I tried to burn my copy of the Fountaihead the other day. What a chore. Turns out book burning is harder than it looks in the movies. I finally just drown the thing and tossed it in the dumpster. It was not as satisfying as the bonfire I had imagined.

Given that most of my books are on a Kindle, I too would have trouble burning them. Plus, I am quite enamored with my books. I always say it would be a greater tragedy for me to lose my Kindle than my cell phone (although the Kindle cheaper to replace). I figure I just know where my priorities lie.

And I adore your new avatar. You remind me so much of someone I used to know who was a wonderful woman.

Hahaha. I have, too. I have a hard time imagining a reason why anyone would mean me any harm. But, then I get spooked sometimes when I connect with people who’ve been here for ages and advise caution/anonymity due to “stalkers” and “sociopaths.”

Out of curiosity, who gives up on books they find bad and who finishes them?

I admit sometimes I will put a book down because of things going on in my life and I don't feel the book meshes with that time, but I always pick it back up.

And with that said, what is the worst book you've ever read? For me, (other than 50 Shades of Crap), Anne Rice's Violin made me want to tear my eyes out. It felt never ending. And it was the last Anne Rice book I ever read.

I've not finished three that I can think of, Grapes of Wrath, 50 shades of crap, and Hairy pothead.

Sometimes I put a book down at bedtime or whatever, and never open it again. I start a new book that's interesting. Mostly I forget the bad and unfinished books.

The worst book I ever read that comes to mind is "Bridges of Madison County". I don't say that to pick on Romance Novels, because I read them sometimes. I say that because it read like the editor told him to make it longer and it would be published, so the author pulled out a thesaurus and added some words.

The descriptions were repetitive, needlessly superfluous, saying the same thing with different words, again and again. Redundant.
