Christian Bale is just hot, he was great in Newsies too which is where I fell in love with him, make him Gambit and OMG would he so become my new dream guy. *giggles*

Bale was all right as The Batman, but he was much better in Equilibrium. His stoic attitude just made that movie for me, especially when he killed Sean Bean. he made the whole idea of 'sense crime' plausible by not showing any emotion until the plot dictated he do so.

Equilibrium was one of those films we rented on a whim, and loved it. It reminded me of a more action oriented Faranheit 451. (My apologies if I misspelled that title.)

And yes, Bale was perfect for the role in the film. In fact, that movie is what got me psyched to see him as Batman.

Bale has appeared in so many fringe movies, yet he is a gifted actor. Sort of like the 'Bruce Campbell that never was.' He has talent, and ambition, yet it seems to be realized in only a limited way. Too bad for him. He could be Oscar material.

I also agree with the casting of Silence of the Lambs as pretty perfect on all counts!

The cast of "The Piano" was almost perfect too...Holly Hunter, Harvey Keitel (so mmmmm good in it) and Anna Paquin! Really superbly cast...mesmerizing!

Equilibrium just has so much going for it, not only as an action movie, but as a true tribute to what Science Fiction was in the fifties and sixties. It is a must-see for fans of either sci-fi or Christian Bale.

Oh, God, you are so right!

William Cutting has got to rank as one of the Top Ten movie villains of all time. And the fact the Daniel Day-Lewis could so completely pull off that role, as well as that of 'My Left Foot,' just goes to show his versatility as an actor.

Stranger Than Fiction has two perfect castings:

Emma Thompson and Maggie Gyllenhaal. One beutifully neurotic and one just the right kind of sexy. Where Will Ferell's attempt at being 'grey' and 'normal' stuck out like a sore thumb, those two saved the movie.

I loved Equilibrium. Like others I rented it on a whim and was more than pleasantly surprised.

Plus it had Emily Watson in it. Yum.

In honor of Recidiva's AV, the lovely Summer Glau as River Tam in Serenity. She combined a believable performance as a disturbed brain-washing victim with an amazing fight scene that could be something no other actress in Hollywood was capable of pulling off.

Nathan Fillion was brilliant as Captain Malcolm Reynolds. It is my favorite Sci-Fi movie of the last 20 years, and sadly, it was not as widely accepted as it should have been (although the critics agreed with me, so they're right . . . for once ).

I have to agree that Anthon Hopkins as Lecter was just...astounded. He really does awe inspiring intelligently evil fantastically.

Also, The Piano as a film didn't impress me so much, but i have to agree again that Harvey Keitel was very good in his role, i like how she was his becoming.

They barely broke even (if that) between tickets sold & video, so no, there's no hope of another one. Instead we'll get the next 3 Spiderman movies, FF & spinoffs, and a whole bunch of other crap that doesn't take any chances. Joss showed us something different, daring, and interesting. It bombed, so we'll get formula for the next decade or so. That's why I'm hoping Cloverfield (or whatever they eventually call it) is going to be so different. I just want a movie that tries to wow me, not just shoot for the best common denominator. It really shouldn't just be dramas that are well-made movies.

Lord, yes. And in "The Seven Samurai." And in "The High and the Low." He's been damned good in absolutely everything I've seen him in. I particularly admired his work in "The High and the Low" given that it was so far out of the comic vein of the others.

Well, I didn't watch the show in it's original run because I was a huge Farscape fan, and at the time it seemed like they were trying to cash in on that show's popularity (among sci fi geeks at least )

I wasn't in the slightest interested until the movie was out in theaters, and still didn't see any of it until it was all out on DVD, at which time I bought the series box set and the movie, sat down and watched them alone in my room on my PC.

I dreaded another Buffy and was pleasantly surprised. The Firefly-iverse is so well thought through and cleverly executed that it's hard to think it's from the brains of the same guy. I mean, I like Buffy, but damn, it trips over its own feet way too often.

Claudia Black and Ben Browder in Farscape. Brilliant series (Star Trek meets Wizard of Oz meets Mad Max. Plus a truckload of sex appeal), top quality writing, and those two actors that took their parts and winged it for all it was worth.

I didn't like the roadrunner eppisode. Too me two tries to sit through it. Same with the video game one. They were pretty annoying.

But you are righ. Most shows wouldn't even TRY that kind of writing.

I loved Buffy, I even mildly enjoyed Angel, but Firefly is a must own to watch over and over agin series for me. I loved it. I was sooooooooo depressed that it wasn't going to continue and so excited to see the movie.
