While I was in college there I remember a photo on teh front page of the paper that showed a cop car stuck in an underpass that was flooded and the second cop car stuck there too trying to help cop car #1 get out. OMG classic stupidity.

How funny...

Now they have a "stupid driver" law, or some such thing, and if they have to come rescue your ass out of a flooded wash with barricades in place, you get cited for it. Nice hefty price tag, there.

Hmm...I'll bet the cops don't have to pay for it when it happens to them. :D

Oh, and yes, there are PLENTY of people stupid enough to drive around the barricades!

It seems to me that the "stupid driver" law has cut down on the number of people getting rescued. Maybe we're just letting them was away.

I'm from Phoenix, I didn't see your thread until today!

LOL...well, I'll see what I can do about that, sweetie! I'm sure if I just talk to the right people...

But you might just want to save that car wash receipt, just in case!

Drive safe, dear, and I hope your girl's doing well...hope she gets to come home soon!:rose:

you did a wonderful job! not a drop!

she is doing well this week. thank you!

Nice to meet you lois...welcome to the Az thread. We all kinda come and go here and pop back in now and again. It's always cool to meet a new zonie.

And yes, maybe more wash away than we realize! I do agree, though, that the stupid motorist law has most likely cut the number of needed rescues. And that is a good thing. :)

It has seemed to help. It is amusing to see the vacationers who think they find supreme parking where the washes cross the streets downtown.. storm rushes in and car rushes down the wash..

Yep, that's rough justice, alright. :D

Good afternoon, Zonies!! I'll bet everyone's ready for the weekend, aren't you? ME TOO!:nana:

Hey all you Zonies! How is everyone doing this week? Getting your fill of late night Olympics?

Hi Sunny...sorry to read about your truck!! That totally sucks! Of all the dumb things, hope it gets fixed without too much hassle!:rose:

Having fun watching Olypics here and there. I think I've mostly seen swimming events. It's always what's on when I happen to watch TV, which isn't often.

Say...did you hear about the Swedish wrestler that threw a fit over only winning a bronze medal? He took his medal, threw it down, and stormed off in a ranting snit like a little boy. I read this tonight.

Unbelievable.

I did hear about it... saw a clip of him being restrained when he wanted to go after the officials earlier.

Just saw this:

The funny thing is there isn't too much exaggeration in this, lol. It's mostly true.:D

YOU KNOW YOU ARE IN ARIZONA IN AUGUST WHEN:
The birds have to use potholders to pull worms out of the ground.
The trees are whistling for the dogs.
The best parking place is determined by shade instead of distance.
Hot water now comes out of both taps.
You can make sun tea instantly.
You learn that a seat belt buckle makes a pretty good branding iron.
The temperature drops below 95 and you feel a little chilly.
You discover that in July it only takes 2 fingers to steer your car.
You discover you can get sunburned through your car window.
You actually burn your hand opening the car door.
You break into a sweat the instant you step outside at 7:30 A.M.
Your biggest bicycle wreck fear is, "What if I get knocked out and end up lying on the pavement and cook to death?"
You realize that asphalt has a liquid state.
The potatoes cook underground, so all you have to do is pull one out and add butter, salt and pepper.
Farmers are feeding their chickens crushed ice to keep them from laying hard boiled eggs.
The cows are giving evaporated milk.
Arizona..........Ah, what a place to call home.

Another version:
YOU LIVE IN ARIZONA WHEN....
1. You are willing to park 3 blocks away because you found shade.
2. You can open and drive your car without touching the car door or the steering wheel.
3. You've experienced steam on your butt from the hot water in the toilet bowl.
4. You would give anything to be able to splash cold water on your face.
5. You can attend any function wearing shorts and a tank top.
6. "Dress Code" is meaningless at high schools and universities. Picture lingerie ads.
7. You can drive for 4 hours in one direction and never leave town.
8. You have over 100 recipes for Mexican food.
9. The 4 seasons are: tolerable, hot, really hot, and ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!!!
10. You know that "dry heat" is comparable to what hits you in the face when you open your oven door.
11. You look at the sign over the bridge that says "No Fishing" and there is no water in the river. Duh.

I'll take too hot over too cold any day! Cold is bad. Cold is not our friend.

*looks over at my stats* Woo, give me another 6 years and I should be up to a good 50-ish posts! Someone hold me back!!!

Hehe;)

Heard today that the IOC stripped him of the medal.

Good on 'em, I say. He obviously didn't deserve it, or appreciate it.:(

Hey there, Mr-Gyrus...come on out of the shadows if you will....:D

We won't bite...promise!

Nice to see you here, hon...;) And yes, many people here say that about the heat. Me, I like a happy medium. Summer is my least favorite time of year, here.

Hi there!

What I wouldnt give for cold water in the shower...

one august a few years back my boyfriend and I stayed overnight in so cal for a family wedding, we were bunking at his parents house and I got first ups for the shower, I was in there about 35 minutes, so not me, so when I came out he asked what took me so long... I just smiled at him and told him..... They have cold water! :D

Morning Shykittyme and Sunbunny3:)

I'm so much of a wimp at this point, that when it drops below 75 degrees I start breaking out the thermals. Though, I do need to admit, that when it goes past 115 degrees, it is just darn hot;)

I hear ya Sunbunny about the cold shower thing. After you work all day and you come home hot and less than "april fresh", the last thing you want is a hot shower. Small price to pay though since we don't have to shovel any snow:D

*wipes brow* Whew! Two posts in two days. Uhhh, I think I'm winded!

Oh golly, (yes, I just used the word golly) I haven't been to Laughlin in a long time. Not since college, now that I think about it. I remember it as being kinda quiet but a good place to relax and play some she-she slots and tables. I'm sure it has changed a lot since then.

Ugh....so sleepy.....time to visit snooze-ville;)
