Alberta cleared for separation referendum.

Ohhh Philly, ohhh Philly, this video is just for you! Its not done yet but Trump doesn't break promises so we KNOW you are soon to be an American. Maybe you could move to an Asian country or maybe African country? Your choice! 😁 Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manatoba and British Columbia all want to join the US!

You need to calm down, take a deep breath, and completely reverse absolutely everything about your whole political world-view.

In any civilised country this would be called a treason ( not applying to Quebec :D ).

Nope. You're an idiot pedophile, plain and simple.

We want nothing to do with your degenerate country of pedophiles rapists and murderers.

They only thing you ever took was your sister's virginity.

Happily got my signature in yesterday morning. 😎

Word is we blasted past the minimum signatures needed; just a matter now of how many more beyond it we get to send a strong message on the course of the actual referendum. 😃

Going to be fun to watch this unfold you bet. There is a handshake deal in place that upon successful passing of the referendum the US will extend the new nation of Alberta a $500 billion line of credit secured by their oil reserves. This gives Alberta significant leverage in negotiations with Ottawa.

You go Carney "the great uniter". LMAO
Yet another example of a trumptard believing false information.

Guess what, Biden won in 2020.

The American funded ringleaders of the referendum certainly didnt help either when they posted personal information of over 2 million Albertans. With the referendum tally now being investigated for potential fraud, the First Nations saying ' no" was just the icing on the cake

With over 700k Albertans having signed on asking the question of whether Alberta should remain in Canada, it looks like it would be political suicide for Premier Smith to not have a referendum on it.

I don't give a fuck what they do, just don't try to join the U.S. We've got a nice looking border in that area - don't fuck it up.

Allegedly 700 K total on two seperate petitions... one of them ( 400 K)just got quashed for not consulting First Nations as they were mandated to; you just can't ignore the territories that preceed the creation of Alberta after all and was a violation of treaty rights

the other ( 300K) is facing a whole bunch of hurdles. Firstly, the American backed sponsors Centurion are in some very hot legal water when they were found to have accessed the private information of millions of citizens quite illegally in order to hunt down signatures. Naturally the company isnt co-operating with the investigation, which will probably bite them in the ass if this even has a whiff of voter fraud. Their other hurdle being the government itself trying to wash their hands clean of it; despite what American media tells you,Alberta seperatism popularity is at a 20 year low

False. An activist judge tried claiming that, but first nations only need to be consulted when a referendum actually happens and separation is on the table. Then they can decide if they want their lands to remain part of Canada under the exact same treaties, let Alberta take over the obligations, or renegotiate new and (very likely) much better treaties.

There is no violation of treaty rights. First nations get to decide if anything changes for them, whether Alberta separates or not.

All fake news.

Amercian media doesn't dictate the reality of my province, one way or another. The issue of Alberta separatism is at an all time high; two petitons totaling over 700k signitures proves it.

Two Justice's have ruled that petition is incorrect in law, the only reasons the Bill has any traction is due to Bill 14 passed by UCP, no matter how much the seccessionists wail and moan, First Nations treaties demand consultation.. you cannot petition away legislature.

Centurion is very much not fake news

They were two two seperate petitions equalling 700 k, that doe does not mean 700K people voted, could mean simply 400 K voted ...assuming they were all legit voters , but that's exactly why there is an investigation into the massive privacy breach incident

also 28% popularity isn't probably something that is brag worthy, just saying

And they're wrong. Citizens do not need permission from or need to consult first nations to have opinions or petition their government.

Privacy breach concerns do not invalidate petition signers having signed the petitions.

Cool, then those against separation have nothing to worry about.

NICE start... a $500 billion line of credit

Welp, DonOld & the MAGAt republicans DID give that fraud Milei $50 BILLION to prop up his failing fascist government in Argentina, so $500 BILLION for the fascists in Alberta seems doable…

😑

We. Told. Them. So.

Despite a great deal of anger and frustration from the pro independence side, they (or at least some) seem to have generally caught on that Daniel Smith's proposed referendum questions are the best shot we have at actually getting a proper referendum vote.

Pro independence influencers had to get over the fact that stomping feet and demanding a referendum immediately is not going to result in actually winning independence. We can scream and demand a referendum immediately and lose, given independence polling itself shows we don't yet have the numbers, or embrace Smith's tactic as actually the most viable means of actually achieving independence.

If Alberta does split I wouldn't be surprised if Quebec tried to do the same. Also, if Alberta leaves you can expect Saskatchewan to follow.
Quebec is not looking to separate. They just like using the threat of separation to make the rest of Canada jump when they snap their fingers.

At present, Canada is better aligning with Europe than the U.S.
At present perhaps, but geography makes the US a better trade partner in the long run (ie after this trump craziness passes). If however we wish to seek other alliances, I'm curious why Carney has not even considered CANZUK. We would have a common language, common parliamentary system, and a common legal regime.
