Best antonym for polyamorous

I really don’t have to pay any attention to your instructions.
People intentionally making other people's lives harder is another of my pet peeves.

You are physically capable of taking a crap on the street in front of my house, too. Just don't act surprised when I'm annoyed.

Edit: That came out harsher than I intended, but the point still stands.

Except it is sometimes difficult to separate jokes from serious answers.
Monoamorous, like I said and linked to, was serious, everything else is just the chaos gremlin energy you get from a bunch of writers trying to outpun each other. Which, I will admit, is kind of on me, sorry 😅 But I'm sure someone else would've stepped in for first pun had I not, which is why I tried to also give you a legit answer with a link even!

I made a conscious effort not to be harsh, but you stumbled into one of my pet peeves. I have a whole six-month-long story involving mechanical repairs and military inspections about why it is a pet peeve. I almost posted the whole long thing before I realized nobody cares.

But suffice it to say, four decades later, if I hop on a computer repair forum with a question and say in the OP, "I turned it off, waited two minutes, and turned it on again, and that did nothing for the problem," then the only response I have to a reply of "Have you tried turning it off and on again?" is annoyance.
Blah blah blah.

You have a stick up your ass.

You should try logging off and NOT logging back on, that would fix your problem.

LOL....

Give me my freaking sports bottle you yobo game! I want to finish the freaking thread!

Am I understanding right that you're looking for a word for someone who is only capable of loving one person at a time? Maybe single-hearted? I don't know if that's a real word but I think it'd get the point across.

Sorry people are giving you a hard time. I totally get the frustration of asking a question and only getting jokes or answers that you've already established won't work.

I've also seen people use (name)sexual when someone is completely 110% romantically and sexually focused on one specific person, but that's got a bit of a silly connotation.

I like mine better... I think I'll use it in a story.

The fucking/non-fucking one ass, or the painted nudes by pigeon carrier?

My fellow cat, single-hearted sounds like being forever single and never ready to mingle 😭

Now that you've asked, maybe both, I guess it depends on my mood. Check back tomorrow.

So, @usable001, did you find one that works for you yet?
Yes and no.

I've learned some interesting words, but actually using them without context would be a bit like saying "hardness" and expecting someone to know I mean the engineering definition: resistance to surface indentation (vs. compression strength, tensile strength, or a dozen other terms from material science).

If I talk about polygamy vs polyamory vs cheating, particularly within a setting like here, most readers get the distinction between the three words. I'm not confident that is true for any of the words introduced within this thread.

It just isn't giving you that hard of a time, though. If it even is at all. It is totally wild that you're taking it that way - and doubling down after it's made super clear to you (like it already was from the very beginning to the rest of us) that it was intended as humor, not as a fuckyou to your "no negativity" instruction.

I'm not going to go so far as to say that it's making anyone's life hard, because all any of this is is just some posts on an internet forum, but, not-having-a-sense-of-humor is a peeve, too.

I really think monogamy and monoamorous probably fit the bill best, the first being a very standard word, and the second being one that, while not standard, people can pretty easily intuit if they know what polyamorous means, or even just have a basic grasp of root words.

Back on topic: Specifically with regard to your story, what is an example of a sentence you would like to put this hypothetical word into?

The reason I'm asking is, if it turns out that there really is no word that you feel fits, then maybe what's called for is to consider writing the passage differently so that you use more words to convey what you mean, while still letting the "non-polyamorous" concept hold the same place and serve the same purpose in the story.
