Anyone from NY state?

Hmmm... looked at a map of New York and there are way too many lakes for me to guess but... I'm gonna guess that the tri-lakes are not even part of the Fingerlakes but rather a group of other lakes altogether.

It's amazing to me that no one here, except Schlemka, knows where the Tri-Lakes area is. Hmmm. Maybe he misspelled it. Maybe its the "Tri-Leaks" area. Or, maybe its some sort of anagram. Does "Kraitels" mean anything to anyone? "Re-Latkis?" ;)

Aren't latkis a potato pancake? Oooo, I have makings for potato pancakes for dinner tonight. Thanks for reminding me. LOL When are you going to finish my wet noodle lashes with your tongue?

Call me a stickler, but that's NOT upstate!!! That's the North Country.

ok, so it is Saranac Lake, Lake Placid, and Tupper Lake. And i consider it upstate ny and the North country. As i see it to be UPstate you have to be at the top of the state, most of what people consider upstate is central ny to me...

Could be worse... you could be from the city and consider Westchester upstate...

I don't think I've run across anyone who actually thinks Westchester is upstate...but then, I'm a transplant, and most of the people I know here are transplants. For all I know it's a different story with the locals...most transplants don't seem to buy into the whole "greatest city in the world" thing either...must have something to do with having been to other cities. :D

I was thinking about the relationship of Upstate to NYC the other day. We're about 3 -4 hours from you guys. Everyone I know who grew up around here always referred to NYC as "The City." Great movie that I think must have been written by somebody who lived upstate and in the city at some point, Serendipity. It just has a feel that captures New York City in the fall/winter and yet there's something so Upstate about it. Two characters also refer to having gone to BU for college.

Decided to save it for today. Experimenting with a baked version in a cast iron frying pan to reduce oil. I'll let you know. :)

For what it's worth, I consider anything north of Westchester "Upstate". Then "Upstate" can be divided into several subregions, such as Finger Lakes, North Country, Southern Tier, etc. But then, I didn't grow up here, so maybe that colors my perspective. Also, I kinda like being grouped in the same geographical region as the ADK's.

That would work out just fine. I don't have either. My family always mixed sour cream and cottage cheese but i only have the latter.
