest of us, in order to be considered to be vetted. Perhaps they'll vet faster than other stories that have been there, perhaps not. But they shouldn't be allowed to bypass that which has made the volumes such quality thus far.

If they want in, they need to do (at least!) the bare minimum to be considered.

Make sense?

Besides, imp does enough without trying to figure out special privileges for a select few. Why are we trying to make her life more difficult?

Well, I think I'm the one she is talking about in the (1) part of her post.

I guess I just get confused as to what vetting is and what needs to be done. I personally would like to see if people think they like a story and then go to Imp and tell her so..that way Imp can then PM the author and say, ok, you have 10 votes for this story....

How does a story get on the list otherwise? Who makes that decision? Imp already knows that I have asked her to put a story on and she told me to get it vetted....so that's what I have been doing. Now it seems as if I have been doing it wrong...

I'm so confused...

An author might not want his/her work considered for Coming Together. (There ARE authors who've been recommended who prefer not to participate for whatever reason, and that's just fine.)

I've got enough to do without chasing after disinterested authors.

A story gets on the list when the author posts (a) the title; (b) the link; (c) the category; and (d) the word count on this thread. Simple, really. That way, we know it's the author ... and not the author's fan club ... who wants to participate (and, by implicit extension, is committing to editing the story & getting it to me in the proper format when/if it's eventually vetted).

A thorough read of the first post on this thread should answer any/all questions about "procedure" -- and if it does not, then let me know so that I can clarify that post.

I would think they should at least be posting on this thread. As for being members of the AH, it is certainly not an exclusive membership. Anybody who wants to can join in. I don't see how somebody can get involved without posting here. After all, there is more involved than just writing. There is vetting, for instance, and being some kind of cheering section and general friendliness.
