ATL May Litogether

Kewl. This is really looking like it could be big!

Not that size matters. No. Not at all.

:D

I will spend some time this weekend working out some figures and such and will post it for you out of towners. I hope all is well.

Tucker is an 'ok' place as far as safety is concerned. How many of you are interested in staying in this area specifically for its location? Is the only reason this location is appealing is b/c of how close it is to 1763? While it says 1763 is 10 miles from downtown- a 10 mile drive in Atlanta is about a 20 min drive depending on what time of day it is. Friday afternoons- don't even think about going out of the city on 85 or 285. It is madness. With that being said, Tucker is not 'close' to any of Atlanta's sites or tourist attractions. But then again I don't know if anyone is interested in any tourist attractions.

If everyone could give me an idea of their budgets I can start looking into lodgings. Is there any other areas people might be interested in staying?

Yes, Tucker isn't the best area of town. If we are NOT meeting at 1763 there is no reason to stay there. Tourist wise, I'm up for anything or not. I can be happy just hanging out.

The hotels were not found by me but by another for the previous ATL get together last January. I don't want to take credit for her work! They were very useful.

We stayed at the first place listed and found it to be pretty nice lodgings for the dollars.

And the City Cafe Diner over by the Kroger on LaVista is just the absolute icing on the cake at 2 or 3 am as you are dragging outta 1763 with a serious badass case of post-play munchies...

Their 6 and 7 layer cakes are effing amazing. Foods good too. Order an appetizer, a couple of salads and split a dinner. Trust me on this, you will not go hungry. Skip the appetizer if you want room for the dessert...

The Landmark Diner is good for this as well as the Buckhead Diner. Anything but the friggin' Awful Waffle.

Ok, so as some of you know I had a really bad weekend, but never fear, I am still working on this. The dates are still set for the first weekend in May and with the feedback thus far it seems we are deadlocked between not going to 'play' activities and going to 'play' activities. I would really like more feed back from the rest of you so I can be more decisive on what areas to look in for hotels. I know a lot of people don't realize how very big the metro Atlanta area is so figuring out what we all might want to do will help. I am sure most of us would like to stay in the same general area to cut down on travel and what not. So let me have it, y'all. I can take it. What do you all want to do? :)

This may sound crazy, but Atlanta was the only large metro I've been in that did not put me off. Usually I seriously dislike big cities. Not sure why I was cool with Atlanta. Goodness knows the traffic alone should've driven me insane.

yeah, even though it is a HUGE area with over 5 million people, it really isn't as bad as most people make it out to be. If you can relax and have the time, the city is actually quite welcoming. But since we only have a weekend to work with here, i think staying in the same area would be beneficial. :)

I figure a play venue is a good idea for most. I see no reason why we can't have a dinner, lunch and/or breakfast and a play venue. I'm willing to show up at the play venue to meet everyone even though I won't likely be playing and assuming I'm of the right age to get in. LOL.

If the play venue is the club Geoff mentioned then I think we should stay relatively close to it. If it is someone's home or a different club that would change.

I'm pretty easy about all this. I don't want to spend a huge amount of money for accommodations and so on, but I'm more than willing to go with the flow on just about everything. My main purpose on this trip is to meet ADR and others who come out!

BTW, SweetGigi and anyone else in the ATL area,

Have you ever been to that Kangaroo place near ATL? Marsupials yanno? If so is it worth going to?

:rose:

I will agree with Fury that the reason I want to attend is to meet all you wonderful people. I'd be perfectly happy to have breakfast/lunch/dinner at a place we would all be comfortable and be able to talk. The play venue is fun, but as we learned last time, not really conducive to discussion because of club rules regarding keeping quiet in the dungeon area. Unless you're actively playing at the club, it's best to be seen and not heard so that you're not interrupting others who are playing.

It's a guarantee that I won't be playing regardless of the venue as I am only comfortable with my Dom, and he won't be attending. However ... I am pervishly voyeuristic and will watch with glee anyone who IS playing.

And we could also hang out for coffee, ice cream and/or drinks. LOL.

I'm up for just about anything but public play with me. involved.

I did enjoy the demo last time. I enjoyed watching my husband's face. I enjoyed touching the various surfaces of whatever implement was sent around.

I enjoyed the violet wand! Thanks Evil_Geoff!

I so enjoyed meeting you all that came there!

A play venue of some sort (private OR public) would be good if there are those who want to play (D'oh!), and most I've been to over the years also have areas to sit and sip (non-alcholic) drinks, munch on whatevers, and talk. If the one chosen didn't have such an area, I'd still hope that we'd be hanging around enough to have a meal or three together and likely some just "socialization" time.

As for wanting to play, in a public venue or private, I'm just about always willing to flog (/spank/paddle/crop/cane/whatEVah) the willing female bottom, but it's not a requirement in order for me to have a good time. Like others, a key reason for me to come down is to meet ADR and the rest of y'all - make some connections, as it were.

However, my attendance is dependent on the caveat that finances for '07 taxes and my planned move no later than 6/1 (and preferably by 5/1) are in place - Uncle Sam and the move have to come first.

may I add, too, that I will not be participating in any sort of play if we attend a club. It's just not my thing. :)
