Are we allowed to talk about LE alternatives here?

However I have stopped using both. The T&Cs are “looser” and there is some absolutely appalling content on both.
Would you mind explaining a little bit the rationale for this? I live in the US. Is there a legal threat to being on the same website where someone else posts appalling content? I post on X under my real name and I hear that there is truly appalling content posted there all the time, and even though I have never seen any, I understand it's a constant battle. Is legal threat your concern, or is the concern more that you might run into it and be disgusted? Or something else? Many thanks!

Rape, underage, and bestiality are permitted. Even mixing all three is fine.

Before I read stories here, I used to read erotica on SOL. I found myself there because I was looking for where Al Steiner ended up after the newsgroups era ended. A.S.S.M was where I discovered erotica and I was there for the golden age - Steiner, Scipio, Lockwood, Pendragon. Really amazing, magical times, before corporations and governments came together to squash the dream of human freedom.

I gave up on SOL when more and more authors started disappearing behind the paywall. I am not opposed to paying for products, but I definitely found issue with paying SOL for the work of others, much of which had been written during the halcyon days of the free internet. Otherwise, I would have probably stayed there, but maybe then I would have never bothered to start writing.

So, overall, I'm glad I ended up here. I just wish they would fix it!

I like the “old internet” appearance of SOL, and I also briefly used AO3. However I have stopped using both. The T&Cs are “looser” and there is some absolutely appalling content on both.
I’ve had people pitch other places to me with the line: “They alllow underage.” I’m like 🤢. And the implication wasn’t 17 and 11 months. Rather younger than that. It’s weird that some people see that a selling point.

No moderation is a HUGE selling point. I've been waiting for a month for this site to release the next chapter of my book. It's enormously annoying. This thread we are writing on, five pages of it, started because I am looking for alternatives with more reasonable moderation.

Yes, no moderation has downsides too, but it definitely has upsides.

I don’t want to be on a site with no moderation of content.
Of course. Nobody would like that. The site would be shut down, unusable, and disgusting. Some moderation is a necessary evil. The more you moderate, the more evil and less necessary it becomes.
I find it useful to always remember that there is a dial there that is being set by someone.

Most sites have some kind of moderation. Even SOL has standards, but not nearly as strict as here. But here, on this site, you get the most exposure. Sexstories has some truly disturbing stories, and even that site has restrictions. But people sneak shit through on them all the time. I've considered pulling all my stories down at that one. In fact, I haven't published there since 2020.
