Ask Me a Question v 12.26.2021

Galapagos, Marquesas, Tahiti ....

What is your preferred method of travel?
If I could, I'd drive everywhere only because the journey is the coolest part about a trip and then exploring would be easier.
Otherwise, I am getting used to flying again.

Do you have any travel rituals you follow?

I usually pack a suitcase :)

When traveling for business how long does it take before you just want to get home?
I never get to travel for business. I'm too blue collar I guess.

Are you a souvenir type of person when you travel?

Always.

Do you bring back something for a loved one when you travel?
I try to every time. The last time, I brought back stuffies from one of the places I visited. I also started a magnet collection at the request of my daughter.

Has anyone snuck anything in your suitcase to surprise you?

I get a magnet whenever I go somewhere. I love to look at the reminders.

How do you unwind while traveling?
I just try to spend some time checking out the area when I get there.
At the airport it's writing or playing games.

see my above question.

It's been kind of a family tradition with me, my partner puts letters in my case every time I travel now.

Do you ever have a problem entering a foreign country?
I haven't traveled into a foreign country since I was in high school. I don't have a criminal record or anything though.

Alcohol or not on a flight?

Can you sleep on a flight or not?
I've fallen asleep even before take-off lol - thankfully also in business class ---- only because I had very little sleep the previous few nights.

What was your worst experience on a flight ever?
hmm off-hand, probably the time when we were on some wait/transit (?), and a group of passengers crowded around and talked at the top of their voices - this was IN the plane itself.

whats your favorite flight route?

Yes, I'm fortunate to travel business class for long haul.

Losing my luggage. I was taking a two week trip to the East Coast to visit family and such. I have a long layover in Chicago, but didn't know they would release my bag to me in case I was staying in a hotel that night. The bag went back to Seattle while I went to DC. It was a fun trip and I had to get creative. I never flew that airline again and I am more careful on booking my tickets.

Have you ever had a bad experience with a rental car?

I haven't taken the same route more than once. But flying to Houston from Seattle before the small jaunt to San Antonio was the last one and I loved it.

Same question. :)

Have you ever had a bad experience with a rental car?

Yes, although I don't rent cars that much we only seem to do it when we go to Cape Town to visit my partners family. I booked a car that my partners sister wanted to buy for herself, we thought it would be a good idea for her to be around the car for the weekend. On collecting the car they had upgraded me because the car I booked was not available. Under normal circumstances that would have been great but not this time I was quite disappointed with the ordeal.

Have you ever crashed a rental car or loan car?

I did mess up a tire last year.
Paris - Stockholm.

Have you ever missed a flight because you were careless?
Not because of my carelessness, but due to flight issues.

What is your go to when you travel when it comes to sleeping? Do you try to sleep the same way you do at home or do you make adjustments?

This is a big pain for me, hotel beds. We have a duvet at home so it's warm and light. Hotels have sheets and blankets which make me feel constrained. So I have to untuck all of it so I can get comfortable.

Do you steal stuff from hotels?

No. Not worth it in my book.
Yes and yes 🤣

Not totalled, but got in an accident while getting out of a parking lot 🤦

Had you have your luggage lost on a trip? Or at least delayed long enough that it didn't matter anymore.
I talked about it earlier in the thread. I am more careful now.

Do you prefer to eat like a local when you travel or do you look for things you are used to?
