Book Porn

I’m currently reading Mary Poppins, which I have never read before. I think sometimes it is good to give your brain a break from the “serious” stuff. The past month was so horribly chaotic that I found myself not wanting to read anything “too heavy.”

Luckily, work has changed for the better as of Friday because while I enjoy Mary Poppins, I have a lot of other books to catch up on.

may I recommend the film "Saving Mr Banks" if you like Poppins then you'll love this film.

Sometimes he reads out loud to me from a book he gave me on beating depression. I find it so caring, so comforting. I know I’m prone to hyperbole and romanticism, but... It restores my faith in humanity again. Makes me feel capable of love again.

That is beautiful. I love being read to by my partner. It’s been a while though.

Well, here's to hoping it works out and like the fairy tales you get a happily ever after. :rose:

Thank you. :rose: I hope so. I was born to be a little old lady sitting next to a little old man in our porch swing. I just know it. It’s the only thing that makes any sense. I’ve been 83 for like 43 years.

That's a beautiful image - with a pitcher of lemonade and a stack of books.

I never figured I'd be an old lady, but you make it sound charming.

It wasn't until I started reading and found books they wouldn't let us read in school that I discovered you could be insane and happy and have a good life without being like everybody else.

I dont know of any books that are banned in Australia.

However I did keep on getting books taken away from me for reading in class.

My favorite John Waters quote:

If-you-go-home-with-somebody-and.jpg

“When spring came, even the false spring, there were no problems except where to be happiest. The only thing that could spoil a day was people and if you could keep from making engagements, each day had no limits. People were always the limiters of happiness except for the very few that were as good as spring itself.”
Ernest Hemingway - A Moveable Feast

This is why Ernest loved to go fishing.

No fires, I'm afraid.

And the chairs were not that comfortable, otherwise we'd have fallen asleep far more often. The interiors, though, are almost as beautiful as the exterior.

Well, in a world of my own all grand libraries will be equipped with a fireplace and comfy, lounging chairs. And should one fall asleep the librarians will drape a cozy throw over you.
